- We took the Minelab Manticore & Xterra Pro metal detectors to Bolsa Chica Beach for some fun in the sun. One of us found a nice GOLD ring!!!

I felt the same way... My brother has had them for years and I thought they were dumb. But I really like them and the holes are big enough to let the sand escape....

The railroad spike probably has a great history.
In 1902 the PE built their first interurban line from Los Angeles to Long Beach.
The PE also bought out existing streetcar systems. Their first purchase in Orange County was in 1901, when they acquired the old Santa Ana & Orange Motor Co., which ran a steam-powered car that the old timers used to call the “Peanut Roaster,” or the “Orange Dummy.”
There were three main Pacific Electric lines, and several branch lines that served Orange County, providing both passenger and freight service.
The first to be built was the Newport-Balboa line that ran down the coast from Long Beach. The trains reached Huntington Beach via Seal Beach in 1904, and the tracks were extended to Newport Beach in 1905, and finally to Balboa in 1906.

Thanks... I worked really hard on that intro and we will use it once in a while but it has to be a video we are both in... I will probably make some more when I have a chance so we can keep it interesting. It is funny... no gold for a long time and then back on a streak.... hopefully it continues. I am surprised buddy does not have a bald spot from all the kisses...lol

Thanks... had fun even though that is one of the not so good beaches to hunt. Mainly due to so many fire pits which result in tons of melted pieces of can.

Thanks... it was fun creating a new intro. I am probably going to make a few different versions to keep it fresh... Was a nice evening at the beach even though that beach is really trashy. We originally were going to our favorite beach but they closed it to work on building up a berm....

Buddy was certainly the highlight of my day with his calm demeanor and gorgeous green eyes. He really should be featured in ads for cat food or pictured on kitty litter bags. I’ve never heard of that beach and both of you practically had it all to yourselves. That gold ring was the best!!! Also, all the money. 💲Loved the views, sand dollars and the distant island. Enjoy your extra hour of sleep! ⏰🕰️⏳
Bolsa Chica is between Seal beach and Huntington Beach. We originally were going to Seal but they closed the beach to build up the berms. So we went south. It has a lot of fire pits so it is hard to hunt. Very lucky to get the ring.... Buddy is the real star. He has such character. Thank you

I'm so glad that we don't have those beach worms here. I'm not weird about bugs but I think those would gross me out to no end. That would be the end of beach hunting for me. Earthworms in the parks don't bother me. I love to hunt when it's really windy. Surface finds rock.
Yeah, these beach worms are really gross and there were dead ones everywhere... must really be bad if the birds don't even eat them??? other than filming noise, the wind at the beach adds to the fun. It also brings out the kite surfers which are cool to watch...

Thank you... Yeah, I still like the GoPro cameras. I am cleaning them up best I can and working thru the issues. They still have the best quality. I am learning more about the Action camera and will use both. It was a rough beach to hunt...very trashy but we powered thru it. Gold is always a nice score!

Thanks... was a nice evening... Christine is still recovering but feeling better. Been working on fine tuning the settings on the camera. It is easier to use than the GoPro but it takes a little more work in editing... have to do some color adjustments. I will keep using both

Buddy loves to investigate the finds... he is a little thief.... I agree about the ham. I also don't get it too often. Sacramento is nice this time of year and I have had a chance to hunt a couple times so far... Christine is not getting much rest but her days off are around the corner and I am sure she will sleep a ton...Or at least I hope she does. Filming in the evening especially at the beach is so darn pretty....

That 1978 penny was probably mine I lost it there. That was the last time I was on that beach. I graduated from Edison HS and went into the USAF in September of the same year. Good ring find. That black clip is a tablecloth clip. The rail spike may have been used as a tent stake. Good van find.
Wow, you need to go back to the beach... You have a few years on me... I graduated in 82 but up in Washington. The van brought back some cool memories.... funny how little things can trigger. We sure grew up in better times or at least that is my opinion... no video games and we actually played outside...I wish I had a detector back then...

That clamp that you found looks like one for a tablecloth. You put the clamp over the side and over the tablecloth, and it hold the tablecloth when the wind gets up.

My cat 🐈⬛ Mimi used to be all black like Buddy. She’s thirteen now and almost all of her whiskers are white now. And a couple of years ago she was pulling out her fur when she was put on some medicine and she had to wear the cone of shame till the medicine dose was corrected and the wound healed. Her fur is messed up in that area where she pulled it out into her flesh and she has a white fur ring around her neck where the cone was around her neck was.
Hum... I have notices Buddy has some white hairs here and there.... It will be interesting to see a change... Poor Mimi....13, wow... I guess we may have buddy for a long time!!! We are guessing he is under 3 years old...not sure since he was a dumpster cat

Nice intro! How did you end up liking the DJI action 4 compared to the GoPro? The item you showed at the wrap up at 31:53 in the video looks like it could be a guitar capo. Loved the video and congrats on the gold ring!
I am still learning things about the Action 4. It seems to be easier to use initially but it does require a little more post editing work. It requires a little color correction and for an action camera has a little more blur in motion. I hope to work out these issues. I will update once I have a little more time with it. You are correct about the capo....Thank you

Yes, it is getting harder to get anything at the beaches. I got so lucky on that ring. The first time I came to SoCal it was in December and people thought we were crazy out swimming but we came from Washington so it was warm to us.
Christine I feel your pain.(literally) I have a neck to shoulder blade muscle issue intermittently also. No fun !!
