Wanna One basically owned Korea from debut to disbandment. All their songs were hits. All the members were so damn popular (Kang Daniel is still one of the most popular solo singers in Korea) and they were on all the big variety shows in Korea. Everybody wanted a piece of them! They were only active for like two years (the group was temporary because it was from a survival show), but over these two years they won 49 awards and 49 first places on music shows. I think it's kind of hard to understand how popular they were if you didn't experience it, but it was absolutely insane.

Everytime i hear energetic i can't stop thinking ab how Hui produced it and it shows, it screams a hui produced song... and how aamazing is that they could sing perfeclty in the key hui and pentagon sing. They were truly remarkable, the entertainment really lost an amazing group, i am glad most of them could still be succesful after the separation
The one you always praise about the Voice is Ong Seongwu. He’s now focused as an Actor. He’s really multitalented king, he got visuals, good & stable voice, dancing king, also humorous vibes from him. His passion in acting is also so wow, his performance in debut drama at eighteen & Last drama before enlisted “Strong girl Namsoon” are awesome
Ong Seongwu’s Voice is REALLY GOOD😭 like he’s so main vocal material. His range of Vocals is so wide, especially when he belting those high notes, it’s just so wow to hear. I miss his voice so much😭💙

Wanna One was crazy popular, being a rookie group that shot straight to the top competing against EXO and BTS. It was wild. Minhyun and Jaehwan appeared in Boys Planet as Star Masters as well. I can say that WANNA ONE is the MOST SUCCESSFUL group that came from survival (produce) show even tho they only have shorts time to promote as a group. Their song ENERGETIC is still charting ‘till this day never left the chart (top 100/melon chart) since 2017. ❤
Hwang Min Hyun was part of NU'EST, a group with Pledis (you'll know that agency as Seventeen's agency). Four members of NU'EST were on the survival show but only Min Hyun made the final group. When Wanna One disbanded, he returned to NU'EST. By that time, Pledis was bought out by HYBE and NU'EST became fairly successful, winning their first music show trophy. They officially disbanded on their 10th anniversary. Min Hyun remained with HYBE and is now a soloist (as well as a successful actor/brand ambassador/MC/UA-camr). If you followed Boys Planet, he was the first Star Master, which is ironic as you know Hui (who produced Energetic) was infamously a contestant on Boys Planet, going the same route as Min Hyun (Pentagon going nowhere and trying the survival show route). But as everyone well knows, Hui did NOT make ZeroBase1; finally, most of the members of Pentagon just recently (as in THIS WEEK) left Cube but did NOT disband the group, AND they just celebrated their 7th anniversary (Pentagon Forever!!). to explain a little more about Produce 101, basically its a survival show that usually consists of 101 people fighting for their chance to debut through a bunch of different performances and challenges, then the fans vote for their favorites and the contestants with the most votes win. or at least.. thats how it should be but unfortunately these shows are usually rigged, meaning that the producers basically already chose the lineup from the start. rigging doesn’t necessarily mean that you rig someone out or in, it can also be in the form of evil editing/angel editing. still, the lineups usually end up being really good anyways but of course not everyone can be satisfied all the time. due to these rigging scandals though, X1 had to disband after only releasing their debut EP/mini album with a few months of promotion instead of their actual contract which was supposed to last for 5 years (which is a lot longer than usual survival show contracts). IZ*ONE who were also promoting at the same time as X1 were not affected in the same way by the scandal since they were already more than a year into their career at that point. In chronological order the survival shows go: Produce 101 (created I.O.I) , Produce 101 season 2 (created WannaOne), Produce 48 (created IZ*ONE), ProduceX101 (created X1), Girls Planet 999 (created Kep1er) and lastly and most recently Boys Planet which created ZEROBASEONE. About the contracts; usual kpop contracts last for 7 years before the group can decide if they want to renew their contracts and continue being in the group or not or if they want to leave the company. But survival show groups have much shorter contracts, more recently they have extended to 2 years and 6 (?) months i believe. But I.O.I for example, their contract only lasted for one year.
Fyi CIX's Seunghun and BX, Treasure's Junkyu, Hyunsuk, Doyoung and Yedam covered Energetic when they were a trainee (it's on youtube) :) I love love love Energetic, it's a really good song even until now.
Spring Breeze always makes me tear up. Every freaking time. Even 5 years later. This group was just MONUMENTAL in terms of fame during their run. It's an absolute shame they were on contracted time, because honestly, if they were still together today, I think they'd be the top group. I really do. I love that Minhyun went back to NU'EST and Sungwoon back to Hotshot but both those groups disbanded so....their discography is fire. I definitely recommend doing album listens for sure. There's not too many more MVs for you to react to so you could probably do just one more MV reaction. When you get to Beautiful though, I do recommend reacting to the prologue, the MV version, and the dance performance version. Favorite songs with MVs are I.P.U, Beautiful, Energetic, Wanna Be (My Baby), and Spring Breeze for me. There are way too many b-sides that I love for me to choose favorites. I think I love all but like 3 or 4. And I still enjoy those odd ones out, they're just not my favorite. Anyway I'll end this long paragraph here. I don't think I've ever gotten over their disbandment (even though I knew it was coming) so I ramble about them a lot when they come up lol.

Still talked about to this day, actually. The one you kept pointing out during Energetic is Ong Seongwu. Bad news for you (and me, who biased him), this gorgeous voice of his is not very used for singing nowdays, he focus on acting now. He's currently serving in the military and just the other day they had this festival and it was SO GOOD to listen to him sing and seeing him dance again! His debut (and only) album is amazing, title track is Gravity, please check it out! Funny thing that I was also against watching survival shows when Produce 101 was aired, then I listened to their debut and love it, but didn't watch the mv not until 6 months later. Seongwu picked my curiosity and I went to research his name... Ended watching their reality show all night, proceed to watch PD101 and bought a flight ticket to see them in another country in a 3 week span. They are this addicting! There's not much more mvs for you to react tho: Burn it Up (released alongside with Energetic), Beautiful (their 1st comeback, I suggest to watch the movie ver. after watching the prologue film and then the performance ver. too) and I.P.U (I Promise U, pre release from the Boomerang album). I hope you check, even if it's on your own time, some of their reality show (Wanna One GO: Zero Base is the best idol reality ever). Also, I recommend checking the other members music (Sungwoon, Jihoon and Jaehwan are my favorites). What got me into this group was the fandom. I was so amazed by how passionate they were for a short temporary group. I fell in love and honestly I still cry sometimes because I miss them all together like this. I hate and love stanning produce groups, I knew the heartbreak would kill me but I did it again and again (don't get me started on IZ*One, I'm still recovering).

I got into Wanna One a bit before they had to disband and omg their disbandment was heart wrenching, hurt alot more seeing the like disbandment concert(?) they did. They were an amazing group and I miss them BUT I actually believe they shine more in their new groups or where they are at rn. Unfortunately I feel like alot of Wannables didn't actually follow them after disbandment bc Wanna One was huge yet after disbandment some of them I don't see fans of any more.
Hui was one of the producers of Energetic alongside with Wooseok. They're both members of the group PENTAGON (Cube Ent.). It will be fun if you try to discover their discographies, you will not be disappointed. Their songs are a gem, and they are a self-produced group full of talented people (producer, choreographer, comedian, mwo~ name it all). I will wait for this moment. 'Burn It Up' came out together with Energetic, too. 'Beautiful' was my all time favorite. Edit: I commented first before watching. been supporting bae jinyoung since produce101 so i was glad to see you liking him! wanna one is the most successful rookie group thats ever existed, they paved the way basically for streaming culture bcs they set the bar too high. first debut mv in kpop to reach 100 million views, they won 101 awards in just one year (against exo and bts on major award shows such as mama, mga, golden disk award etc), first kpop group to sell 1 million album copies with their debut album, all kill on all music charts with energetic etc… they had discussions about extending their contract but one of the members dropped out, so all 11 boys ganged up together and chose to disband because they said they’re 11 or no one. they have the most beautiful friendship I’ve ever seen in kpop and they even reunited during 2021 mama because of it. They performed a brand new song there, called beautiful part 3! i think you would love it because it was a beautiful gift for the fans who’s been supporting these 11 boys since 7 years back!!
The produce series is the one which provided us with I.O.I (that featured Somi and Chung Ha among others), Wanna One, IZ*ONE and X1, all of them are legendary, but for me Wanna One was the best of them, and yes they had an expiration date which indeed was december 2018, some of them already were in groups and their companies pressured for their return, it was sad, but they've made a comeback during MAMA 2021, the only songs missing are I.P.U (I Promise You), Beautiful (that has a story version as well, super recommend it), and Burn it Up (was released alongside Energetic) And i would ABSOLUTELY recommend Ha Sungwoon (Jimin's alike), i'd suggest Electrified, Get Ready, Forbidden Island and Strawberry Gum

As someone who was a new kpop fan in 2017, this group is so close to my heart. I still remember when Wanna One debuted. I remember thinking it was so cool how one of the members and I have the exact same birthday, down to the year. Memories !
i miss this era so much. wanna one shot to fame and were bts/exo level even though the group was brand new and temporary. really wish they had renewed them somehow but i know they couldn't. they made great songs too. spring breez was sOOO sad and the way they made them say bye at their last concert was so painful lol. and i feel you about getting into groups late! if it helps the time FLEW by so quick.. i regret being a casual fan for most of it. by the time i got super into them it was time to say bye 🥲
I can appreciate them in retrospect. I didn't watch the show when it aired and just mildly paid attention to their releases since I didn't want to get attached to a project group at the time knowing they will end. As a Nu'est fan I just checked in on Minhyun. Now after their disbandment I have gotten into some of the other members. The first two seasons of Produce had shorter contracts than what IZ*ONE and X1 got and then what Girls Planet/Boys Planet get since that's just Produce rebranded name after the scandal.

Produce 101 season 2 was basically the most popular survival show EVER. Whatever popularity and hype Boys Planet had this year, double that. Wanna One was crazy popular, being a rookie group that shot straight to the top competing against EXO and BTS. It was wild. Minhyun and Jaehwan appeared in Boys Planet as Star Masters as well. Minhyun even hosted the finale.
I'd argue there's one point in Kpop History where they were "THE" Boy Group even with BTS and EXO being so popular.

I can say that WANNA ONE is the MOST SUCCESSFUL group that came from survival (produce) show even tho they only have shorts time to promote as a group. Their song ENERGETIC is still charting ‘till this day never left the chart (top 100/melon chart) since 2017. ❤
Hwang Min Hyun was part of NU'EST, a group with Pledis (you'll know that agency as Seventeen's agency). Four members of NU'EST were on the survival show but only Min Hyun made the final group. When Wanna One disbanded, he returned to NU'EST. By that time, Pledis was bought out by HYBE and NU'EST became fairly successful, winning their first music show trophy. They officially disbanded on their 10th anniversary. Min Hyun remained with HYBE and is now a soloist (as well as a successful actor/brand ambassador/MC/UA-camr). If you followed Boys Planet, he was the first Star Master, which is ironic as you know Hui (who produced Energetic) was infamously a contestant on Boys Planet, going the same route as Min Hyun (Pentagon going nowhere and trying the survival show route). But as everyone well knows, Hui did NOT make ZeroBase1; finally, most of the members of Pentagon just recently (as in THIS WEEK) left Cube but did NOT disband the group, AND they just celebrated their 7th anniversary (Pentagon Forever!!). Man, this industry!

Wanna One was a big group back then, I remember at awards (MAMA if i'm not mistaken) when Exo L and Army was fight for their idol to win the awards but then it's Wanna One that win the awards. That's a funny moment for me cause I didn't expect even though i'm a Wannable. I remember crying so bad when I saw a clip of their last concert. Goshhh I miss them so bad, can't imagine how successful Wanna One now if they're not disband

to explain a little more about Produce 101, basically its a survival show that usually consists of 101 people fighting for their chance to debut through a bunch of different performances and challenges, then the fans vote for their favorites and the contestants with the most votes win. or at least.. thats how it should be but unfortunately these shows are usually rigged, meaning that the producers basically already chose the lineup from the start. rigging doesn’t necessarily mean that you rig someone out or in, it can also be in the form of evil editing/angel editing. still, the lineups usually end up being really good anyways but of course not everyone can be satisfied all the time. due to these rigging scandals though, X1 had to disband after only releasing their debut EP/mini album with a few months of promotion instead of their actual contract which was supposed to last for 5 years (which is a lot longer than usual survival show contracts). IZ*ONE who were also promoting at the same time as X1 were not affected in the same way by the scandal since they were already more than a year into their career at that point.
In chronological order the survival shows go: Produce 101 (created I.O.I) , Produce 101 season 2 (created WannaOne), Produce 48 (created IZ*ONE), ProduceX101 (created X1), Girls Planet 999 (created Kep1er) and lastly and most recently Boys Planet which created ZEROBASEONE.
About the contracts; usual kpop contracts last for 7 years before the group can decide if they want to renew their contracts and continue being in the group or not or if they want to leave the company. But survival show groups have much shorter contracts, more recently they have extended to 2 years and 6 (?) months i believe. But I.O.I for example, their contract only lasted for one year.
Fyi CIX's Seunghun and BX, Treasure's Junkyu, Hyunsuk, Doyoung and Yedam covered Energetic when they were a trainee (it's on youtube) :) I love love love Energetic, it's a really good song even until now.

Spring Breeze always makes me tear up. Every freaking time. Even 5 years later. This group was just MONUMENTAL in terms of fame during their run. It's an absolute shame they were on contracted time, because honestly, if they were still together today, I think they'd be the top group. I really do. I love that Minhyun went back to NU'EST and Sungwoon back to Hotshot but both those groups disbanded so....their discography is fire. I definitely recommend doing album listens for sure. There's not too many more MVs for you to react to so you could probably do just one more MV reaction. When you get to Beautiful though, I do recommend reacting to the prologue, the MV version, and the dance performance version. Favorite songs with MVs are I.P.U, Beautiful, Energetic, Wanna Be (My Baby), and Spring Breeze for me. There are way too many b-sides that I love for me to choose favorites. I think I love all but like 3 or 4. And I still enjoy those odd ones out, they're just not my favorite. Anyway I'll end this long paragraph here. I don't think I've ever gotten over their disbandment (even though I knew it was coming) so I ramble about them a lot when they come up lol.

Wanna One was HUGE when they debuted, especially in South Korea. Still talked about to this day, actually. The one you kept pointing out during Energetic is Ong Seongwu. Bad news for you (and me, who biased him), this gorgeous voice of his is not very used for singing nowdays, he focus on acting now. He's currently serving in the military and just the other day they had this festival and it was SO GOOD to listen to him sing and seeing him dance again! His debut (and only) album is amazing, title track is Gravity, please check it out!
Funny thing that I was also against watching survival shows when Produce 101 was aired, then I listened to their debut and love it, but didn't watch the mv not until 6 months later. Seongwu picked my curiosity and I went to research his name... Ended watching their reality show all night, proceed to watch PD101 and bought a flight ticket to see them in another country in a 3 week span. They are this addicting!
There's not much more mvs for you to react tho: Burn it Up (released alongside with Energetic), Beautiful (their 1st comeback, I suggest to watch the movie ver. after watching the prologue film and then the performance ver. too) and I.P.U (I Promise U, pre release from the Boomerang album). I hope you check, even if it's on your own time, some of their reality show (Wanna One GO: Zero Base is the best idol reality ever). Also, I recommend checking the other members music (Sungwoon, Jihoon and Jaehwan are my favorites).

What got me into this group was the fandom. I was so amazed by how passionate they were for a short temporary group. I fell in love and honestly I still cry sometimes because I miss them all together like this. I hate and love stanning produce groups, I knew the heartbreak would kill me but I did it again and again (don't get me started on IZ*One, I'm still recovering).

they were my first kpop group EVER and this video came across my feeds so i was like "ok, let's have some flashback". i thought i was gonna be fine since many years have passed but no, i cried so hard as soon as spring breeze started to play. it's just crazy how much impact they had on me (and everyone atp) with only 1.5 years group activities.

I got into Wanna One a bit before they had to disband and omg their disbandment was heart wrenching, hurt alot more seeing the like disbandment concert(?) they did. They were an amazing group and I miss them BUT I actually believe they shine more in their new groups or where they are at rn. Unfortunately I feel like alot of Wannables didn't actually follow them after disbandment bc Wanna One was huge yet after disbandment some of them I don't see fans of any more.

Hui was one of the producers of Energetic alongside with Wooseok. They're both members of the group PENTAGON (Cube Ent.). It will be fun if you try to discover their discographies, you will not be disappointed. Their songs are a gem, and they are a self-produced group full of talented people (producer, choreographer, comedian, mwo~ name it all). I will wait for this moment.
'Burn It Up' came out together with Energetic, too. 'Beautiful' was my all time favorite.

been supporting bae jinyoung since produce101 so i was glad to see you liking him! wanna one is the most successful rookie group thats ever existed, they paved the way basically for streaming culture bcs they set the bar too high. first debut mv in kpop to reach 100 million views, they won 101 awards in just one year (against exo and bts on major award shows such as mama, mga, golden disk award etc), first kpop group to sell 1 million album copies with their debut album, all kill on all music charts with energetic etc…
they had discussions about extending their contract but one of the members dropped out, so all 11 boys ganged up together and chose to disband because they said they’re 11 or no one. they have the most beautiful friendship I’ve ever seen in kpop and they even reunited during 2021 mama because of it. They performed a brand new song there, called beautiful part 3! i think you would love it because it was a beautiful gift for the fans who’s been supporting these 11 boys since 7 years back!!
The produce series is the one which provided us with I.O.I (that featured Somi and Chung Ha among others), Wanna One, IZ*ONE and X1, all of them are legendary, but for me Wanna One was the best of them, and yes they had an expiration date which indeed was december 2018, some of them already were in groups and their companies pressured for their return, it was sad, but they've made a comeback during MAMA 2021, the only songs missing are I.P.U (I Promise You), Beautiful (that has a story version as well, super recommend it), and Burn it Up (was released alongside Energetic)
And i would ABSOLUTELY recommend Ha Sungwoon (Jimin's alike), i'd suggest Electrified, Get Ready, Forbidden Island and Strawberry Gum

As someone who was a new kpop fan in 2017, this group is so close to my heart. I still remember when Wanna One debuted. I remember thinking it was so cool how one of the members and I have the exact same birthday, down to the year. Memories !

i miss this era so much. wanna one shot to fame and were bts/exo level even though the group was brand new and temporary. really wish they had renewed them somehow but i know they couldn't. they made great songs too. spring breez was sOOO sad and the way they made them say bye at their last concert was so painful lol. and i feel you about getting into groups late! if it helps the time FLEW by so quick.. i regret being a casual fan for most of it. by the time i got super into them it was time to say bye 🥲

I can appreciate them in retrospect. I didn't watch the show when it aired and just mildly paid attention to their releases since I didn't want to get attached to a project group at the time knowing they will end. As a Nu'est fan I just checked in on Minhyun. Now after their disbandment I have gotten into some of the other members. The first two seasons of Produce had shorter contracts than what IZ*ONE and X1 got and then what Girls Planet/Boys Planet get since that's just Produce rebranded name after the scandal.

became one of the dearest group for me!! bc i know some of the members and watched pd101 since the first ep, 2017 was also prime year for me as a fan as i'm not as occupied as i am now with studies. when they did their last concert i was a graduating student, i literally was at my lowest w all the things happening personally, at school and then i just had to sit back and watch their disbandment unfold.
years later, i'm still here watching all their solo careers, waiting amd holding on for wanna one possible reunion updates.
i was never caught up with the members or knew much about them, i was a quite casual listener but i ALWAYS loved their music, and even when they disbanded i felt a little sad. i really recommend burn it up, beautiful, and ipu!! they're my favorite songs
Well Daniel is always starting the song since he won the show and is the 1st place voted by all of korean and international fans,he is centre of the group and got the killing parts for the songs
