Love your reviews. Being on lockdown we’ve only been able to stream using Netflix so disappointed in the sound especially atmos Is there a better way or streaming service to get better sound?

Any chance you would be willing to do a review between the digital providers? iTunes, vudu, movies anywhere. All of the big ones use different forms of compression. It would be great to see a side by side comparison of movies this way. I'm curious how different the videos look and don't have the setup to do it myself.
Also, please review the newly released 4k HDR versions of the star wars movies. That would be awesome to see.

You've got to have some grain gives it that cherry 🍒 on the cake that cinematic feel I love it as long as its not overly done. 😎👍Going to watch it tonight via my Ext HDD digital download.
Great audio and video review I purchased the movie and thought there was something wrong with my projector because there was so much picture noise it ruined the experience of watching the movie at times but coming to this review was reassurance the film is very grainy as standard.
Thanks for comparing all the formats, Shane! I have not played my disc yet, but I was disheartened to hear you say that it does not include the Dolby Vision HDR. So, are you saying that the normal HDR of the physical media still looks better than the Dolby Vision HDR of the stream?
Yeah this will look good on my 4K Sony xbr55x900e all settings jacked. Shane keep busting it man. Spare Change and Brass Tax the best all things 4K. Period.

Why is it that every time I watch a movie on a streaming service the hdr stuff that is light sources don’t have that pop that watching the same films on disc? Is it the lower data being streamed?

Damn, my prediction score was off a bit lol. I pre ordered the 3d version since I have the others in 3d as well and only saw it in atmos theater at the movies. Wanna see how the 3d stacks up. It’s out next month apparently
I’m a StarWars OG fan, bought the Best Buy $270 special edition 4K set. This is the best way to watch the franchise however I’m a grain hater PERIOD😡! and these disks do have grain in them but it is what it is..don’t have a choice...wish they looked digitally cleared and clean from grain like “1917” but whatever man it’s Disney. Anyway, love my set regardless..StarWars Forever!!!

Not sure if you are aware but the last jedi is getting a rerelease and now no longer will have Dolby vision I heard that it may be a new transfer are you going to review and compare it?

I am really eager to see a full 4K and soundtrack restauration of the peace master "Lawrence of Arabia". I hope they will go as deep in term of quality, as for the 4K version of the original "Blade runner". This movie deserve both a great picture and Atmos soundtrack.

NO special features on either 4k or blu-ray from Disney Movie Club. Digital code apparently not valid till 3/31. I was really looking forward to the documentary. It appears to be included with the digital copy on VUDU.

@@amirulasyraf1409 No they were cheap way before Disney +, Sony , Universal , Paramount , have been shooting there movies in 4k for years , Disney has none of there movies on a 100gig disc , 66gig there movies are all on, All the other studios have a variety of 100gig disc , 100 gig disc cost more , there cheap.
Scott Tilden They already spent the money for DV on the digital stream, it makes no sense not to reuse it for the disc.
In your home theater what speaker cables do you use?
A 9.5 for Video and a soild 9.5 for audio too....its my prediction :)

Apparently, the 4K disc of The Last Jedi included on the Skywalker Saga box set is a reissue of the film. It no longer has on disc Dolby Vision but the HDR10 has Metadata now. Idk, I read a review of it, and supposedly it's a lot better now. I hope you end up reviewing all the physical releases for star wars when they come out!
Hey, are you saying the reissue is supposed to look better in HDR10 than the OG 4k disc? I just picked it up the other day, and it was not the reissue version. Just wondering if I'm missing out. I don't have DV, so it's removal doesn't affect me. Just more interested in if the HDR10 is improved on the updated disc.

Popped the 4K disc on last night and was very disappointed. Very much a dull image all around which is strange as the menus are really vibrant. Audio is also really quiet with a barely perceptible rear and Atmos soundstage without turning up 20% higher than normal. I compared to the Disney Plus 4K stream and was surprised it sounded and looked better. It lost a bit of sharpness but the image was way more punchy and bright.

I was actually disappointed with some of the black levels in the star field sequences. I didn’t see a lot of pop at all and found it quit drab and dim in spots.

But for such a film only 3d for me and companies cannot decide on our behalf that we have to watch 4k only. Me definitely not buying this disc unless there is a 3d release later.

I wonder why filmmakers think the grain effect is good , watching movies on a phone , tablet or laptop you don't even see the grain , but on an OLED tv the grain effect is highly pronounced and annoying , I bought a Sony 950G 65 inch which has the X1 Ultimate Processor and I feel it handles the grain effect spectacularly on 4k HDR movies... But I wish they got rid of it completely for the 4k transfer...

Pretty average film, quite muddled and silly but oddly, rather satisfying. The series seems hollow to me though, like it’s missing it’s heart. We miss you George
Part 8 and 9 are trash just like Phantom Menace.
Back in the early 80s documentary features had George Lucas stating that the earlier and later films are not going to have as much good stuff as the middle movies, which is why Ep IV thru VI were made first--this ended up being true :). The prequels were too much setup for the middle movies, while the later films esp EP VII was too much of a poor copy of the middle movies. However the last 2 movies did take the risk at trying a few new things, but not as good without more involvement in the story from the heart and soul of the original cast (Mark, Carry and Harrison--eg. all of them in the same scene together). Maybe if they made these sequels in the mid 1990s or mid 2000s directly after the Prequels the original cast would have been better & more involved with the story and better writing directly from George. This was still an ok ending-not as many wasteful scenes as EP VII, and visual effects and action of later 2 movies were good enough--not as special as the earlier movies.

You should probably disregard any review that gives this a 1/10 or a 10/10. It is not a terrible movie, nor is it legendary. For the average movie-goer I suspect it will fall somewhere between 6/10-8/10. Highly enjoyable in terms of visuals and plot twists, but not enough to stick around with you for years to come like the original trilogy. 4kmovies co

The trailer was awesome, the movie was mostly disappointing. Who bothers getting this on Bluray anyway? Watch the HDR-x trailer and you are good.
So I picked up the 4K disc and I must say it was just a tab bit underwhelming. The grain is there and with my noise reduction on medium some scenes smeared a bit. The final battle distance objects wizzing by smeared. That should have been the best scene especially with the bolt of lighting by I'm not going to spoil it for ya. The standout scene for me the desert chase up through Rays lighting bolt. The bass was hitting hard, colors popping, and good overheads.Visuals 7.8, audio 8.5, the movie itself 7.5 as it had good action but horrendous story/plot.
We are all "grain haters" however you tolerate it. Unless you master these disc yourself. Its amazing that Hollywood is so cheap they won't master the audio in 96khz-24bit regardless if its in Atoms or DTS X. The people that master the audio soundtracks for most movies, are very consevative. Movie soundtracks should not be inferior to "Bluray audio" or even DVD audio. Which are both audio only formats. Some have still pictures and lyrics of the songs on the screen. At the theater your trully hearing(most of the time) 96klz 24 bit. Not 44klz which is really only cd quality. All blurays and 4k blurays are all cd quality in actuality. Hollywood could deliver the best. They just don't want too. Unless people start complaining about all 4k disc should be 96klz 24 bit audio!!!! Correction all current 4k blurays are 48klz. Which is cd quality. Which is great! However it could TWICE as good at 96klz 24 bit which has no compression. Pure "loss-less" uncompressed digital audio.
