      If you soak them in buttermilk it takes out the gamey taste and makes the meat more tender. You can make buttermilk by getting milk preferably whole milk, and adding either lemon juice or vinegar. Soak them for a couple of hours at least. The good part about it is even a BB gun will drop them... And before you say that's disgusting, I made some chicken alfredo with squirrel meat and about 13 people ate it and came back for seconds... They thought it was chicken...

      I did the same as the comment above. Used a fine mesh garden netting to keep the squirrels out. Kept it on once planted and through winter. Took the netting off once spring came and the squirrels haven’t touched them.

    Been growing garlic in MI for years. Started with a few Music, Elephant and some random stuff from the grocery store. Now I have hundreds and have to give them away every year. Never bothered to specifically apply fertilizer to them as they've never shown any signs of needing it. I do put some compost in all of my garden which I'm sure helps.

    • @TheRipeTomatoFarms
      @TheRipeTomatoFarms  4 місяці тому +2

      Yeah, heavy rains are tough. With the mulch and lots of organic content, the soil will be able to grab onto nutrients regardless. I'm just above you in Victoria, BC. Its harder for container garlic, but for beds, with a thick mulch layer, they nutrients don't get washed out too too fast.

There are several ways to preserve it, and friends and relatives who enjoy sharing. I find it very easy to grow with litte effort.
