The Chainsaw Skateboard

  • What happens when you mix a free weekend, my friend Bobby, an idea, some steel, and a skateboard. the results almost always prove to be staggeringly almost the greatest thing ever. As well as ranging from slightly to very ill-advised. I'll give this one a ever-so-slightly-sketchy on the ill-advisory meter. (it's 12 minutes and 17 seconds of something you probably don't need to see, but a 12 minutes and 17 seconds that might clue you into the character of two not so average very young adults being not bored)

OK you guys may not believe this but the quoteyou say at the end of the video “Do not try this at home. We are trained amateurs. Masters in the Art of shenanigans.” Has been stuck in my head for almost 4 years now. It took me forever to find this video again and I’m glad I did.

Rode my mini bike the ither day with baggy sweatpants and got my leg caugt in the chain and sprocket and tore up my thigh. Not fun. Whiskey throttled during a sketchy part of the trail. Ok so to set the scene you just came down a hill all gravel and a mix of dry and wet leaves right after a sharp turn and then in between a tree and a tree stump you have to go over a skinny ramp which has a tree behind it. You have to turn while hitting the jump so you dont go into the tree. I hit a root after sliding on the gravel and whiskey throttled at the same time. My friend broke a ball joint on his quad trying to make that tight turn mid air so as soon as he hit the ground it just snapped right off lol.

QUICK THOUGHT: The real culprit here is UA-cam spamming the video to every homepage. I don't think these boys anticipated for over 7 million people to watch... Give them a break, to many keyboard warriors come in to vids with top of the line expectations and think every video should be planned to a tee when in reality nothings perfect and some videos are just thrown together quick with fun clips for the people involved to look back on... I'd like to believe they would have made this way better had they known an audience of this size would be watching. RANT OVER.

Here is what you need to do to make it work. You will need to do a secondary reduction gear so that it has enough torque and doesnt stall. It may be quieter safer and easier to use a belt instead of a chain and use a pulley tensioner like the ones used on the serpentine belt of a car so that you don't have issues with the belt falling off, especially at higher RPMS.

Anyone else upset that something that doesn’t even work got 7+ million views? If they had a chain tensioner and a much smaller drive sprocket it could be useable! Still very slow but at least functional... 2:1 drive ratio plus like 40cc two stroke and a 10” wheel doesn’t equate quite right. I need to start making videos of things that actually work, just finished a motorized bicycle that does 39mph for about $60 and spare parts. No special tools, angle grinder, welder, and eyeballs.

Just for future reference; saw on ground, foot on handle makes for easier starting. And far less dangerous, what with the possibility of accidently hacking your leg off.
