Thank you:)
I received my first ever A in a math class because of your phenomenal differential equations playlist here on UA-cam! Linear algebra is up next. Thank you for everything you do Math Sorcerer!
It’s crazy, I was always okay and sometimes good at math but college first semester was challenging now in later classes I’m getting perfect grades😅you start to love math really
I remember taking Calc I, II, and III over a year in college. That was followed by DiffEq and Linear at the same time. I still have the books. That was back in the early 80s.
Keep mathing!
I don't know if you've heard of it, but Algebra: Chapter 0 by Paolo Aluffi has become my favorite book on Abstract Algebra. You should check it out!
its an awesome book.
Did you read the book or is it because the author is called Pablo @@_PabloGarcia
Standard math textbooks may not be the best way to go for self-study. The emphasis on formal proofs in calculus texts can be a real obstacle to understanding the underlying concepts, which are often intuitively simple. I think the formalist approach only works for those who are already proficient mathematicians. College students are forced to plow through it to pass the course but it's unclear how much sound understanding is actually produced.
What would you recommend?
Industrial technology grad here: Before all that, I started first with Analytical Geometry. Understanding that made me understand Differential calc, then Integral, then Differential Equations. Differential equations was then followed by Linear Algebra. After all that there was no more pure math courses for our engineering program. It was all applications of all those maths within our respective engineering fields from then on. I am now self-learning higher mathematics that wasn't taught in University hence I go to youtube channels like these.
hi do you have any analytical geometry books you recommend?
@@lucasezequielacosta6330 I used the one written by Clyde Love and Earl Rainville. It's an old book first published in the 60's, but somehow it's what we used in 2012 and there are online PDFs of it. The exercises there are hard, but there is a solution manual for it you can also find online. Just use the manual to check your answer.
Thank you
Even with a degree in Electrical Engineering, we all had to do statics, dynamics of rigid bodies, and deformable bodies. Mind bending stuff, but tons of vector calculus and differential equations. I suspect Artur knows way more than he gives himself credit for. As usual, your recommendations are rock solid.
Thanks much to Artur for asking this. I'm kinda right there with him.
Awesome!!, If you had to add one for probabilities and statistics which one would you add?
I learned ( and by now forgotten) calculus 1,2,3 not from a typical textbook, but from numerous sources online and a purchased course. One free / open source online textbook for calc 1-3 is
Contemporary Calculus by Dale Hoffman of Belleview College, WA. An excellent DVD course from the Great Courses is by Bruce Edwards, the co-author of a popular textbook by Larsen and Edwards. The MIT opencourseware classes are also good. Of course, there is the famous MIT online Linear Algebra course by Gilbert Strang. I found a decent self published Linear Algebra book called "No Bullshit Guide to Linear Algebra" by Ivan Savov, which is quite accessible and thorough.
Thanks
For me it was:

I am 66 years old, still working as an embedded systems consultant, and still learning.
Believe me, it never stops. Once you get bitten, you never stop. There are lots of stuff to
discover, explore, and it is always fun to go over stuff and make sure you still have what
it takes to make things happen.

I am currently a lifetime subscriber to brilliant.org, (Its OK, fun, but I do not learn a whole lot here)
I have yet to start taking courses over at Khan Academy, (signed up and created an account)
im learning calculus with the gilbert strsng book and really liking it
Thomas Calculus Early Transcendentals was my calculus textbook in college like 20 years ago
Goodnight sir,
I had a big doubt as a high school student I am v v much interested in maths but i don't no even a proper basic and where to start or which chapter to start so that I could be able to solve up coming chapters
Can u help me out
Is there a recommended study path for your Udemy courses, that you would suggest? An ideal order to tackle subjects.
I think that if you want to learn math for your own enjoyment then you should start with things like the infinity of primes and modular arithmetic and not calculus, lin algebra and differential equations. Learning things like graph theory and maybe group theory broadens the mind and it shows the unity of mathematics. Don't limit yourself to engineering mathematics.
Is there a program where you can personally help me learn advanced math? I’m the cfo of a large corp and would love to learn. Jeff
Velleman also has a fascinating Calculus book, subtitled "A Rigorous First Course". Similar to his proofwriting books, he tries to go into enough detail to help you arrive at all the main ideas yourself.
Here are some others you'll have a great time with:
Nitecki: Calculus Deconstructed: A Second Course in First-Year Calculus
Warner & Costenoble: Applied Calculus 8e
Ventre: Calculus & Linear Algebra
Kilty: Mathematical Modeling & Applied Calculus
Adler: Modeling the Dynamics of Life: Calculus & Probability for Life Scientists, 3e
As for DiffEQ and LA apart from what a Calc book would cover, I'll try to make another list later on when I have more time.
Btw, workbooks can be unbelievably fun and useful! Way better than solving daily crossword and sudoku puzzles! Lol
I have the Elementary Linear Algebra: 11th Edition. Can I study it in place of the 2nd Edition?
Kindly advise.
Thank you....
Between Stewart and Thomas, which book is better to stick to?
You can never go wrong with either. Just pick one and roll with it
Can you tell something about IIT JEE mathematics level??
I'm preparing for it

Civil engineer with ambitions for learning higher math and physics
Calculus And Analytic Geometry by Howard Anton, how did you miss it,this book is like the holy grail of calculus,Thomas' Calculus? never heard of but am sure as hell gonna check it out and please kindly checkout Anton's Calculus
Please ask log Hard book

Im in a summer course. I have an exam in 30 hours. We have had 2 classes. Out exam is on limits and beginnings of derivatives. I’M SO CONFUSED!!!!! Someone please help me… I can’t figure out how the form of the equation has changed 15 million times. Also why does my prof use the letter ‘c’ as his variable?? It looks an awful lot like his letter L. And sometimes looks like his 0.
my next year at university (pray for me please):
summer -
calc 1
python programming
data science
fall -
calc 2
discrete math
linear algebra
database programming
engineering physics 1
spring
calc 3
ODE
eng phys 2/lab
gen chem 1
im very scared, more than for anything before, but going for it anyway
kick fucking ass dawg
Its joever dude youre failing 50% of them
For me looks easy. Just keep practicing on it with any sources: youtube, blogs, books
Checkout Proffesor Leonard on youtube. He has calc1, calc2 and calc3. Use those video lectures in conjunction with sloving problmes on Thomas Calculus. I used Physics for Scientists and Engineers Douglas Giancoli to learn Physics 1 and 2. I love the problem sets of that book. You can supplement it with Sears and Zemenky's university Physics ( it has nice explanations and derivations, sometimes even better than Giancoli's but Giancoli has better problem sets. As for Python, checkout Caleb curry on youtube. Eventhough I didn't do his python course, I leanrt C programming from him and as such I can attest to his teaching methods. I hope my recommendation will help you wish u all the best.
dude you should move something from fall to spring, like database programming. calc 2, linear and physics are going to take A LOT of your time
I don't know how I passed on diff equations exam. I have no idea and no recollection. It was that bad. I should probably get a hand on that book and and make it right this time
I forgot about those nice books smells.
You never said who wrote the differential equation book you recommend.
All it takes is motivation, passion, and intellectual curiosity.
Why was all calculus easy for me, even differential equations, almost 100% of all subjects, but I don't understand linear algebra? I have to repeat it again.
You had easy teachers before. Calc and difeq can be taught easy or hard. They are usually taught with some linear alg.
Are you still a teacher/professor?
Start with a Big Calculus Text, and a Mathematical Methods text such as "Mathematical Methods in the Physical Sciences" by Mary L. Boas, "Mathematical Methods for Physicists" by George B. Arfken or "Advanced Engineering Mathematics" by Erwin Kreyszig.
I can't do it. I recently.took college algebra and got a b. I could never do higher maths.
B means you are doing very well, bro. Dont treat yourself harsh and just keep pushin. I hope this helps
I would have died laughing if you were shirtless please do a surprise shirtless reveal when lowering the white board snd it's late af
1st to comment! Too late everyone
Idc
Have a great day!
@@virajpatil1017you too
Please do a response to Terrance Howard's explanation of 1x1=2 as mentioned on the joe Rogan podcast. He postulates that never through out natures laws or in physics when you multiply anything do you get an equal reaction... Seems clever and im a skeptic but not a conspiracy guy. Your thoughts would be most appreciated
Khan academy also helps
my guy here snoring on text book
Chatgpt with using skyvoice she will explain all the math
Can any Mathematician be The Actuarial Sorcerer? Can you ask around?
Can you be The Math Sorcerer for Preborn, cribs, and toddlers? Can you ask Elon Musk?
Every language? Ask EWTN? They have inherited gene intelligence!
I just want brilliant offspring! Good luck with your family?
A degrees in civil engineering and he is no good at the basics? 1st this will explain why he has no job in the field, 2nd the school that gave him the degree should be investigated for mal practice. He should should be expert at the rules of algerbra and the limit theorem 1st.
Oh, and yes, there is UA-cam.
Heck, I even watch the middle-school stuff, like Tablet Math, www.youtube.com/@tabletclass. This fellow is a bit long-winded, however he has very good elementary school and high school concepts on his UA-cam.
