This palette is my guilty pleasure 🙈 The formula of some mattes isn’t the best, but i am the “make what I own work, than buy new stuff” type of a person and i definitely can make it work. I have used WAY worse products. The shimmers I honestly like and color story and theme is just my cup of tea💙💚 Out of all the blue/green palettes that came out at that time, this is the only one I’ve bought. Shipping to my country cost almost as much as the palette itself and the customs almost brought the whole thing up to 100$, which it definitely isn’t worth, but unlike a lot of brands, ace beaute actually ships to my country(side eyeing menagerie cosmetics😅). Overall, judging everything objectively, it is a 50/50 product for me, but the important thing is - it brings me joy using and makes me happy just looking at it, and that’s the important thing with makeup for me. Love the video. stunning look(as always), despite the inconsistencies in the palette💙💚
Yes I feel the same! I do love the metallics in this palette and the color story makes me happy. I can work either way whether it's light to dark or dark to light. Plus I only paid $12 for it so I'm very happy.
I have that same issues with all Ace Beaute palettes! Even when I go from dark to light with the mattes. Such a shame, the color story is indeed gorgeous. I love that you got to “take it for a spin” 😂 much better than wasting money on it!
I LOVE this palette and Ace Beaute in general. Oceanic was my first AB purchase, and I even emailed the brand to cancel my order due to bad reviews. I guess it had already shipped, so I couldn’t cancel it. I’m so happy I have it. I love the mattes, but the shimmers are thicker than I like. Kind of like JP, but less shiny. I kept feeling like they were overpriced, but I like their palettes more and more as I continue to use them. They are slowly becoming my favorite brand.
Isn't it weird how stuff can grow on you? I had the same experience with Certifeye ... didn't like them when I first got them but now I really like them.

I've been trying the formula for so many months witb different primers, technics and brushes and nothing worked :( The patchiness is out of this world. Also they look dry even with my oiliest primer and after I heavily moisturized my lids.
@@Blue-Mo0n oh no. That was my experience too but after about a week of uses I've got all but the purples working well. Still not my favourite formula but definitely wearable. It was like they had developed some kind of top layer that was bad and I had to get through that before they worked. UA-camrs told me to "press and not swipe the colour on" and that definitely helped too.maybe swatch yours with a tissue then try pressing and just blend the edges softly? I still can't get much joy out of the purples in mine.
@@jaycreswell7008 I've scraped the top layer of the most with no result, honestly I've tried everything because it was a quite expensive to be such bad of a quality. The dark purple wouldn't even stick to my lid. I don't know what's the problem with that palette but I've never had such a bad palette not even some extremely cheap ones.
To get the pigmentation to show up I have to pack on THEN blend the edges with another shade or the same shade.... most of them are super vibrant & beautiful just have to build up a bit. I LOVE my Oceanic palette! Sending you lots of love!! Xoxo! 💞🦇😘
I watched beautbeans review on this palette and she always creates stunning looks! I wonder if it's because she always uses a glitter glue primer for shimmers 🤔
@@AnaTonksCarver that is most definitely why haha the glitter primer really amps up any shimmer/metallic shadow to it's fullest potential. I bought this palette after watching all of the looks Betty did with it and it worked nicely and with my glitter primer those shimmers popped! But I'll bite when I say that Give Me Glow Cosmetics has the best metallic formula imo.
I love this palette too.. so much that it is in my top 5 palettes out of my about 150 palettes I own. Colours are so deep and rich, without looking blackened or muted. What primers are you using with these one? I use my nyx white primer (the one that comes in a pot) and it gives the best results probably because it's om the oilier side of primers.
@@Blue-Mo0n for this palette when I first used it a couple times I used a concealer that was too thick for my under eyes so I used it as primer as it was too thick and too light to use for my normal under eye/face concealer and it worked so well as an eyeshadow primer for the mattes in the palette and then when it came time to play with the shimmers I used my Nyx glitter primer and that's it for the primers I used to make this palette work. I never do my eyeshadow looks without these two primers!
I had just bought it and share the same opinions: nothing special, I don't like to work from the deepest shade and I love to use mats on top of each other, and that palette doesn't allow that. I will be selling it. I just wish I saw your video before buying it XD. Now I'll watch the whole video :)

I do dark to light and I use Makeup Revolution’s Cut Crease Canvas and I don’t have a problem with blending it patchiness. And yea Bali is definitely best only use as a transition shade but on top of one of the darker blues it looks really pretty.
I would definitely use a lighter and tacky base for the shadows like the P Louise base. I have the Flair palette and at first I didn't like it because the mattes were dry but as I continued to use it I ended up really enjoying it. And yes going from darkest to lightest is the best way to apply and blend your shadows. Maybe use a glitter glue for the metallics to amp them up. I do that and it makes any shimmer or metallic shade much more intense. Hope this helps!

It has the best ccolour combo out of all the blue-green palettes out there.. with a huge difference. I agree with the comment above. Mine is stunning too.. the mattes are so smooth, deep and rich, not muted at all. They blend nice. I use it with my white nyx primer pot.
I've had that happen with the Certifeye tropical wonders palette which was absolute trash for me, while on the other hand the Oceanic palette is in my top 5 palettes out of my around 150 eyeshadow palettes..
It applied and blended fine, however I experienced quite a lot of fallout during the day. I do have hooded eyes, but with other brands the fallout is minimal.
I’m sure when I first got this palette the shimmers weren’t like that - that satiny, dry texture. But when I saw you swatching them, I went and got mine and they are the same. I’ve had mine for at least 18 months now and only used it once or twice.
Do you think it's time causing the quality to degrade? Or is it the fact that shimmer formulas in general have improved so much in the last couple of years that what was a good formula once is now superseded by even better formulas?

I love Ace Beaute and their formula for their mattes. There was only a few shimmer shades that I ended up liking from the 3 palettes of theirs I have. Omg your luck with pillow talk lol it's almost as if my luck is rubbing off on you. I stepped an a expensive discontinued palette and broke it the other day. Not only did I break it, I shattered the glass and it went into the palette. I don't have the $ to replace it and every time I find that palette I see it is expensive for a used palette. It Meurte from Melt, I love it and really enjoyed hanging out and looking at it and swatching my multichromes and JD Glow shimmers lol, but let's be real here, I've only used it a couple times and there are only a couple palettes that I've used more than 5 or 6 times. So I'm not like missing it except for the fact that I wanna make the skull and just look at the colors. I don't sit around and swatch my pretty mattes but I could play all day in sparkly (sparkly without sparkles) or reflective and shiny or just really special lmfao. What can I say? I like beautiful things 😆 but I had a bunch of people that kept asking if they could buy it and I'm scared to have to tell them what happened lmao cause I know it wouldn't be broken in their hands. Omg I'm rambling! I'm so sorry. Bye! I have the flair palette from ace beauty. On my medium skin tone, the best I can get out of the lightest mattes is blending darker shades that I packed on and giving a hue to the look. But I still love the color story so much that I use it all the time
Oceanic has the most beautiful blue-green color story out of all the palettes I've seen. I have it and I love not only the colour story but also the formula. Their mattes are so rich and deep, use an oilier primer like the nyx ones that comes in a pot (the white goes really well with this palette). The shimmers work best when I pack a light layer on my brush and spray it with water/primer, they look smooth and more shiny that way.. Although to be fair and honest I do that with all the shimmers of any brand because any shimmer looks chunky on me if I don't apply jt that way.. So I'm not going out of my way with the Oceanic palette really..

Hahaha, yes, every time I'm trying to have a serious meeting someone is demolishing their house or building a skyscraper or something. I'm honestly wondering if it has to do with the skin at this point. This palette is smooth like velvet on me, it blends easily, the colours are so damn rich and deep without being blackened, no patchiness etc. The tropical wonders palette that is one of your favorite palettes was straight trash for me. I know you didn't lie about it which is what makes me wonder if it's something to do with the skin. I've tried many technics and primers to make that certifeye palette work with zero results. In case you still have the palette you can try it with a nyx primer (the ones in the pot). It works the best especially the white one, because it's a more oilier primer compared to others.

This is so beautiful but I'm so afraid of staining! I know that was true of the Menagerie Whalesong palette so I'm interested to see if that's an issue with this one.

I do find the formula pretty powdery & chalky but I do like my palettes. It's a hit or miss I guess for folks, I guess. I also think they did a few reformulations, didn't they? 1 after the Paradise palettes then again after Oceanic?
Mine blends really nice, the mattes are rich and deep and you can make so many beautiful looks with these palette.. I hadn't realised untill I got it and started playing with it.. I thought the looks would look similar.
I agree, the colorstory is stunning but those mattes are powder city, almost as bad as the dose of colors mattes lol...the shimmers are just ok also. You're totally right, whalesong is oceanic 2.0...so much better. I wish the formula for the oceanic was as good as whale song just because that colorstory is next level. Such a shame.lol

I'm still scarred from buying the ENTIRE 4 palette Paradise collection from Ace. Literally my biggest makeup regret ever. I hate the formula, but I can't get rid of them because I ADORE the packaging, layout, color stories, etc... They just sit in a drawer looking pretty. The formula is just... weird. It's super thin & won't build, especially on top of each other. You literally CAN'T deepen the outer corner, it's so frustrating! I've never been able to get a nice blend with any of their shadows. This color story is gorgeous though! ❤
you probably mean the menagerie "whale song" palette or the "Affinity 2" by Certifeye. I believe the Oceanic one was released a little bit earlier but I'm not sure. They were all released around the same time, they aren't really dupes just similar because the "blue-green" colour story was a thing at that point just like it happened with the rainbow palettes a couple of years a ago etc.. The Oceanic palette has the most beautiful colour story out of all.
I truly think not every eye shadow formula works good with that base. I just have noticed you have some trouble when you use that primer then with another brand. Curious why though just cause a primer should always help but that specific primer seems to have issues a good bit when I've watched you and then when you've used other primers everything seems fine. Just so curious why that primer doesn't seem to work like others would. Hmm?!?! Interesting... 💙Xoxo💜
To be fair I do my makeup with this eye primer every day and almost never have issues. I will try this palette with a different primer but I’ve said in the past that I wasn’t a fan of Ace Beaute’s formula. It’s just very dry. 😊

I agree the blending brushes weren't the best choice for putting down the colors in this palette. Flat packing brush then blend.

Try this again but with ur abh primer r one that's pretty tacky I always pack the shades on with this palette then blending edges

In case you still have the palette you can try it with a nyx primer (the ones in the pot). It works the best especially the white one, because it's a more oilier primer compared to others.

Have you ever tried the ELF Earth & Ocean palette? I've had good results with that one and for the price it's not half bad.
I love the mattes in this but the way you described the shimmers reminds me of Revolution and their shimmers but not shimmery😑

I do find the formula pretty powdery & chalky but I do like my palettes. It's a hit or miss I guess for folks, I guess. I also think they did a few reformulations, didn't they? 1 after the Paradise palettes then again after Oceanic?

I had high hopes on this palette but is noticeable that is goes sheer when blending.
It works very well packed on then just blending the edges.

Mine blends really nice, the mattes are rich and deep and you can make so many beautiful looks with these palette.. I hadn't realised untill I got it and started playing with it.. I thought the looks would look similar.
I agree, the colorstory is stunning but those mattes are powder city, almost as bad as the dose of colors mattes lol...the shimmers are just ok also. You're totally right, whalesong is oceanic 2.0...so much better. I wish the formula for the oceanic was as good as whale song just because that colorstory is next level. Such a shame.lol

I'm still scarred from buying the ENTIRE 4 palette Paradise collection from Ace. Literally my biggest makeup regret ever. I hate the formula, but I can't get rid of them because I ADORE the packaging, layout, color stories, etc... They just sit in a drawer looking pretty. The formula is just... weird. It's super thin & won't build, especially on top of each other. You literally CAN'T deepen the outer corner, it's so frustrating! I've never been able to get a nice blend with any of their shadows. This color story is gorgeous though! ❤

you probably mean the menagerie "whale song" palette or the "Affinity 2" by Certifeye. I believe the Oceanic one was released a little bit earlier but I'm not sure. They were all released around the same time, they aren't really dupes just similar because the "blue-green" colour story was a thing at that point just like it happened with the rainbow palettes a couple of years a ago etc.. The Oceanic palette has the most beautiful colour story out of all.

I truly think not every eye shadow formula works good with that base. I just have noticed you have some trouble when you use that primer then with another brand. Curious why though just cause a primer should always help but that specific primer seems to have issues a good bit when I've watched you and then when you've used other primers everything seems fine. Just so curious why that primer doesn't seem to work like others would. Hmm?!?! Interesting...

To be fair I do my makeup with this eye primer every day and almost never have issues. I will try this palette with a different primer but I’ve said in the past that I wasn’t a fan of Ace Beaute’s formula. It’s just very dry. 😊
@@AmyLovesMakeup try it with another primer. I use mine with Mac Paint Pot and the shadows works great.
I use nyx primer that comes in a pot.. the white one is even better for this palette..
If that formula isn't for you then I get it.

I have this and Whalesong. The Whalesong is better for me, hands down. I don’t love how this palette performs. It’s just okay.
I had the most trouble with that palette the first time I tried it and was so sad because it is very pretty and my perfect color story. -Julie
try it with the nyx primer that comes in a pot, the white one, I believe any oilier primer will do but this is the one I have and tried and it works perfectly!
