At that, a bloke at a front table stood up and went to leave, but fell over his chair and landed on his face. The comic, said, "Are you okay? Why are you leaving?" The bloke replied, "I'm just going to lock my car." Biggest laugh of the evening, and it was at something said by an audience member.
Classic example of a comedian getting schooled in Liverpool. Eric Douglas (son of Kirk Douglas and brother of Michael) thought he could casually try being a comedian. Ended up in Liverpool and started patronizing the crowd with American jokes that weren't hitting the landing. Finally, after bombing on stage for over 10 minutes, Eric Douglas yelled out "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? I'M KIRK DOUGLAS' SON!" and a Scouser stood up and shouted "No, I'M Kirk Douglas's son!", which prompted another Scouser to do the same, before the entire room stood up all claiming to be Kirk Douglas' son, and Eric dropped the mic and left the stage, never to attempt stand up comedy ever again.
