Lisa Fischer has one of the best voices of all time. Such a brilliant artist and an even better person. I met her in NYC in 93 and she was so friendly and modest.
I was already loving it, but when I saw Phil Perry (my favorite song is Forever) & Bobby Caldwell doing the background vocals I died! I love all of them. Can you imagine singing w/any of them? Some of the musicians from the group Foreplay played too.
The most under appreciated voice of her era, and IMO, a voice comparable to Whitney or Mariah. She won a Grammy for this, her only album. She spent 25 years mostly touring with the great Luther Vandross and with the Rolling Stones. Lisa is still alive and singing around my native Brooklyn, NY where she lives, she is still just as beautiful, and she can still hit that F6 whistle note. She did have an earlier hit with a song called "On The Upside" under the name Xena as well.
Ok but it was Lisa's decision to remain in the background. When she was singing background for Luther. He tried and tried to talk her into having a solo career. But she choose to stay singing backup. So we can only respect her decision. We dont agree with it, but in the end it was HER decision.
@@kayrobbie5840Exactly! So when ppl say she under appreciated or underrated then I say not really as she doesn’t have the body of work as a solo artist for ppl to appreciate her vocal talent.
Loved your reaction to the GREAT Lisa Fischer! I remember when she released "How Can I Ease the Pain". She appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show and sang it live...and had everybody speechless! Her live performance in Japan though? Far beyond amazing!!
(2) more songstresses you should check out, if you are not already familiar with them, are the late great Phylis Hyman and Teena Marie♥️ Neither are with us anymore, but both are vocal powerhouses🙌🏼🔥🙌🏼 Like with Lisa, I can not help but sing along whenever I hear their songs 🎤🎶🎵🎶🎵♥️❤️♥️❤️
There was a rumor when Luther Vandross had a feud with En Vogue allegedly he said that her backup singer Lisa Fischer can sing them all under the table. Anyway, they can sing if it was true that he said that he was right. Lisa is just a vocal beast with well developed range and the power in her voice. Unfortunately, she decided not to continue on being a an artist but she could have sold millions of records or receive more awards.
Not a rumor!!! absolutely true. He kicked them off the tour and she became the opening act along with singing background for him. Lee Ritenour came to the show and saw her and invited her to sing in the earth voice concert in Japan (this concert) after whitney dropped out and the rest is history😊
YER, YES, YES!!! Miss Lisa is an A + list singer and performer! Absolutely astounding! She has a Divine gift! Bless her! Totally loved your great reaction to her greatness - similar to my own! reaction to her fabulous singing! Wow ! Thanks for featuring this!
