Unboxing and Assembling the Oset 24.0 R

- We’re trying out an Oset 24.0. It’ll be a long-term project. The machine and I, both. We’ll challenge its performance, and my skills. And we’ll have some actual talent in the form of our own Andrew Oldar, a professional dirt bike stud and trials expert, coaching and evaluating me along the way.

Order an Oset 24.0 Racing electric trials motorcycle drop-shipped to your door and you get this: three cardboard boxes. One giant, one a little bigger than a car battery, another that's a little flat, like you ordered a pair of flip-flops. Inside is everything you need to assemble a rad little ripper of a machine.
We’re here building this bike for a very specific reason-and a fairly specific person: me. Much as I love riding in the dirt, I’m terrible at it. Specifically, I’m terrible at the high-precision, slow-speed technical riding that’s exemplified by the discipline of competitive trials. And until the arrival of the Oset, there was no sign of improvement on the horizon.
Riding in the dirt is a tall order for me these days. I’m a new dad, for a start. And I live in the geographic center of Los Angeles, one of the more famously sprawling cities on the planet. So while quick escapes to pavement are numerous, loading up a truck or a van with a dirt bike and driving three hours to a decent riding OHV area is a big ask of the family. Disappearing long enough to get good at it, or practicing my dirt bike chops in my own neighborhood? Well, that’d get me shot.
But the electric motorcycle revolution might just have my back, and the Oset 24.0 Racing might, might, be a perfect tool for sorting out some of those missing skills. If you’ve seen Motorcyclist contributor Chris Northover’s gobsmacking Storm the Embassy video on UA-cam, you’ll know that these little machines can take an astonishing amount of punishment, while delivering fairly spectacular performance. All at a neighborhood-friendly decibel level. That’s no small task.

But first, we have a bike to build.

In case anyone asks, $4400.
Doing the Lord's work
I was about to ask... thanks Jesus. Happy rebirthday
I could get a grom with that and have a grand left over
Confirmed this is about the price
@Kevin Barlage yes it's not a trials bike but the price is still way way over what it should be considering I have scene other e trials bikes of the quality and nearly half the price
Put a bike together then end it without showing off a test ride. I've had enough of this channel
Make your own then ;)
Not sure why anyone sticks around, all of their videos went from people with interesting personalities riding bikes to shitty reviews with random assholes
It's electric. They key is so you can disarm the bike so someone doesn't twist the throttle while you are just sitting there, expecting it to rev but instead it just takes off! I've seen that happen a few times and the forums are full of cautions to make sure to turn the bike off when you don't intend to ride it (either turn/remove the key or take the lanyard off).
That magnetic kill cord is super sensible for exactly that reason. There's also a little set of lights on the throttle-side of the bars that indicate the thing's on and the remaining battery. But otherwise, sitting there ready to rip, it's just dead silent.
I love it that you guys are working in your own way, creating your own "new buddies" chemistry and do not mimic the previous guys. I loved Ari and Zack, and I still do. But we all evolve, we all move on. We all have our goals and challenges. So it is nice to see a different approach. It is nice to see you not trying too hard to impress, just doing your stuff. Building a new real format of YOUR show.
I keep my fingers crossed for you and I will keep on following your content.
Id like to ride it around in my house while watching tv
Video too complicated, I ended up walking 6miles to work.
Uphill, barefoot, in 3 feet of snow
You guys want to come round and assemble my Ikea wardrobe?
Don't do it, it will take them 10hrs. Lol
Video was about 17 minutes too long.
miss the old guys
Cheff Hardwick they left ya, buddy! But good news, you can be reunited with the old guys for the low low cost of five bucks a month at motortrendondemand.com.
So no footage of actually riding the bike ?
Oh, you'll get plenty. Stay tuned.
@@chriscantle2249 still waiting?
$4400?!? I built a 1000w bicycle, cost me about $600. $400 for the battery and $200 for bolt on kit. Same battery wattage/voltage.
I'm not saying this thing isn't fun to ride, but that is a very steep price for what it is.
How well does it do at the local trials club?
I like how some of the bikes you've reviewed have been shipped directly to you in a box. How many cereal box tops does it take?
The bike, which is designed for jumping and active driving, huge battery holds by Velcro??? for 4400$? SERIOUSLY?
$4400. USD - $6600 aud. not bad value for us Australians. thats like 2 months rent of a Sydney CBD apartment.
U can get it for 2000 if u order it from the uk
Ride it!! Review it!! Not even a lead-in as to whether or not they will review it later...really guys?
Adam going to do a Oset 24.0 R commute review! Looking forward to that.
I know this was supposed to be an informative vid, but I kinda liked watching the subtle frustration. Neat bike though.
I wish more bikes came like that. I bet it would be significantly cheaper because of the assembly costs and size reduction while shipping.
Been on one a couple Times it’s a great bike very good for terrain such as Rocks hills logs overall pretty good born
daaaaaang I want one!
This looks improvised. I don't want to see vlogs. The older videos were always well built, well scripted. I wish this was a well made 6 minutes video, with some low volume sound playing, an intro and some good camera movement, not a Tripod. Also, so many jump cuts. You can do better than this guys. I still believe in this channel
how many horses does it have? cause from my research it only has a little bit more then one.
Graphite haven’t run it on the dyno and probably won’t, so no idea. Torque though, it has in great heaping handfuls.
@@chriscantle2249 torque is always insane on electric Motors
It’s rated at 1400 watts, but excellent torque. I weigh 190 pounds, my Oset pulls me up steep hills no problem, even climbs up stairs easily.
I want to see it in action!
Brutal.
Is the front tire tubeless
These guys are so excruciatingly boring. What happened to the other guys?
I dunno guys if I trust that little Velcro strap holding that battery in there... How did it hold up?
Holding up just fine! Lots more on this little ripper to come, but long story short, we're super pumped.
how much?
can you order anything and have it shipped to your house? like can buy a ninja 125?

Good job guys.. but you didn't say: "what is this doo-hicky?" : not one time.. lol
So much cringe. Just RTFM!
So Oset is made in Taiwan. hmm
Please make a video for how much engine power or CC do i need for fat tires like 230or 240 big size...?
Is it legal to ride as a normal bike
wait .... pedal bikes in america have the brakes the wrong way round....... why in the hell lol
Awkward video to watch.
wow electric, thin rotor
I have the same 180mm rotor on my eBike, and it weighs the same. they are Avid 1800mm rotors, plenty of stopping power for my 230#, uh sveltness
عرب
Does it not come with a seat lol
It's a trials bike
😂😃
Trials bikes don’t have seats usually but you can get one from Oset separately.
4k wtf!!! \=|
I’m going to buy a Ducati anyway, so there is no point on watching this channel anymore
What does a ducati have to do with a electric trial bike
