I've gotten many of my preps by buying bargains, close-outs, markdowns, and the 'get-you-in-the-store' sales, (where they coax you in for the really reduced items, generally with coupons, hoping you will buy more.)

I buy most of my preps on sale/clearance. Can and dehydrate as much as needed with them.
