New Vids Weekly!
Here is a mixtape recapping some of Alonzo Mourning's career in the NBA.
Nick-named the 'Zo', Mourning was an incredible defensive player, known for his extremely high intensity, loyalty and devotion as a player and having a huge heart.
Alonzo Mourning, in full Alonzo Harding Mourning, Jr., byname Zo, (born February 8, 1970, Chesapeake, Virginia, U.S.), American professional basketball player who was notable for recovering from a kidney transplant to win a National Basketball Association (NBA) championship with the Miami Heat in 2006.
Mourning-a center 6 feet 10 inches (2.08 meters) tall-played collegiate basketball at Georgetown University, in Washington, D.C. He was the second overall pick in the 1992 NBA draft by the Charlotte Hornets, and he spent three seasons with the team before being traded to the Heat. A seven-time NBA All-Star, he was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and 2000 and earned first-team All-NBA honors in 1999. He won gold medals with the U.S. team at the 1994 world championships and at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
Shortly after the Olympics, he was diagnosed with focal glomerulosclerosis, a disease that affects the filtering process of the kidneys. Mourning played in only 13 games the following season but recovered to make the NBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 2002. His condition worsened, however, and he sat out the 2002-03 season. As a free agent, he signed a four-year contract with the New Jersey Nets in 2003 but was forced to retire in November because of his kidney problems. He received a kidney from his cousin in December and began working toward an NBA comeback soon thereafter.

Question: HAS ANY PLAYER BLOCKED AS MANY DUNKS IN AN NBA CAREER??
Dikembe Mutombo...but that's no slight to Zo...Zo was a savage
@@mr.effective9619 hakeem the dream olajuwon hold the record for blocks . olajuwon was just unreal, a big man but move and spin like a guard. zo and ewing are my other favorite big man also. growing up in the 90, we had no cable tv, i couldn't wait till weekend to see the nba on nbc, love those rivalries, knicks vs pacers, rockets vs spurs, etc. the battle of the big men were epic, shag vs everyone, ewing vs olajuwon vs david robinson, webber, rashee wallace, zo. now the nba is just a bunch or dribblers hosting up 3s. no fundamental basketball at all. those guys would have eaten embid and golbert for lunch.
it's nice to meet you and i'll rank the best playoff shotblockers ever in this EXACT order #1 bill russell #2 wilt chamberlain #3 manute bol #4 hakeem olajuwon #5 mark eaton #6 dikembe mutombo and #7 alonzo mourning
i'll rank the best centers ever in this EXACT order for the playoffs and even season #1 TIED wilt chamberlain and bill russell #2 kareem abdul-jabbar #3 hakeem olajuwon #4 shaquille o'neal #5 george mikan #6 willis reed #7 moses malone #8 patrick ewing #9 TIED david robinson and dave cowens and #10 wes unseld
can never forget "no one dunks in Alonzo's house!" 😀
Alonzo Mourning one of my favorite big men ever
Pure legend
Zo is probably my favorite player ever. People talk about KGs intensity, but Zo was the original. Played every possession like the last.
100%
Is not your favorite, is mine 😊. The one i always loved to watch playing. The strength, Dedication, Power, charisma,.. That Man showed me that one can be unbreakable.
I used to flex after blocking shots cuz of Zo. He's my co favorite player in Heat history along with Dwayne Wade.
Been watching nba since 1990 and dont think anyone has blocked nearly as many
dunks in the last thirty years as zo did
I think you're right. Maybe Mutombo. But that's a maybe.
Zo always went for the block even if it meant getting put on a poster. You need a guy like that on your squad.
Yep. He took the responsibility
Loved that about him. He always contests the shot/dunk
my most favorite player... happy that he won a ring
He was special
What i love most about Zo he challenged everyone. Never saw him duck because someone was coming in for a dunk. No matter who it was.
he was a beast on defense down in the paint, he was rejecting everything, i was like damn he's a mean shot blocker, & i'm glad he won a ring to close out his career.
Glad u enjoyed
Wilt, Jordan, David Robinson, Pippen, Malone, Mourning, L. Johnson, D.Howard, Giannis. these guys had great physique that every basketball players dreams of
True
ZO was one of the best centers of the 90's and 00's. He was along side David Robinson and Dekembe Moutombo the best rim protectors of that era. ZO was strong as an ox and he was probably the center after Moutombo that wanted to block all the dunks possible. Excellent mid range shooter aswell and very good defensive rebounder.
💯 ❤️
I grew up in chicago in the jordan era, love me sum MJ, but my favorite player of all time is Alonzo Mourning...i use to record all the hornets and heat games bcuz of him...
hard to not like the guy!
My favourite player since '94...I'm getting old. 😀Zo Mourning is the beast. 💪
He's a beast 💪
He was mine too haha
Too bad he wasn't included in the 75 greats of the NBA for this season.
Shocked me he didnt
He would have been if he didn’t have the kidney issues. IMO he should be on the list over Harden, and a few others.
He earned it ,he just did not receive it
Truly great mixtape for an outstanding player. Love the song choices and editing. Keep up the powerful, moving work. You've done Alonzo Mourning justice.
Thx bro 🙏
I want everybody to know these things about me, so that you understand where, when, and how I grew up: Born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American. A stiff who didn't have cable TV until I was 18. A dork who bought all 5-6 NBA pre-season publication magazines, from when I was 18-24 or so. Some comments in the summer of 1992, after the Hornets drafted Alonzo Mourning: "The perfect player, for the perfect team." And, "Look at who's going to the playoffs." Of course Shaquille O'Neal was the runaway first choice and better player, but in just about any other year, Mourning would have been the #1 pick and Rookie of the Year. Offensively, with his jump shot AND 75%+ free-throw shooting (Georgetown, Hornets years), he was VERY polished. Remember, I was born in 1973 in Seattle. In 1993, one of my friends had this Charlotte Hornets T-shirt, that had that teal blue. I remember REALLY loving that Hornets teal blue color! It seemed very fitting, for a new expansion team starting up in the late 1980s. Oh! I had this rubber basketball that I bought in 1994, which was teal blue and transparent. It had "Zo" on the front of it, with Alonzo Mouring's "stamped signature."
And don’t forget his close range hook shot and 10-12 footer shot. He could score. He wasn’t a super high scorer but he could drop 20 a game.
it's nice to meet you and i'll say the 1997 heat weren't as elite as the 1977 and 1992 blazers and the 1978 1979 1980 1987 and 1996 sonics and alonzo mourning wasn't as elite as gary payton clyde drexler bill walton and spencer haywood
🍻
💯
🍻
Alonzo mourning one of the greatest defensive player of all time and one of the best centers to
So much heart.

@@youtuber3328 when played in High school and middle school I would do my best to play like Alonzo Morning and Dennis Rodman play hard and great defense the right way
@@seanbrowning616 that makes sense
Zo completed my childhood
I’ve a tremendous respect and admiration for Zo coz he never shied away from challenging every shot, even if it means getting out in a poster. A HOF player for sure
💯
This guy would be Giannis’ worst nightmare ever
Hell no!!!!!!! Gainnis ain't no punk. He ain't never see nothing like the Greek freak. 💪
I can only imagine what amare would of have done to him. Love zo but chill out. Amare would have did him dirty.
Amare and Gianni's are awesome. Zo would of blocked all their shiiiiit
Zo would give any Centers a hard time just because how hard he played every game. He is one of the leading shot blockers of all time. Giannis included.
It's a good point because 90s centers played a lot the way Giannis does. I think they'd give him trouble. Maybe not dominate but he definitely wouldn't be as effective
When mourning blocked nearly every piston for like five minutes
haha so true!
Zo is a Legend!
100%
i was watching and larry johson when they were playing for the hornets, that was a good team, what a shame the team got broken up. im so glad he won a ring , such a fierce competitor.
💯
Zo dunked on All the great Big Men he took his share but put in dat wurk.
Guy was all heart
My all time favorite player. 6’11 center in the era of the 7 foot big men.
He was a big time player
He’s actually 6’10” with shoes on. He’s an undersized center that was holding his own over 7 foot centers in a center dominated era. My all time favourite player.
Legit one of my few childhood heroes. A true life legend
💯
Zo was a beast!
loved the music too btw
Thx bro
Hey man love the beats you used in the background for these clips 👌🏾
Thx bro!

Indeed
Insane defender, so entertaining to watch!
Im not sure there ever was a dunk shot blocker better than Zo.
100% agreed
big ben
Rim Protector on Hall Of Fame!!!
💯
Alonzo Mourning was a beast. He's what these weak ass bigs like Anthony Davis, KAT, and Joel Embiid (although he's getting better) are supposed to play like.
💯. There's no heart in these guys today.
Truth!
The Goat winger in Rugby Jonah Lomu who played for the All Blacks had kidney problems most of his career as well but he never let that stop him from running over people on the field dudes a legend and one of rugbys first superstars I recommend you guys check out his highlights
Legend
Awesome video
Thx 👌 bro
Beautifully done!
Thanks 😊
and mr mourning said not tonight
He blocked everything
As a Sixers and St. Johns fan I really enjoyed watching him play, I even have a 'Zo Heat jersey. Watching these highlights continues to remind me just how GODAWFUL Shawn Bradley was, what were we thinking?

If Rodman can make it for REBOUNDS......Zo's Defense plus GAME gets him in top 75
Don't know that Dennis should be a hofer tbh
Rodman didn't only get in because of his rebounding tho.
2 defensive player of the year awards
7 rebound titles
5 time NBA champion
Lawds timing was specific .
They don't make them like him anymore, beast. Ugly fucking dunker though.
💯
1:17 'Yesssssssss more scenes like this, I wanna c MJ fail, don't hide.
Lol. Respect. But he didn't fail that often. He also dunked on So a few times

Does this include Vincent?
And Zachary.
Wow
Yes!!!!
for me Zo is a better shot blocker than Mutombo even if he had a higher average
Zo averaged more BPG than Mutombo (only just)
Zo would average 1000 ppg today.
Respect
