One of very few beers that doesn’t have that bite you get from low quality beer. This is pleasant from beginning to end. Nothing to complain about at all. I’m very surprised

You guys did this beer a solid. Great unbiased review. If you can find it, try the Bohemia Pilsner. I am blessed I can find it in San Diego. I am yet to find a food it does not pair well with.

I really like Modelo Dark ! Back around 1981-1984 Lowenbrau, both light and dark was a great beer. At the time it was priced about the same as Budweiser, and to me was much better. Now in 2018 same area as I was in in the early eighties, I never see Lowenbrau. It looks as though it is still being made, wonder why it has disappeared from my area ? I would go as far to say that Lowenbrau as it was in the early 1980"s was as good as a lot of the so called craft beers of today ! Any one still drinking Lowenbrau in 2018 ? If so, how is it, how would it compare to today's craft beers ? Thanks
I remember those two Lowenbrau offerings, back them, contract-brewed, by Miller. There is still Lowenbrau, but it depends upon where it is being imported.
I really like the flavor of Modelo over other similar lagers (although Miller High Life is king in my book). It's a tad pricey around here, but I still pick up 3 packs of the 24 oz cans on occasion. Cheers to you both!
In the late 70's early 80's I drank my fair share of Pearl and Lone Star working construction along the Texas coast. At the time it was what it was, good cheap beer. Now IMO it's just cheap beer. Cheers gentlemen.
I believe what your are noticing, in regards to your comment about how you feel Mexican beers taste better. Is the YEAST Mexican Lager yeast is similar to Pac-Man Yeast.. Which basically ferments more of the sugars. Thus its well attenuated, & has a clean crisp taste. Other than that Mexican Brewers take their cue from America which is influenced by Germany. Modelo Especial is an Adjunct Pilsner Lager. I hear you guy's talking about rice in beer although you did not mention the adjunct in this one it is CORN. Mexican beers utilize corn as their adjunct ingredient. Nice Review Guy's... I Have Like Button Cheers

It's good but I don't get the premium price? $16.99 for a 12 pack of bottles. Would probably order at a restaurant but won't purchase again unless the price drops considerably.
The first letter is the month A=Jan B=Feb C=March the next 2 digits are the day of that month the 4th digit is the year as far as a bottling or canning date is concerned.
I prefer Corona but this definitely tastes higher quality. Modelo has more of a "beer" flavor whereas Corona to me tastes like corn bread. If I had to pick a beer that Modelo reminds me of it would be Budweiser.
Tastewise, to me the American lager than matches up best with this is the Michelob Original Lager. Similar to how the Amber Bock matches up with the Modelo Negra.
Seen these loss of time in my local off license in the Uk. I always thought it would be a bit crap but thought I’d try it, don’t think it’s quite a pilsner like you said but inthouhhht it was a really nice lager, not really sweet, it’s good 👍 when it’s hot and sunny I’ll be gettin a few to have in an ice bucket on the balcony
I do enjoy Modelo Especial from time to time.I also think this is better than Corona which I do like.The last time I had Modelo Especial was about 3 years ago in a 22 oz. clear bottle and it was skunked. I'll stick with cans.
Great review of this beer, i like it as well, i think i gave it a B+. I do prefer the negra modelo though but it serves a purpose as being better than the negra with spicy food.
I find Modelo Especial to be very drinkable and smooth but I don't think it has much flavor. I do like their Negro beer but it has to be fresh...seems to go stale quickly.
I think Mexican beers are nostalgic. They remind us of old western movies, of what the bad guys drank. I am not saying Mexican people are bad guys. I am just saying I would imagine Mexican bandidos drinking Victoria beer. I know this sounds ridiculous.
If you like this beer now, somehow it taste even better when you are south of the border, I was pounding big bottles of Victoria in Puebla Mexico and down there that stuff was so creamy and tasty, if you have the means and the courage, go to Mexico City. Salud
I really do believe that the Mexican ones are better than the ones intended for USA export, because I have had Mexican beers, in Mexico, herself, and it tasted much better.

Yeah, I have noticed that there is something not as good with the current Pearl, compared to those 1997 long-neck bottles.
My favourite Mexican beer. So flavourful yet not heavy on the stomach. Always keep a suit case of 24 on hand...even better on draft!

It might be because any beer imported into the US is pasteurized, which is also why euro beers dont taste as great here.
