Amazing proper mechanics.... Just casually saves his customer over a grand by putting the effort in.... Top guy. Love watching this kind of stuff, keep them coming 👍
Really enjoyed watching this video!👍👍👍 Excellent work & attention to detail. I’m an ex-Porsche technician, used to do the same fuel pump “modification” on first generation Cayenne’s, happy days… All the best from Athens, Greece
Great to see proper mechanics at work trying to save the customer money by repairing rather than replacing parts (fuel pump) keep up the good work lads👍
You guys are amazing. Fighting the customer’s cause - cost effectiveness and value. Would be good if your business and moral ethics are replicated everywhere. Hoping you to have a thriving business.
Great videos mate. I was a Mercedes dealer tech for some time, now have a W211 E280 and appreciate your videos and tech tips. That air hammer trick alone is gold!
Great to see Brits B/T/B and for younger generations it’s Back To Basics trace and fix make do and mend good mechanics and engineering and common sense think I’m going to like this channel refreshing change from throw away society ✊respect 🇬🇧🏴✊👍👍
The salt on the roads in the UK create havoc on cars. In Australia we don’t have that issue, the underbody of cars remains very good in well looked after cars. I own a 2016 Holden Calais , the underbody looks almost new.
Glad I found this channel, I have a 2003 CLK 55 AMG (here in USA) I got for $4,000 in great shape; best money I ever spent! The M113 is quite reliable, easy to work on, and puts a smile on my face every time I floor it. On these cars basic preventative maintenance, a good local mechanic, and being able to do some work yourself as I did the plugs, valve covers, gasket seals, etc. are important. Great video!
I bought an ‘05 CLK55 convertible. I agree, these are brilliant cars that, for some odd reason, no one cares about. By the way, for $4000 that’s well bought. I got mine for $5500.
when you use the air hammer with the socket on bolt to free it up mine have an handle on the tool so you hammer and use the handle to turn the nut ! we call it the wood picker !
@@sprautos i found this tool for the first time when i was aircraft mechanic in my early day and always keep in my tool box since then first time seeing your channel like what i see !
Well done. Good to see you rebuild the fuel pump. I have a high mileage CLK which my wife and I love. Must book it in for a engine/transmission service and thoroughly checked over to keep it running well 👍
Im thinking of my fuel pump on my boat....it was gummed up with old fuel, which had gone sticky. Wouldn't be surprised if the same thing had happened here, given that it sat for years and neither pump worked. Love the way you try and help the customer save some money. Cant imagine any main dealership entertaining that notion for a second. If i was a merc guy....and didnt live up here in Scotland...id definitely use your garage!
got an 221 s500 4matic at home country that has been sitting for 13 (yes thirteen) years and has about 20k miles. I went this summer did not even try to crank it I knew not only fuel pump shot but the petrol turned into some sort of gel. And the wiring between them was all frayed as well :) fun times. All fuel system was pretty much shot but after sorting that, manual turn, oil and all fluids changed it's back on road to mechanics for suspension and perished rubbers.
Great work on bringing the Clk back to life after 7 years, I also like the fuel pump rebuild it shows you know your stuff, only a top Mercedes mechanic would know how to get a round that issue. Your very methodical and have a genuine passion in your your work.
Recently done this fix to my 2005 CLK 3.2. The pump in the Sender unit is made by Wabco and should have a part no. on. I managed to find a new one in Lithuania for £36 including shipping. Took me about 35 minutes to swap out. So a cheap and easy fix! Car started first turn of the key!
At about 20:50 I was just finishing my bacon sandwich when I sneezed and you turned to the camera and said, "Bless you" ! My wife didn't find that remarkable but I did !
Great video - From experience, and I dont have a snap on Jack/h, with difficult bolts - heat first and then TIGHTEN [tiny bit] and THEN try slackening. Worked great on my 1982 911SC heat exchangers. Had never been off in 35 years.
You came up as a suggestion on my UA-cam as I’ve just bought a cl63 6.2. Can’t believe a mechanic like you is about in 2024 mate, top lad. You’re a little drive from me but I’ll be visiting you sooner or later if I need any specialist jobs or even a service. Sick content
I have worked for mercedes. What you need to do at this mileage is flush all the systems including engine. Gearbox it’s easy to remove plate and clean as well. Also clean the tank before you install the pump and clk will fly :) good luck 🤞
What are CLKs like to work on? I'm hoping to buy a 06-09 220/320 diesel sport or a 200 convertible sport. What are you thought's? Another good video and keep up the good work.
I did a complete gearbox flush on my C32AMG. Removed the bottom hose to the cooler and ran the engine at idle until the fluid changed colour, constantly topping up at the top tube. Used over 11 litres of tranny fluid to do this. This flushes out the torque converter as well. Cheers.
Great to see you developing the young'un and great to see an independent like yourself producing high-quality work. You are probably worth the cash. Really informative and great slow video.
These really are the best 209 along with 500 so well balanced with the V8 a cracking distance car highly underrated with its bomb proof M113 engine lovely things.
Great job lads, i like geuine mechanica who know what they doing and plus they think about saving customer money, thats what all mechanics and anyone in any industry should do, as long as its qulity work and relible with efficiency.
Yes! What a car, such low mileage. I really want one now haha. Fingers crossed that gearbox is alright and I will be looking forward to part 2 whenever it arrives. Enjoy your time off
You mastered this! :D My fuel filter(Mahle), MAF Sensor and Tube(Bosch), the two seals that go to Intake Air Box and Intake Manifold, and my "Dipstick" just came in today and I can't wait to see how she does without the p0172 and p0175(Bank 1 and 2 too rich) codes finally! Living in the middle of nowhere makes getting parts a bit of a waiting game but this car deserves the much needed attention after being repo'd and passed off from dealer to auction house to dealer to dealer and someone has not been kind to her... turns out, the headlight washer pump caught fire at some point because the cover is missing and water/dirt/grime got all over it and the random car dealer/or auction house must've just put the fire out and left it. It melted the whole reservoir and wires although shockingly, the windshield washer fluid pump that sits right beside the headlight washer pump is weak and was overheated it looks like but still works! That's the worst of this incredible machine mechanically though! For 181k MILES, this 2005 CLK 55 AMG Avantgarde still drives like new and doesn't miss a beat. I'm actually having trouble finding a more perfect car for the someone who lives alone or doesn't need the extra seating/weight. Reliable, Dependable, Durable, Fast, Looks great, Handles great, Luxurious, Comfortable, etc, you could go on and on... It's a shame how rare these are, I recommend you get yours now while they are still cheap. These CLK AMG's are going to skyrocket in value eventually, they have everything one could ask for. It's like a bigger, more luxurious Miata with a V8 and a back seat!
Found you guys watching Highpeak’s channel. I live in Essex, wish I lived closer to you, would have use you to work on my current CLK. Very impressed with your work…
I love this. I bought an ‘05 CLK55 convertible for 5500 USD that had some oil leaks and needed a rod replaced for the convertible top. I love the car. I think the CLK55 is such an underrated AMG.
Loved my CLK, miss it every day. Some of the Merc OEM parts prices are ridiculous, great to see a cost efdective solution for this, this is proper mechanics, just not glorified swap outs.
My SL320 was off the road from 2014 to 2022 and had a real overhaul. Including new fuel tank, alternator, plugs, gearbox service etc etc, she’s running better than when I bought her
Great vid which I have enjoyed watching. I came to this straight from the CL500 vid. I have always loved the look of the CLs but always considered them too complicated. However, I do have a 2002 CLK320, which has just clicked over into the 64K miles. It is about as modern and complicated as I want to go. I call it my 'inter city' car and these days rarely do more than 1500 miles in it. Every year when It comes out of winter storage I always have the oil and filter changed and always have something else done at the same time. During my 5 yrs of ownership I've had the spark plugs changed, aux drive belt, brake fluid, coolant changed, and the gear box fluid & filter done at least twice. Going back through it's MOT history, the only things it has ever failed on have been lamps and tyres. Latest MOT was a pass but a couple of advisories I'll be having looked at. Roll bar linkage pins or bushes. I sometimes wish that I had looked a little harder for a 500, but I'm happy with this one. My 'other' car is a slightly different kettle of fish. A 1973 Citroen SM, fitted with a Merak SS 3l engine, recently imported form Sweden.
AS a CLK 55 owner and fan I found your video really interesting and informative, well done. Certainly makes people wish to contact you to deal with their car as you seem to know what you are talking about.
Just found your channel, I am a big Merc enthusiast, and it is nice to see a professional at work. Keep the vids coming. would especially like to see anything on the M276.
I don't know how i missed this one. Great fix on the fuel pump. A real mechanic actually fixing things instead of bolting new parts on. I was hoping to see how you checked the gearbox level as i have this transmission in my jeep. Mine takes ATF+4 though. Must be interchangeable with the Mercedes spec stuff.
What a brilliant video, very informative, and well impressed you are saving the customer money, very rare these days, you obviously know mercs inside out,can see why mmatt use's you ,you deserve to do well in your business.
Great video and very interesting. The old adage 'use it or lose it' is very true here. I was very surprised to see the amount of rust in the under body area. Makes you wonder whether the car was stored outside or under cover?

The true mechanic, fixing things instead of replacing them, no wonder Matt uses you. 👍 Great work. Thanks for the videos
Thanks 👍
I agree with phil :)
20 year old Mercedes, replacing is better
Any idea with w202 petrol tank units..? Will these pumps fit ??

A methodical approach...something you will not find at your local MB dealer...Welldone
Very true
Mechanic in my local MB Dealer diddn't even now how to properly change Gearbox Fluid.
