This is ten mins down the road from me and I only ride about 10% of those trails, I dont mind the incline but figuring out how to negotiate a lot of the turns is beyond me. I guess when the lines were first rode there was a lot more earth and a lot less rut to contend with. I took a friend up there last summer and let him lead, i told him to keep right but he took a left and we ended up walking / sliding on our arses the last1/2 of it. it was the one where you said you were ready for giving up btw.
yes i imagine when they were first built they would have been a little easier to ride, I find deep ruts really tricky to ride! Great place to have has your local
No your right it really doesn't do it any justice. Was a great day if not a little scary at times 😁 Awesome! Think it's somewhere I've probably just got to keep riding to get my confidence up there 🤟
Looks epic...with a video title like that could really do with sticking where it is so people dont have to spend 10 minutes scrolling through comments to find it 👍
Blimey!!! Bubble wrap ? 😂 In all seriousness though, I don't really know. I wear knee pads and a shirt with body armour built in, can't think of the proper word but it's like a compression top with padding for chest back and ribs 👍
Too say I’m 25 min from this I really should go more often. Tend to only ride it when it’s a bit dryer or had a little bit of rain, because she’s a bit dicey in the slick 🤣
I notice when you start to fail you lose a lot of confidence and bits you could of easily done become hard work and you just keep putting your foot down. I think moving forward after you hit a trail that "defeats" you. You should go back on one which you have done successfully first to get your mind right again before hitting another new one. I know there isn't all the time in the world but maybe try it :)
Yea that's something I tend to do when riding on my own as I have the time to go back and ride them at my leisure. Unfortunately I was being shown around and I don't like holding a group ride up. I did tell the other guys to carry on without me ( not in the video though as it was boring chat). When I'm riding blind trails for the first time though I don't mind being defeated, just gives me a reason to come back and try again. At least I'll have a better idea of what's to come next time.
@OfftheTopMTB I know of cromford, I live in the hope valley. I've rode at ambergate whats over thay way before. Just didn't know of a place at cromford
@@paulwain8640 Its actually black rocks not Cromford. If you park at high peak junction car park, cross over the rail track and canal and head up the steep hill (next to the red railway carriage) you will come to a gap in the wall on your left a couple of hundred metres up the hill. go through the gap and kinda double back on yourself to start climbing a dirt track. As you climb that you will see all of the trail exits on your right and entries to follow on trails on your left. Keep going up the dirt track until it levels out and look for another dirt track that doubles back (thats a right turn). Follow that with the stone wall on your left until you come to a broken fence, at that point you have gone about 30 or 40 metres past the start of all of the upper trails. From the start point the trials keep splitting so staying right keeps you on shallow lines, take your first left and its deathly. you can also access the woods by parking at black rocks carpark and its a lot less effort to get to the top of the woodland descents but its much harder to describe how to get to the there.
Big thanks to @MTBMark47 for the additional footage & the invite....I think 😂

Love that place, not been for ages! Nicely done Sam 🤙🏻
Cheers Phill, great little spot and very tight and twisty 😮
flippin eck 😳 i dont mind steep but when its vertical drops like that its a big NOPE! fair play riding what you did dude 🤟
Cheers dude, it was properly unnerving there. Some of it was just bonkers 😂 I need to get back to try it again.
Camera don't do it justice...proper sketchy.. awesome day , hopefully be back in a couple of weeks, will give you a shout 👍

So annoying how the camera lies! So steep and techy! Great vid mate! 👍
Cheers Ant! I was not expecting it to be as steep and Gnarly as it was really caught me off guard. Some of the exits from the trails were just nuts!
That looks insanely steep and technical
Yea proper nuts, it was the ridiculously tight turns I struggled with the most, but still very steep 😜
@OfftheTopMTB how does this place compare to Wrekin?
Not as steep I wouldn't say, but some of the turns are really tight, probably tighter than what's at the Wrekin.

Got Race Face Knee & Elbow Pads
@@paulhusky580bts yea they should be fine I don't bother with elbow pads, far to uncomfortable for me
Plenty there to destroy your confidence....and the physical stuff. PS it's Jonathan 😜
Yep destroy your confidence in one trail lol...ooops my bad 🤣🤣

Oh mate what a location to have on your door step! That was my first time there, wasn't sure what to expect but was very greasy in parts 😲

@@OfftheTopMTB amen!!! Look forward to a revisit of victory
@@09mantlek yea me too 😀 cheers dude 🤟
My local. Nowhere near as good as it used to be. 3-4 years ago this place was all epic loam. Too many riders come here now, the trails are battered.
I didn't think the trails were in bad condition at all to be honest just bloody hard ! Great to have as a local 👍
@@OfftheTopMTBwe scratched in a couple of those trails you did during lockdown. Hard to believe but there used to be about a foot of loam
Oh really ! Wow. Someone was there building and or maintaining them when I was there, seemed to be doing a good job.
Which 1s did you scratch in ?
@@benhenderson9038 @rjw1974 is your man
What the name of the woods please? I live close to here and never heard of it
@paulwain8640 how do you know you live close to it if you've never heard of it 🤷?
