Another great video, Diego. I just finished building my "construction shed" cabin on the banana farm I just started in a rainforest on my islands highest mountain in the Caribbean with makita battery powered tools, a generator, and my faithful old Toyota pickup truck. You inspired me a few weeks ago to get StarLink, so that's finally coming. I'll be installing it on a power pole I salvaged after hurricane Irma. You make all this look easy, and the inspiration I get is enough for this amateur to get a roof over my head and plan for improvements I know I can handle alone, because my cats sure aren't much help. Thanks man! 🤘
In europe we have also a lot of wood buildings also. In Estonia we have entire towns with wood houses only. I live at log house that is over 100 years old and sure it will last another 100 years. Still that caulking looks funny to me because you can build without that building will last many years.
Great job! Wish you didn’t have to work alone. I do a lot of my work alone, but I have kids that are getting older and help me a lot. Awesome life you are making!
Thank you for great, entertaining educational viewing, this from a chap far better at demolition than creating. Oh yes, and in Scandinavia an awful lot of the homes are built with wood, jolly fine they are too!
You looked like you've lose some weight. I hope it's intentional and that you've been taking care of yourself 😊 I'm a big fan of your works. My OCD brain love your attention to details. I think your channel deserves more following, but maybe it's a matter of time for the algorithm to start picking it up. Btw, I'm watching from the archipelago, Borneo to be exact - thought of telling you to give you some encouragement 💪
Hey Diego, I’m in Sweden and in Scandinavia we build with wood as well, now we even build Woden high rises, and our wood building stands for 100s of years. So wood is great, often better then stone, a hell of a lot better insolated. But we do build different, for example: the tyvek shuld be on the inside of the of the outer walls to protect the moist warm air indoor to work its way in to the wall and mould, the siding of the outside should protect from rain but som can get in but airs our quickly. My theory of why I read so much on moulding houses in the us I think is because of this. We don’t build walls with 2x4 or 2x6 lumber, it’s 2x8 and the a 2x2 for the installation layer. So 10” insolation in walls and minimum 15” in out ceilings. We usually don’t chalk on the outside, we put a thin metal sheet that is bent fastened under the siding to cover vertical boards. Just some examples. You are doing a fantastic job.
Nice work. You're very good at coming up with solutions and thinking creatively. Interesting you mention Europeans and building materials. I watch another Diego who's redoing a 200 yr old house in France and he's using SO much concrete!! Lol.
Great work & good attention to details. The cabin is coming together nicely. I really enjoy these cabin videos & also the ones with Al. It is such a peaceful place. If we were close enough, my wife & I would definitely want to rent it from you for a few days. Keep up the good work & God bless.
Great job. Looks amazing. Keep up the amazing work. Love your videos. Thanks so much for inspiring all of us. Looking forward to your next video. Have the greatest day ever, love and peace.
The top 2x6 treated boards will last about 20 years but those beams you salvaged might not unless they have been treated. The way to make it last longer would be a covered roof over your porch. I have a similar deck that is out in the weather and I will be replacing it after twenty years of use. This time I might put a roof over it. Also Keep the Al vids coming. Cheers
Aloha from Hawai'i handsome! 🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾I always look forward to your videos. It's interesting and very educational. Please take care and try not to be exposed to the elements for long periods of time. You can't be getting sick!
Those Brooks timbers are cross arms used in the electric industry. They will be wolmanized or CCA treated and will last ok. They are made to withstand outdoor elements high up on a pole or structure.
I am also working in rain I put up a cheap canopy I bought from harbor freight years ago but dang the wind keeps lifting it up! But I got all my cuts done and covered with tarp and blocks will get back out tomorrow to finish these above ground beds
Hey there, Diego. A new subscriber here. :) I've been watching your video accidently from a random UA-cam timeline, and then I just fallen in love. Keep doing the great work, and believe me: you're inspiring us. *sorry for the lateness to click on the subscribe button..* Love from Malaysia, brother.
Diego, great videos. Thoroughly enjoying all of your videos. I know you use a Go Pro for recording. What software do you use to create edit your videos? Thanks again for great videos!
Every time I see you crawl under your house the only thing I can think of is, are there snakes. You couldn't just have a remote cabin in the southeast without checking for snakes. Our codes here are very strict about poured concrete foundation and footers. We have a huge termite problem in SC, the soil has to be treated before concrete can be poured and any wood coming in contact with concrete must be pressure treated. Would be interested in hearing about your rules on building and also, do you have snakes (aka Eddie No Shoulders).😊
I have a somewhat similar construction wooden door (with less tight tolerances) and it tends to either get stuck quite badly when the weather is humid. And fact that lumber is treated did not help too much :-|
Am I the only one that sees the potential issue with the hook for the crawl space during a windy night? It will be a nice rattling sound ... all...night...long
I am sure your cabin is not completely air tight so I hope you did not mean you would be running it under there that would be very dangerous for carbonmanoxcide. I hope you ment just to store it there.

My man 🫡 Sounds like paradise. Keep grinding brother.
those posts have holes because they were railroad cross arms. the holes are where the anchors went that the glass insulators screwed on

So i don't think at all like that you think. Wood is great material for building.
Great job! Wish you didn’t have to work alone. I do a lot of my work alone, but I have kids that are getting older and help me a lot.

So proud of you, young man. Very impressive. Again, great video. Keep 'em coming.
Thiết kế căn nhà rất đẹp thật tuyệt vời👍

Your camera work is really improving. The angles in this video were great! IMO.
Just a tip. If you adjust your skill-saw depth to clear only by the lowest belly groove you’ll create less resistance and it’ll track smoother.
I think you have a beautiful cabin and the work you are doing to it is great well done it will be lovely when you finish all the work your doing x❤😊
One thing I don't miss out about the PNW is the November's and December's..rain rain rain.
I really enjoyed this video! I just discovered you and I will keep on watching you. KC Don 😉 (Kansas City)
Love these cabin videos man keep them coming
You have a beautiful home, love your attention to detail!
keeep rocking!!!!!
those 4"x6" beams are actually hydro cross arms probably douglas fir! they will outlast the pressure treated wood
Very good job
Get some kind of a tarp with some poles to put it on top of the area that you are working on. Makes a huge difference)
I am also working in rain I put up a cheap canopy I bought from harbor freight years ago but dang the wind keeps lifting it up! But I got all my cuts done and covered with tarp and blocks will get back out tomorrow to finish these above ground beds
I found your page by chance and love all your projects. Also love your adventures with Al
Great channel!👏
Great pride in work...

Great job Diego
Isopropyl alcohol helps smoth out caulking better flow
Diego, great videos. Thoroughly enjoying all of your videos. I know you use a Go Pro for recording. What software do you use to create edit your videos? Thanks again for great videos!
Check everything for being level
Nice job! Are you planning to wrap the whole place in decking?
Just dip finger in a small cup of isopropyl and have a rag to wipe off excess caulking from finger
Beautiful work no insulation ? Does not need insulation around on those boards you are framing around the bottom
😊😍

Howzit I notice the sticker on you bumper. You live in Hawaii before

Using carpenter language
You are "running the deck boards wild". Then cutting them off square when complete 21:42
Are you using ethanol or ethanol free gas for your generator/ chain saws?
Only use ethanol free
Ya should put a 6inch piece of tar paper over your joice .Acts like a roof so water doest touch top or sides .lastlong time
i want a al update
Beams look like telephone/electric pole crossarms
Paint the end of your partially rotted beam with copper based anti fungal paint.
You couldn’t back truck to garage opening and cut out of rain ? Lol
I am sure your cabin is not completely air tight so I hope you did not mean you would be running it under there that would be very dangerous for carbonmanoxcide. I hope you ment just to store it there.
