If your core can’t handle what you press it’s probably because you skip leg day, this ironically enough makes front squats a good standing press/ push press accessory especially off high pins. mario is a dummy but he says something I can agree with sometimes

    For all you scrolling: all of Mario and Martin’s advice works if you’re a novice to maybe early intermediate lifter. The movements they do work really well if you’re benching around 225-275 and deadlifting mid 3 plates because there’s just not enough muscle and strength for fatigue to ACTUALLY accumulate and that’s why standing OHP and squat, bench and dead each at least once or twice a week work for them. However, as you get bigger and stronger as a natural, because you’re lifting heavy weight, your core and stabilizers will be inevitably sore and fatigued to where it will noticeably affect your other days. If you’re just starting out, maybe a year or two or less to lifting, it would possibly be a great idea to do these “functional” exercises as long as you have good form and aren’t being injured. If you’ve been lifting for 3.5+ years and are still able to OHP, squat, bench and deadlift once a week and work out 6 days a week, you’re either not natural or are lifting too light.

    • @KireyMagauya
      @KireyMagauya Рік тому

      Yeah, at that point recovery becomes probably twice as important as the training itself. But the simple solution would probably to do 4-5 workouts sessions per week and to make a 2 week split instead of a one week split.

    Bodybuilders who wears a belt on each and every single exercise doesn’t have weak ass cores they actually have decent core development bc they don’t know shit how a belt works or how to brace they just wear it bc it looks good or to show off that they own a belt.
    A belt is a tool used for HEAVY (1 rep maxes) sets to increase intra abdominal pressure to prevent the weight from collapsing your body.

    And seated helps u just focus on press not using your legs or hopping a little like some people do to get it up. It helps you with form when you're seated

      Thats why almost 3/4 of my exercises are compound lifts and I do them all fully raw with no belt. OHP and other compound exercises made my body insanely strong, explosive and functional. I used to only use machines for working out but once i switched to only doing free weights I saw insane progress in terms of physique, strength and general fitness. Hope you do the same

  • @magnoliamike

    I don't use machines just Calisthenics, freeweights and barbell exercises

  • @stefankeeney8462
    @stefankeeney8462 3 місяці тому

    The whole thing is this: with a barbell to add 5 pounds in the form of 2.5s on each side you are able to implement progressive overload much more efficiently because let’s say you can do 100 pounds for 5 reps, by adding 5 you have only effectively added 5% which is a reasonable amount of weight your body can adapt to.
    Secondly standing being a limiting factor for the movement is a dumb argument because I’d argue that the standing version is more of a compound movement so although you do less weight overall vs sitting, you proportionately are doing more because theirs no locked in position and leg drive from the floor vs if you were sitting with dumbells or barbell. Also there is a certain focus on the front delt that the standing OHP gives that is hard to work on otherwise, and to keep the elbows up and not break posture literally works your back the same way that unracking a front squat does.

      Also my friend, I notice in your clip your chest is leaned back ever so slightly which means your almost doing a bit of a modified incline press standing . Try to keep your head and chest more parallel to the floor and when the bar path goes past your face lock it out as the top above your head but slightly back so that the bag is essentially behind you not infront of you. You’ll get better quality reps, and it’ll avoid the risk of injury
