I can't believe how many musicians, who cover this song or teach how to play it, fail to figure out such a simple guitar riff. Judging by the YT videos, most people do not notice the open B at the end of the riff (2:14). It is nice to see a correct tutorial.
I'm glad I found this one. I've been trying to learn how to do the guitar for this song for a little while now, and every "guitar lesson/tutorial" for this song, they just never sounded right. They didn't sound like the actual guitar in the song. So, yeah. I'm really glad I found this.
I am so happy you did this. Only because my ear is getting better. Knew I had heard those chords and it definitely helps since you keep the same tone through most of your videos. It's the intro to Interstate Love Song, just rearranged!
@@RyanLendt An excellent question! I'd like to think that in the grand scheme of things, my canoe and I floating by was of no greater significance to mother nature than a bird's whistling or a frog's croaking :)
Hey Ryan, AWESOME choice!! This song is off "Surfer Rosa", one of the greatest albums of all time. Can you do the "Break My Body" song off the Surfer Rosa album as well. I think I hear some sinister-sounding octave chords played in "Break My Body." Thanks Ryan, take care.
Hey buddy thank you again for do this request for me. The Pixies are supporting Pearl Jam in London next year and I got myself tickets!!! 15 days before I get married. How lucky is that? I may invite them all 😂👍
Is this just G, D, and Em maybe? But on a funky small guitar. I haven’t played with it enough. I feel like he must have the E tuned down a whole step. He gets a very ringy bass note. I just need more time and I could figure it out. But you can probably hear it once and figure it out. 😊
yep, the bass note is a low D... but the man is so large compared to the guitar that is so small that my associations are off and it's hard to tell if he's playing a D shape or a G/B shape, and what string the high walks are happening on. I thought I heard him play a high A on top of a D chord when he reached his pinky up to the 5th fret, but couldn't tell if it was the B string or the E string. Like I said, this would be quite the exhaustive investigation...
Thank you Ryan for the lesson from The UK 🇬🇧 BTW notice your strapping on your Elbow,is it Tennis Elbow,as I have mine strapped up,been on a few weeks now urghhhh.
After not playing baseball for 15 years I decided it was a good idea to join a wood bat league and pitch. Boy was my elbow upset. I gave it rest, ice, and even tried acupuncture. Took 2 years to get 85% better and only in the last couple months is it 100%. Look into earthing. I swear that's what brought me over the finish line.
@@RyanLendt wow, I too use to play baseball, but our UK version is a lot different...Ryan I can't even pick a kettle or pint glass up.My next door neighbour Franki was Thd Roadie To AC/DC from there Back in Black and For Those About To rock World tours, and was with Brian Johnson in his Geordie days ( lots of great Stories he told me on the road with them) anyway he said to me as I was learning the solo to Blackbird Alterbridge,he said try occasionally swinging your arm like Pete Townsend,as its pulling on that muscle in the elbow,I have exercises of UA-cam that's helping, but I will definitely look into yours..Thank you mate...I have learnt so many songs off you mate, your a superb teacher, thank you...
Hello,Ryan I have a great idea!! No one on UA-cam has done a clear instruction video for shinedown burning bright/I dare you/ Any chance on doing one? Would be cool! Thanks,
not only would it be not too much to ask for, I would enjoy making that video very much! I've taught kids that song so many times I know the whole damn thing off the top off my head. Sometimes at parties people don't believe me, and I respond by playing the whole thing, after which they are very sorry they asked.
Stay golden Ryan Boy ... Stay golden..
you too buddy

You’re the master Ryan. You turtle lovin’, guitar strumming sum of a gun you!!!
I am so happy you did this. Only because my ear is getting better. Knew I had heard those chords and it definitely helps since you keep the same tone through most of your videos. It's the intro to Interstate Love Song, just rearranged!
I'm impressed Chris, it is ISL rearranged! Same key :)
I absolutely love that song thanks for teaching it!
You're very welcome David :)
Sweet mate. Great song great lesson.
Thanks Kristy's man! heretofore referred to as KM :)

I'd imagine an immediate add to your repertoire JT :) thanks!
It certainly is, I’m currently learning this to finish off my badly played Nothing Else Matters.

You must be psychic, Ryan! That's the song I've planed to learn next! Thanks!
it's not special powers, it's just the gnomes telling me :P you're welcome LWK!
Has to be one of the most fun songs to play on a telecaster with the amp dimed.
I wholeheartedly agree.
Sucks that I'm just learning this in my 40s versus learning it years ago. Better late than never. At least I can pick this up faster now.
the best day to plant a tree is 10 years ago. the second best day is today.
Pixies! I'm here for it, Kev!
I have a cousin Kevin, oh and my 7 iron is named Kevin.
@@RyanLendt This golf club's gone to Kevin? Man, Pixies fit just about everywhere.
Thanks dude 👍🏻
This song is a good time :)
Oh boy, 4 whole lessons to catch up on! The King's Creek has now been canoed, which was a good time as well.
To which, I trust, you did not say no :) Now the question begs: does king's creek KNOW it has been canoed?
@@RyanLendt An excellent question! I'd like to think that in the grand scheme of things, my canoe and I floating by was of no greater significance to mother nature than a bird's whistling or a frog's croaking :)
Thank you buddy.... awesome video!!! 🤘
welcome Blade - thanks for saving the day!
Awesome lesson bro. Love this song. The cover of it in the movie "Suckerpunch" is really great too.
Thanks Brandon :) I have not seen that movie!
@@RyanLendt it's really cool actually. You should check it out. And that version of the song.
awesome, one of the best songs ever :)
definitely one of the best songs ever

Great lesson as usual, More Pixies please, oh yeah and "St.Cecilia" by Foo Fighters, give it a listen I think you might like it. Thanks again!!!!
all of that and more will definitely happen. Thank you Robbie!
Oh man, I've just realise that I really need a Tele. It sounds so awesome! I really need it. BTW, great tutorial - but that is nothing new 😎
everyone needs a tele. Thanks ABC!
Hey, Ryan! I love that guitar lesson, but can you a campfire version of that song and use your acoustic guitar, please?
i very nearly responded "this song can't be campfired" - but then i picked up my guitar and it's a really fantastic idea thanks EOA!
Hi Ryan, thanks for all your video's. May I request "For the Movies" by Buckcherry? (having some trouble with the pre-chorus)
that's odd, two buckcherry request lately! I hear a minor 4 in that song, which means I like it :)

oh, PJ to the wedding - I thought you meant wedding guests to the PJ concert...
Hahahaha yeah PJ not the crowd... I am surfing the morning of my wedding so hopefully the will be the deal breaker for them... hope your good buddy 👍

Ryan Lendt haha. It’s a great song to work on barre chords.
Acoustic left that out....
which would be playing the chords the whole time
This guy has such bad tone
