what if scenario-a pieace of trash blows onto the track and the pod recognizes it as something blocking it's path ,so the pod decides to stop til it is removed by a janitor/groundskeeper. so your trapped in a pod out on the bridge by a piece of trash for 30-60 minutes.as the pods computerized voice says- in a minute like bobby on king of the hill. : )

This is so cool. I hope we can get a system like this somewhere in the States some time soon (either in an airport or in the cities).

this is the one reason i still use check out lines with people rather than self check out. some people need these jobs to earn a living instead of being displaced by machines/tech/computers.

That is a nice little system...see it working only in very spesific situations and i dought it will be replacing the public bus any time soon, But for small spesific tasks like this looks great could also see it being an interesting novalty in larger shopping centres, or padestrianised high streets. Or hell park and rid.

The real name was Gaypod but for outside press use they temporarily changed that. Total GP1 - 21.

And England belongs to the United Kingdom, yes. British people use the term 'Europe' to refer to the landmass on the other side of the English channel/North Sea, where things work differently, i.e. people keep right, pay with Euros, have high speed trains etc. etc. It's therefore a whole lot easier just to refer to Europe instead of having to name every single one of those countries.

@vakeraj It has some major advantages over a rail line: [1] it can go up and down steeper gradients, eg hop over a road and down into the car-park [2] a pod waits for you, not vice versa [3] it goes straight to your destination by the shortest route.

    • @gnnascarfan2410

It's a niche system for a niche problem. It's not different than monorail. Outside of the steeper gradient problem, conventional rail and light rail is superior in every way to the pods.

@MikeoWar Dude, you don`t got it when I said this thing is not the future of mass transport.
I don`t see how busses, subways or any sort of transport can be replaced by slow-moving pods that carry only four people and need expensive rail structures to operate.
According to the video, this pod is told by designers to be the future of mass transit. No need to tell that it won`t be. And stop trolling if you don`t even know what you`re talking about.

That's the future. All menial, repetitive jobs will get replaced by automation. Jobs involving repetitive, boring and sometime down right humiliating tasks should be seen as an insult to human dignity. Human minds should be used for creative thinking and innovation, not as control mechanisms for relatively simple tasks.
It is true to say that someone is only capable for only a task of driving a bus is a reflection on the current state of humanity that needs to be changed.

This is far from a novel idea that could revolutionize personal transport. Back in the 70's I rode guided track vehicles at places like Six Flags and Stone Mountain Park, Georgia. I had my own little race car looking "personal transport" that operated on a closed loop. I couldn't deviate from the track no matter how many times I tried to jump it for my Great Escape. At worst it was like bumper cars with nobody else to bump into. The same idea was applied to the paddle boats at Stone Mountain Park. They were human powered and there were outboard powered versions. They held up to 2 people. And were basically bumper cars for their lake. An area was roped off for younger folk where the water was shallow. Older riders could go out to deeper waters. Even their two paddle boats used an underwater track for a closed loop tour of the park.

How can we meet the future, in the present? That's like knowing something before you know it. And if the future is the present, does that mean we're living in the past in the present?
Doesn't make sense, does it? That thing, those transport pods, they definitely exist within the realm of time we call the present. We can't invent something before it's invented, therefore we cannot create something that doesn't exist before it exist.
(Would I get an A if this was a philosophy test?)

more jobs people could be doing earning a living and generating income to spend at other businesses.to make the economy continue at all levels
one question what do the passengers do if they have a medical emergency but there is no driver to communicate this as the one and only live passenger collapses on the floor of the pods. pure genius death/murder by pods.
