I’m an LA native and when I was growing up the festival was really rock and roll - it was started by Pearl Jam to boycott the atrociously steep prices of tickets that were being bought out by Ticketmaster and whom their fans couldn’t afford - the festival was created for the fans to sell them reasonably priced tickets- back then it was all rock bands like the cure, Pearl Jam, Morrissey etc playing

3rd Coachella this year and I decided to try camping. I know this may be anecdotal, but I had the BEST experience and don’t plan on getting a hotel if I go back again.
$300 for a preferred camping spot which put us at a 2 minute walking distance from the entrance. Easy way to make alcohol trips back to your car instead of paying stupid prices in the venue. The same goes for food. Pack a small propane grill and cook at your camp site. Plan smart and do research on how to assemble efficient set ups to keep you warm and organized.
You can upgrade to the nice showers for $10 a day. There you’ll also have outlets and mirrors to get ready with an approx wait time of 5-10 minutes to get in.
No one around us was playing loud music to the point we couldn’t sleep, but I hear people use ear plugs to drown out the noise. You can find people selling GA tickets for $500 online. All in all, we spent about $1700 in total for 2 people.
Main drawback for me was the wind at night. Dress warm, and secure your tents/canopies.

Grass is a type of plant with narrow leaves growing from the base. A common kind of grass is used to cover the ground in places such as lawns and parks. Grass is usually the color/colour ‘green’. Grasses are monocotyledon herbaceous plants. The grasses include the "grass" of the family Poaceae. This family is also called Gramineae. The f amily also include some of the sedges (Cyperaceae) and the rushes (Juncaceae).[1] These three families are not closely related but all of them belong to clades in the order Poales. They are similar adaptations to a common life-style.
The true grasses include cereals, bamboo and the grasses of lawns (turf) and grassland. Uses for graminoids include food (as grain, sprouted grain, shoots or rhizomes), drink (beer, whisky), pasture for livestock, thatching thatch, paper, fuel, clothing, insulation, construction, sports turf, basket weaving and many others.
Many grasses are short, but some grasses can grow very tall, such as Bamboo. Plants from the grass family can grow in many places and make grasslands, including areas which are very arid or cold. There are several other plants that look similar to grass and are referred to as such, but are not members of the grass family. These plants include rushes, reeds, papyrus and water chestnut. Seagrass is a monocot in the order Alismatales.
Grasses are an important food for many animals, such as deer, buffalo, cattle, mice, grasshoppers, caterpillars and many other grazers. Unlike other plants, grasses grow from the bottom, so when animals eat grass they usually do not destroy the part that grows.[2] This is a part of why the plants are successful. Without grass, soil may wash away into rivers (erosion). (The thing the definition forgot is grass is apparently an allergy to “gamers”.)

I dunno, I had an amazing time at Coachella and camped. The worst part was actually driving into the camp grounds. Took literal hours but everyone was partying and playing music and talking so it was still kinda fun. Also if you have a good camp set up and make friends with your neighbors it’s comfy and very chills. Most campers pack their own food and drinks so it’s not too expensive to eat if you plan properly. It’s true the crowd is dead though at the main stages.

Went to Coachella this year and I can confirm the last point he made, it really is only for the rich. Everything was so expensive. Butttt I did camp and I actually had a very good experience, besides the heat it was fun to build a cool camp sight and not everyone was playing music passed curfew, I’m sure there were some but not my experience. The showers are ok not my favorite but you won’t die, the line is only really that long at night after the day ends but in the morning it wasn’t too bad

Not me in Coachella it is expensive but in California is isn’t too much too be exact and there is no loud music where I live plus where I eat is home made or McDonald’s so it is not as bad as people think it depends on which part of it you go to

I don't understand the hype around Coachella , why waste tons of money on it every year is important to other people, i don't know, it's not like you will die if you don't go to a music festival
With that money , i can buy tons of stuff and still have money left , or spend it on a learning course , or the gym , or just save them for later
It's like people love being ripped off

maybe it’s just not for you man, not everyone can have a fun life. Some people just live to die.
