I have no doubts about the truth of this. I’m from the same town as Melvin and Maceo (and the same general vicinity of several Ex-JB musicians). Everybody that played with him attested to The Godfather’s domineering presence, often talking to grown men like they were boys…or women. Everybody didn’t put up with it and some had short tenures with him. JB only understood or responded to force.
This guy overall was the best drummer James brown ever had period.no disrespect to Jason and clyde,Clyde, Melvin was the guy.i don't blame him for letting brown know he meant business,Gene Chandler corrobbetates the fact that brown beat Tami terrell back stage like a slave
