- Tanabata is the “Star Festival” celebrated on July 7th (7/7) every year. There are various cities and places in Japan that put on a celebration, Kappabashi near Asakusa is one of them. In the episode, Peter and I check out the festival in Central Tokyo and give our thoughts on ... lost love. So - the legend goes that two lost lovers were separated by ...

Thank you to Peter and Jyoji vG for joining us on this live stream:
ua-cam.com/channels/VxvUCGUwLrAwH9_3q5q00g.html the stream quality is in and out because of the crowded location but I hope you can enjoy the Tanabata Festival 7/7 here in Japan! -john
Did you turn the resolution down to make the stream more stable John? If so it seems to have worked. The stream was more stable but the resolution was low. Still better then Minecraft and constant buffering though.
So many festivals and culture events in such a technologically advanced country. Amazing!
John! Thank you for your videos, really informative like every time, since I do not go to Japan it's a pleasure to discover other things and this festival! Thank you.
It was great running into you guys at the festival. As usual, great content!
Brian Brey thank you Brian! Really glad you stopped to say hi 👋 had so much fun today!

Speaking of cucumber, a drink made with them is really refreshing.

Mr. Daub: Any final words Von-nie?
Von: You split my drink, now prepare to die!

Guy with the spikes reminds me of me when I was 15yrs old , I was into heavy metal back then .
Thanks for taking us to the kitchen town and I love the tanabata story. I Enjoyed your video as always!!
Peter did a great job telling it to us.
I love this holiday. Celebrations of love and my birthday lol
JD! You and PvG gonna go this year, too?!
This video is one of my sleeper faves, and deserves way more plays and likes! It is an absolute treasure trove of quotable content from all three of the Stooges 🤣
I didn't watch this live and just heard the same comment.....LOL!!! I enjoyed it when you turned his hat around and pushed it down!
The funniest episode thus week. 🤣
Thank you so much Peter for correcting Johns American Pronunciation of Asakusa, keep on him with that. My Japanese friends can’t stand it because the meaning changes.
I know of tanabata because of the anime the melancholy of haruhi suzumiya also mentioned in a song called kimi no shiranai from supercell/ryo from bakemonogatari
Great to see the gang back in action!!!! Wow great you guys watching the World Cup also!!!!! I hope Belgium win it!!!!! Love to try that wasabi drink!!!! 👍

I didn't know it was tanabata. Thats why there was so much festival feeling when I went the first time to asakusa today and everyone was talking about festivals. I thought thats just they way asakusa is lol.
Cool video
@Gretchen Brown. I hope you get well soon. Have a good rest while watching John, Peter and Jyoji 💜💜💜
Hey john, I brought a few japanese food sample making kits from ganso shokuhin sample-ya. It a pretty fun gift for people who love making crafts as well. I think they also host sample food workshops upstairs from the store, but I didn't take part in that since you need to book beforehand and it's all in japanese. Do check the place out if you do a stream on it.
I could almost hear John's brain almost explode when try to make the IG story.
Skytree = 634 meters not 643. The area is Musashi or 634 which makes it easy to remember.
That’s beautiful the friendship I mean
Hi John..glad to see you live in Japan again ..i mean after your long honeymoon break
How come people are eating and drinking while walking which is normally prohibited in Japan? Just because it is a festival?
Prohibited? It is NOT prohibited. It is just not part of the culture, but people do it all the time. More and more office workers are on the go.
(58:..) yes! gyoza can be the main course, or at least for lunch :)
The band were playing One Piece 1st Opening Song called We Are! (if I'm not mistaken)
Even if I run from crowds, I love any cultural festival style events, so there is some confrontation inside. Here in my PC chair it seems more calm and wasabinjoyable alcoholic 😁😋
Its nice to watch it and not be apart of it lol.
Can you add the link for the chicken ball place?
That band sort of reminded me of a Japanese version of the jazz bands during Mardi Gras in New Orleans ...
Im so late. Love the parade.
Awesome video uncle John :9

All I'm getting from this video is to avoid this festival at all costs! Waaaay to many tourists!
lol i would've liked to see it at night. It is interesting to see the diffrence in the festival in real life vs anime
Hi
That story sounds like it has astronomical roots
Shelley's Cloud it certainly sounds like it. The Milky Way and the stars are a big part of it.

aww Gretchen had her surgery?? i tried to reach out to her. ill donate my organs. ill talk if she needs my number. love to you Gretchen
i have handcuffs!! just kidding!
You're like the Three Stooges.....LMFAO!!!
What has Peter done to deserve 10K subscribers? Despite mega UA-camr like John as a pal plugging in every livestream he appears he can't get get people to subscribe. That says a lot. His channel is just not very interesting. It's very self-indulgent, and no one enjoys watching that.
Wow! Well, PvG is a new creator and it takes time for people to find their own voice. He's super talented and smart (and very busy as a voice artist) but I think he'll find his niche. I'll always support my friends :) and encourage them to keep at it.
@@onlyinjapanGO I know you're very loyal to your friends and that's why we adore you (one of the reasons anyway). It's just that there're tons of new UA-camrs out there who work their butt off earning one subscriber at a time, so hearing Peter say "I want 10K subscribers by my birthday" It's nothing sort of insulting I'm afraid...
