Was thinking about the same. In the old days we had 2 sets of judges, and you didnt have start in order. First one to the top, just drop... allthought it was pipe comp then but i think its possible to do the same here... and maybe 3 best riders in a super final... 2 runs, best score whatever trix or direction you spin
it's because it's a TV show. It needs to fit in a TV show schedule. If someone gets injured and they need 10minutes off to remove him, than the show is 10 minutes too long. TV do that to all sports : you want to get the big money? change your format to fit ours. I'm not much into skiing, but I follow DH world cup a lot and they went from showing all 80 qualifiers run, to top 20, to top 20 but with priority to big names (even if they are not in the top 20). They are getting shorter and shorter tracks so it fits better for the camera, changed rules for onboard camera, dumb down commentators. It's very boring to watch now...
yeah, time is getting too much of a factor these days. Especially in slopestyle where a gold medal run can end up even in a 4th or 5th place if made first run
Ppl who are saying ''wtf are Henrik doing''... He is doing what he loves... he could have pulled of a butter trippel to easy win...but he does not want that, he want's to do something new. And fyi what he is trying is way harder than the textbook tripples we saw in this competition.
SweetDrummerNrOne he and oystien did effectively the same trick.... oystiens was harder, and sw trip 16s and 18s are stupidly technical, I've never seen Henrick do one. Idk how much skiing you do yourself but I can tell you that yes it's easy to huck doubles that have no spinning in but sw dub 12s are freaking insanely difficult and obviously adding andotber flip and more spin is ridiculous. A sw dub 9 or 10 compared to 12 or 14 (and thier respective triples) are totally different. Hopefully this makes sense
There is always a new guy doing new things and the rise to the top. Henrik was the guy doing triple cork butters when nobody else even tried. While most guys just try to throw in an extra rotation or different grab combo, Henrik is looking for that new style trick like he had with the butters. Now that we are seeing 18's, you have to be super innovative or just be able to spin like a top. Henrik is going for the innovation but before long we will be in the 2000 degrees and it might as well be Arial acrobatics at that point.
Did Birk really deserve a 45 for his right side trick? It didn't look like he fully grabbed the right tail I think 45 was way too generous, ABM should've won in my opinion. Still great day, insane to see the level of progression there is right now. I really hope we can see Vinny going at it again with his unique style and innovation, miss his double bio 1620 screamin' seaman octo.
Yeah, he definitely missed the first grab completely. Nice to get see two grabs but if you don't actually get one of them, you can't get that score surely. I'm with these guys, only interested in Vinny's and some of Henrik's tricks.
Not true, Henricks amazing but these guys want to win and are skiing to the judges. Watch thier individual skiing and you'll change your mind if you think they have no unique style.
somebody gotta hire the slvsh filmers to do follow cam for these... buddy in the grey suit missed so many landings. Not saying I would do better, but I have seen people who can. :)
I have to be honest: every trick is so spinny now that it's not even fun to watch. I miss the old days where it was more about style, less about spinning in circles.
@@dukey_1337 when right-side spins were not mandatory. I remember 2009, when the winning trick was a double superman frontflip winning over a switch double cork 1080.
Henrik just needed more speed for his R side tricks, landed almost at the knuckle on two of them. That butter dub cork 12 with 2 grabs woulda been sick!
These trip 16s and 18s look so stock now Would love to see some more off axis shenanigans and different grabs next year Ahalls opp mute looks sooo sick
To be honest, the GoPro follow cam is pretty terrible. I would have preferred the true speed side view of those tricks like the rest of the competitors got. The skier is in frame, better quality, better frame-rate, no shaking. Use a drone next time?
GuyIncognito subtle axis like that are WAY more difficult to double or triple that flippy ones. I've been trying all season to flatten out my switch dub 9 cause it's super flippy and my god it's difficult doing it the way Henrick does
MY OPINION : 1. Birk don't deserve a 45 for his Right dub16 missed double grab.. it deserve a 43 MAXIMUM. 2. Mceachran deserve way more for his Right triple 16 safety than a 37, everyone had 40 or 41 for triple 16 safety why not Evan. 3. This said the podium should be:: GOLD ; ABM with 87 (Highest single score) --- L47 - R40 SILVER ; Birk Ruud with 87 ---- L44 - R43 (If he had what he deserves (43) for his Right double16 missed double grabs) BRONZE ; Evan Mceachran with 84 ---- L44 - R40 (If he had what he deserves (40) for his Right triple16 safety) IMO.
Be cool to see something other then corks. Don't you skiers have rodeos mistys bios and d spins among other things. I snowboard so I don't know all the skiing rotations and there names
@@user-lp7qb8sx4h well does it matter if it looks cool? In the end he is just there to have fun and throw some Gilla trix even though they don't get that big score
Feeli Rinnekari that is competition, dont think its all about the fun. And to be honest, Harlauts tricks looked weak compared to another top 5 guys. Just look at his switch dub cork with double grab .. i dont think its stylish, just looks wierd.
When the commentator says his knees don’t even bend when he is “100ft in the air” that’s when I go huh?🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. Not even close to 100ft in the air. This is when I stop watching
So impressed by the progression each athlete gave in every run!
This game is sick and I love it!!
Time makes no sense... it always adds up to 5 runs each... just do that.
Chillin Spree agreed

it's easier for the tv producers/advertisers

34:20 Why was this what I found the most impressive???
Oskar it’s always like that, the most impressive tricks are the simplest ones
Its because of the change of speed
Oskar IKR, backflips are even easier than 360’s for me and I still thought that was cool, lol
It's about the style not the spins.
Ppl who are saying ''wtf are Henrik doing''... He is doing what he loves... he could have pulled of a butter trippel to easy win...but he does not want that, he want's to do something new. And fyi what he is trying is way harder than the textbook tripples we saw in this competition.

SweetDrummerNrOne Henrik only really has those huge tricks spinning one direction so the new format makes it a bit more difficult for him

its perfectly normal to lose to trick for these freestyle skiers. Its difficult to keep executing the same signature trick year after year.
john robinson you huckin dubs bro ?
I appreciate Harlaut’s body positioning a lot, while everyone else is all about rotations+grab.
@2:58 Ruud going for the check, ABM...nope
x games drinking game- whenever someone mentions the word progression, take a shot. i can bet there will be no survivors

Vinny is needed right now to stop this crazy progression! There has to be a barrier to the amount of spin someone can do...
I'll be back there soon I promise
We need you Vinny!!
Vinnie is a legend!!! Also doing Genie
Yeah, he definitely missed the first grab completely. Nice to get see two grabs but if you don't actually get one of them, you can't get that score surely. I'm with these guys, only interested in Vinny's and some of Henrik's tricks.
Woodsy, congrats mate!! 🍾

Repping us brits well fine 👏🏻
2:59 Can We get a rip for The guy in The Yellow, for not gerning a godt bump?!?!
He was gettin' warm lol
Burk dropping the f bomb at the end
oystens sw dub 14 was perfect
Good stuff woodsy, loving the octo grab.
Harlaut literally the only one with sick and unique style
well I kinda liked the grabs by woodsy too but the rest was spin to win
@@jNeyer true!

ABM? AHall? Pretty unique styles and grab combos
13:18 is he mounted above the center lol?
Incredible they need bigger landing areas like double the size
Why do I feel like this was every trick:
______ Triple Cork _______

Yup only 2 guys here have style with their spin ABM and Henrik
When was that? 20 years ago? I pefered it too.

So cool
thnx!
The first one could’ve been a future spin
7:25 That was a 1440 with a bit of off-axis, there was no cork. Definitely not a triple cork. Skiing has gotten weird.

Birk Ruud was basically just given this gold medal for free, he sure didn't deserve those high scores.
Why do they have ski poles for this? Seems like they dont even use them.
Well I learned how to hop 180 today!
Um, strange interview at the end... F bomb live 😂
5:21 is cool
H.H. Soundin' more n more like a Midwesterner every time ya hear him talk.
Does the commentator sound like Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja or is it just me
RIP Christian Numendal
why do they all seem to go in the ramp backwards? Is going forward just not a "trick" anymore? srs question,as i dont keep up with this..thanks.
going in backwards = more difficult = more points (very basic explanation) :)
why is "Volkl" so popular?....salomon....rossignol...head...line....armada.etc.?

what kind of helmet does woodsy use?
where Fabian Bosch?
gotta get spinnin to get paid am i right boys and girls?
do future spinssss, get paiiiiiiiiddd :P what was that video again?
How can you "grab" your skis if you already have a pole in each hand? An I missing something on my small screen, a pinkie finger "grab" perhaps?😂
They strapped their poles. Also, if you have somewhat large hands you can hold your poles and skis at the same time.
@@saucysauce593 exactly what I was thinking, skiers can't grab unless they are skiing without the sticks.
it seems like they don't even care if they fall?

spin to win but i prefeer creativity
