On April 17, 1976, hundreds of people gathered in downtown Athens, Ala., to await the appearance of Elvis Presley at a local church. A 44-year-old Athens widow, Iladeann McLemore Tribble, a former model with four grown children, had placed an announcement in the newspaper saying she and Elvis would wed that afternoon.
Elvis didn't show, the widow claimed she was scammed, and a year later, Elvis would be dead.

Unfortunately, it appears that she had some mental issues and grandiose thoughts.
This was very interesting Randy, but I highly doubt it was the real Elvis who she was waiting for but never showed. I think she was a Mrs. Presley wannabe and went all out to fool everyone and it backfired on her. He had millions of fans around the world and with all of those fans there are probably quite a few of them that go beyond just being starstruck. She sounds like one of those to me. The good thing is that she seemed harmless. Some of these overzealous fans as we have unfortunately seen can become life-threatening. Thankfully that didn't happen here. I hope she ended up finding her forever person and that she is resting in peace ❤ 💐
How many women have said this, and probably a 1000 claimed they had his kid. I am 80 years old, I became a fan in 1956 when I was 12 and he was on Sullivan's show. You have no idea how many stories began when he hit the stage. Women have gone crazy over him from that moment on. At first he appeared in court to try to stop these accusations. Then over time he just stopped and let the accusations ride. There is a cottage Industry in the world from men and women to sue Elvis or bring him down. And their are delusional people like his x wife who fabricate lies to make money off his name and image.
I've never heard of this story... No disrespect to Ms Tribble or her family but 1976 Elvis was at the height of his fame and I'm sure she would have known if she met him or not...Whether she did or not it's still a good storry...Thanks for sharing!!!!

Never heard this story. I feel sorry for her. Like you say, it could very well be true. Who knows? Something else I thought of, what if it were some Elvis impersonator who took advantage of her? I’m sorry but Elvis was not a mean man an he would not stand nobody up to believe that so she be there waiting. I think someone else was doing this to her. No way else did this! Sorry she might have met him or someone pretending to be him but Elvis wasn’t going to marry nobody and go away with them! He was still having to tour an Graceland had a lien on it cause of Beaulieu! Til after his death she had filed it April 77 over her 2nd divorce settlement she made sure she was going to get that or take Graceland it’s a public record filed in Shelby county court house in Memphis, Tennessee! 😍👑❤️

I think it may have been a misunderstanding because Elvis flirted with a lot of girls before, during and after his marriage. I feel sad that she kept her hope up too high. I wonder if she spent too much money on the wedding dress.

Elvis has got some stories that will never be told. I’m very sure of this. However, this just doesn’t ring true to me. The part where he proposed then just left her heartbroken and at the church. I don’t think so. That just doesn’t sound like Elvis. The part where she met him by chance and maybe spent some time with him. Maybe even on several occasions…that sounds very real. Who knows. I’m sorry she was hurt, no matter what happened. Thanks for the story. Never heard this one.
Considering that this was the year before he died and he was obviously not in good health/shape AND he was living with ginger alden, plus he preferred younger women/girls....I doubt this. I don't know that catfishing was a thing back then, but soneone could have been taking advantage of her. I remember exactly where i was when i heard Elvis had died ...same for jfk,mlk, and rfk

That lady mentioned in the video claimed that was probably a Elvis imposter.
It’s sad that someone would do that to her. Who wants to embarrass them self unless they are crazy.
I really enjoyed reading your story about that lady and Elvis. I bet the story may be true, because when Elvis got single again, he did see a bunch of different ladies. It may be possible that him and Ms. Tribble may have shared a weekend of fun together. Elvis loved the company of beautiful women, and he was known for making introductions, when he happened on a lovely lady somehow.
