    at 24. Re vocabulary, I have always used words just a tad above my kids level, and encouraged them to ask me what do you mean? Including in the multiple stories I would tell as they were growing up.

    To your point about doing uncomfortable things to get better at them: back when I was a kid (1980s) I didn't like making phone calls. In high school, I decided to overcome that and volunteered to call everyone in our church youth group member list each month, to try to get them to come to events. This was something like 80 kids that I was calling monthly, and since it was pre-everyone-having-their-own-cell-phone, I was frequently reaching parents or siblings and having to ask to speak to the person I was trying to reach. It really did work, and I got past that fear of using the phone as a result.

    No matter what I ask my teen she says, “potato!” What does that mean? She makes average grades in school. Sarcasm? She literally acts like a 6 year old sometimes when she’s in the 10th grade.

    Your thumbnails aren't so bad as I heard. Btw talant is important but if you are not motivated (or not able to bring that motivation), talant is useless.
