  • Do you remember these two Trident Maples that I turned into "Bruce Lee" and "Sumo" a few month ago? They have grown a lot of foliage since then so we are going to trim them today. I will talk about the appearance of Trident Maple leaves, how to create the apex, and how to cut branches to create pads.

    I’m slowly starting to see branches growing in the wrong direction and see them as “nope, don’t like that”
    I appreciate your teachings

    I remember the video when you put these two maples together and told the idea of two fighters. I am glad that they are happy with each other and are doing so well.
    Thank you, mr. Milton, for teaching us.

    Hi Milton, seeing the whole concept come together is fantastic, it is like a book nook in a way, a glimpse into a small vignette of an imaginary world.

    Bonsai should be fun. I tell my son this often. When he was ten he asked me about why I have stuff hanging from the branches. So I told him these trees come from the mountains and have to deal with snow. So I would use lead that I flattened out to catch the wind to stimulate the branch to thicken and deal with the weight of the snow. l could have wired them, but they were young and I was not in a hurry. I also feel that the affect on the branches were more natural with the weights. OK, done with lecture. Love your channel.

    Thank you for the useful video, Mr. Chang. Could you please give some instructions on growing a ficus ginseng bonsai, for example: soil, watering, cutting, etc.

      Please go on the internet to find out more about what you mean...Ficus, OK, Ginseng OK, but not sure what is ficus ginseng.
      There is a focus coming up shortly...I just taped one.
      People to grow Ginseng commercially...but it is not a tee...I suppose it has prettyleaves and can live multiple yearsl...so it could be a potted plant.
      Hve fun!

      Is not the tree you refer to a ficus whose root or roots have swollen and then are uncovered to be a trunk? The original trunk is then cut low and new branching developed, I suppose. It is not a style that appeals to me . . . don't understand what is wrong with creating a more feminine bonsai.

    Irrelevant, but I’ve had a lot of luck with the cheapest possible zip ties. They seem to work long enough to redirect small branches, but break before they damage the branch. And as always, I’m careful to pick up the broken zip ties and dispose of them.

    • @MiltonChang-ee6rq
      @MiltonChang-ee6rq Місяць тому

      Zip ties are very convenient...usually too short in most cass/...maybe use it in combination with ropes...to adjust to the right distance.
      Thanks for sharin g your insight.

    Really offensive with your comparison of Sumo VS Bruce Lee! Really makes no sense at all. Please choose better in the future with the beautiful art of Bonsai.
