I’m so happy that I’m not the only commuting college student out there. I drive about 40 minutes to my local university and I couldn’t be happier with this decision. It saves me so much money and it’s so much better for my mental health.
i commute 30 mins to my university. i wish i could live on campus to have the experience, but it’s ✨expensive✨and i like coming home to a sense of familiarity and being on my own.
Nessa even when i lived on campus last year AND joined a club, I still didn’t make friends unfortunately. But luckily this year is so much better. My friends are in my major which is good enough for me so it does get better :) just talk to people in your classes as much as possible and just be yourself!! Even though I don’t live on campus, I still try and see people during breaks and such and do hw. It’s nice :) (and I commute now btw)

I had the same experience with college! Transfering back home and commuting to a local university was one of the best decisions I ever made. I wish they wouldn't push living on campus so much. If I knew back then what I understand now, I wouldn't have spent the money to dorm my freshman year. It's just not worth the money and the toll it had on my mental health too. We literally have the same experience!!
I also commute to Uni every day! I travel to a different city and it takes me roughly 2hrs one way. I like to use my time on the train to study! Sometimes I wish I could just live on campus✨ just imagine the time it would save! Or better don’t 😂😅

I just saw your transfer story and can i just say I really RELATE to you on everything you said, from the environment, mental health, friends and the loneliness. I am currently a first year business student. I came to Uni all alone, with none of my close friends with me. I have abit of anxiety of being alone and meeting others alone myself. Firstly, I struggled so much adjusting to University - the pace, the scads and expectations. It wss a lot to take in and I couldn’t handle the workload I had to do. I was studying 7 days a week non stop, didnt had a life, didn’t meet my friends. The whole semester felt like hell to me. I was crying almost every day for the past few months. It was so damaging to my mental health and worsened my depression. Secondly, not having friends made the uni journey even worse. I have my friends but no friends in University. I do meet people from projects but I could make/find any genuine connections with ppl that was two way and clicked. It was mentally and physically draining and till today I am uncertain if my Uni is for me. I want to major in marketing and I am thinking if my degree in business is right for. And I am also considering to study overseas, for a new environment for myself , my mental health and just a new change and start for myself. (I know this video was a few years back but Just wanted to say you are not alone and I understand how u felt & I am glad you find your way out and you are in a much better place for yourself!)

This is so helpful! I’m an incoming freshman this year and because of Corona, it’s very likely that I will commute from home. Hopefully I won’t have any regrets commuting and still have a fun freshman year without staying in the dorms! 😂

I'm a commuter student too and its so true by how much money I save! I attend the University of Central Florida in Orlando and rent in Orlando in general and student housing is so incredibly high. I'm so fortunate that my parents let me live at home, rent free, while I attend college.

I'm a bus commuter. My campus is only about 20 minutes away by car but because of where I live and the bus system in my city, it takes me about 50 minutes to get to class. That seems like a really long time, but I actually enjoy my commute because I see lots of people that I know on the bus and have made lots of friends that way! Great vlog as always, Hannah!

i commute too. im in first year, its been slightly harder to make friends but i feel i get more done because i dont have distractions from dorm life.
Nessa agree!! It can be more difficult to make friends but also you have more privacy and don’t get distracted until 2am every night lol
