Thank you for this! I acquired this exact model after my father-in-law passed away several years ago. Back then I found it too complicated, so I stored it away. Your video is very easy to follow and understand. I plan to set it up tonight and align it. Since I had Lasik surgery in 2014, the stars are no longer clear, they are very blurry and doubled. (they told me that may be a side effect of the surgery 😥) I can't wait to see the stars clearly again plus the other spectacular sights I will have the privilege to see. Thanks again!
A very nice video!! Please let us know the camera software program you used for your phone. I know it was years ago but please let us know what you used... Thank you ..
Hello. I am wondering why there was so much background light around Andromeda and Orion in the images when stacking. Is it because of light pollution? Thanks.
I bought a camera from Japan. But its mode is in Japanese. I would like to change the language to English. Could you please show me how to change the language? And where did you buy the tripod? I really need it.
okay this is going to sound radical, but just today I took mine out after several years of no use, and I had the red screen but nothing else. I started to take it apart (from watching other videos) to try to fix it myself. I got it halfway apart, then chickened out, so I snapped it back together and to my huge surprise the display came back on perfectly. I guess it was a loose connection inside there. I can't wait to get star gazing tonight!
Use contact cleaner on connections. I have a few etxs. The controller connections are a weak point. Sometimes just unhook rebook and a reboot brings them back. I had to replace one once.
Pretty sure these are discontinued. I am bidding on one right now its a decade old. Do you find having it worthwhile? Does it track objects? Or does it just point you in the direction?
I happen to have this exact model that I acquired after my father-in-law passed away several years ago. At that point he had it for several years. I took it home and tried it but found it too complicated, so I stored it for a rainy day. Fast forward to today (literally). I dusted the mildew off of the box fully expecting that the years spent in my cellar had ruined it. The Autostar controller display did not come on properly, it showed only a dim red flickering screen. I decided to try to take it apart and try to fix it, and started to, then chickened out and snapped it back together VIOLA! the display came on perfectly and I am sitting her enjoying reading the instructions as they scroll by. I plan to bring the scope out tonight to align it and hopefully see something spectacular! Stay tuned, I will let you know how it works out :)
This tutorial is very helpful with the initial set up. The written instructions in the manual are very hard to understand, as the astrological terms are not familiar to new users like me.
Best tutorial I have seen and I have watched ALOT. I usually have to watch 3/10 to answer the questions I'm thinking of
Glad it was helpful!
Very interesting! I have a ETX-70. Which App did you use???

How do I get my phone to stack photos as you did in the video
Great job on your video!!!
Thank you so much 😊😊
Great video, thanks! Where did you acquire the phone adapter, and what app are you using for the photography? Well done!!
What pp were you using and how did you mount your phone?
Isn't there a built in Barlow or something? How does that work? Is it removable? Because I'm picking one up to use it for more wide observations
