During the traffic stop, the officer observed what he believed to be clues of possible intoxication and asked the driver to exit the vehicle for a field sobriety test, which the driver refused. While the officer allowed the driver to search for his insurance card, he placed a tire deflation device in front of one of the vehicle's tires. Shortly thereafter, the driver fled the traffic stop. The officer activated his emergency lights and siren and pursued the suspect. As the pursuing officer arrived on scene and attempted to approach the vehicle, the driver fired the weapon towards the officer. Police returned fire and the driver was struck by gunfire and taken into custody. He was then transported to an area hospital for life-saving treatment. On Thursday, October 31, 2024, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office issued charges on suspect, Je’von Henderson, 30 years of age, for Assault First Degree Special Victim, Armed Criminal Action, and Resisting Arrest. Detectives located a 9mm semi-automatic pistol and an AR15 style pistol in the vehicle driven by Henderson. Two fired 9mm casings were located inside Henderson's vehicle. In total 87 shots were fired by law enforcement.

Yeah that was smooth as fuck. One recently on here featured an officer knifing a back tire right as the suspect took off. That was pretty slick as well.
I've seen it done twice before on stopped vehicles with great success and a positive outcome avoiding dangerous and crazy high speed chases. I can't for the life of me understand why this isn't standard procedure. The vast majority of attempted spike manoeuvrers on chases once in progress fail because the subject of the chase too often manages to avoid the spiles. Not only that, Ive seen the police hit the spikes on occasion as well as innocent, unsuspecting motorists that got nailed. Even once once saw an 18 wheeler get all of the tires flattened on his rig.
Once one of these good boys starts feigning apology you know something about to go down. Or when they put on their proper voice and say "sir" a lot. Stop being tricked.

He had an adrenaline dump going. Watch his hands. They're shaking. He stuck to his training and worked through it well, but that was not a "calm" man. (to be clear, he gets a gold star for doing a good job under stress)
Remaining calm throughout the video allowed him to think clearly. Set up the spike, relayed precise locations to the dispatcher so backup would be at the scene, and even helped one officer out by handing the rifle to him. Absolute legend
@@HowlingFantodsagree, I was checking the comments to see if anyone else noticed the shaky hands and breathing. I mean it makes sense considering how this one ended!
He seemed extremely nervous and/or hyped on adrenaline, hands shaking and voice quivering. As if on the verge of a panic attack. He held it together though. Bet it took him 2 hours or more to come down after all that.
Amazing job officer! True professional and sound tactics. Definitely a DUI specialist to even correct himself when saying, “I smell alcohol” to “I smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage” (there is a legal difference and this officer knew it). The placement of the spikes in anticipation (perfect tactics). Maintaining calm on the radio and giving proper updates. (Excellent dispatcher as well, asking for an update, remaining calm , and not talking too much!). Then to transition from pistol to rifle that was in the trunk (excellent!). The communication between the officers, whereas the one said he was on his last mag and the other (primary) gave him one of his because he had access to his rifle. Absolutely amazing and these officers definitely paid attention in Officer survival training. Communication in a firefight isn’t always done and to see it and work together to resolve the situation is priceless.
He survived all that bullet-storm ? Amazing, if it's not your day to die, you will definitely not gonna die....God is Merciful and He granted this man time to repent!!
Thats becoming a pretty popular training procedure that a lot of the trainers are adding to there mind set. It works really well if you have one officer keeping the driver occupied while the 2nd officer places the strips. We've seen it done on both sides of the rear axle. And if you have the ability, Do it on the front also. Its a lot harder to drive at high speeds with no front tires.
@@IFBBJacked I've seen it done a couple of times just recently so it might be something new. Both those times the perp never took off so they were never necessary.
@joeheid2776 definitely needs to become a common practice when approaching a vehicle on a traffic stop. No reason for a vehicle to be pulling away from a traffic stop until after the conclusion of it anyway, so when an officer is approaching the vehicle initially, he should be able to put them right under the tires in case the person behind the wheel happens to be an id*ot who has criminal intentions.
There is no right to remain silent when asked questions in regard to the reason the stop was made. That right begins after you have been arrested and told the reason for the arrest. At that point, the police officer will read you your rights, and you can then choose to answer questions or not answer questions.
You always have the right to remain silent. You can be silent and wait until your lawyer is present if you want to. One google search is all it would have taken. You can’t be arrested for not answering. The cop can, however, detain you under reasonable suspicion (in this case, driving under the influence of alcohol.)
I think the drivers only obligation is to provide a drivers license, an insurance card, and the ownership to the vehicle - beyond that you do not have to answer questions
FYI Your constitutional rights don't magically get enabled once a cop tells you about them. You always have the right to not answer questions other than to identify yourself. All you're required to do during a traffic stop is identify yourself, provide your driver's license, registration and insurance, sign a ticket and comply with lawful orders (ie, step out of the car, be placed in handcuffs without resistance.) You don't have to answer questions about where you're coming from, where you're going, why you think you were stopped, because the police cannot compel you into providing evidence that incriminates yourself. It's like the whole point of the fifth amendment. It would make the DA's job much easier if cops could pull you over and require you to say why you *think* you were stopped. That's an admission of guilt which can be used as evidence to incriminate you.
I was getting that feeling that hed flee...not sure why or how to explain.... Maybe in the way he seemed he was stalling . Super smooth move on the cops behalf, but just in time. I kind of wish now that was something that the officer could always carry on them. On their belt. Always have it to be ready...
They get paid well and have incredible benefits, it isn't even within the top 20 most dangerous jobs. Pay delivery drivers more, pay construction workers more, pay roofers more, pay loggers more.
That spikey thing the cop threw behind the tire may have saved lives that day. I was almost hit by a driver fleeing from police in this very area once. I had my two kids in the car. Definitely support these technological advances!!!
Dude, I just graduated. The Academy have my first day tomorrow and you did everything. Perfect, you are literally everything. A police officer should be great job!
Seemed twitchy like he was on something. Could have just been nervous I guess? But he felt off right away. Eyes kinda glazed maybe? I’m not used to seeing that much shine from peoples eyes.
Nervous af, his mouth is trying to do one thing his brain is trying to use the other remaining brain cell to figure out how to get out of the situation.
After the suspect fled, cut to the end of the chase at 10:00 minutes. No mention was made of the outcome either on the screen or in the audio, but according to the description, the suspect fired two rounds at the officers, who fired 87 rounds, AND THE SUSPECT SURVIVED! That must be some kind of a record breaker!

Such a calm officer while he driving, no panic in his voice
Training, training, training. So they stay calm without having to think about it. That’s what a cop means when he or she says the training kicked in.
This is St Louis, unfortunately, all the cops deal with this on the daily…
He had an adrenaline dump going. Watch his hands. They're shaking.
He stuck to his training and worked through it well, but that was not a "calm" man.

LITERALLY DISCRIBING THEIR BEAUTIFUL CULTURE MUST BE THAT BEAUTIFUL DREAM DR KONG WAS SAYING
Tis the American way.
...."sober as a bird....like ready to go to church"...The officer really knows what humor means even in tough situations!
That dispatcher was a rock star, the cop was amazing thinking to put out the spike mat, and so calm throughout. Great job all the way around.
Remaining calm throughout the video allowed him to think clearly. Set up the spike, relayed precise locations to the dispatcher so backup would be at the scene, and even helped one officer out by handing the rifle to him. Absolute legend
Look at his bracelet, that police officer is a Marine. Straight bad ass, staying calm the whole time, thinking with a cool and calm head.
I think he was nervous during the pursuit, all hoped up on adrenaline but he handled it really well.
As you apparently well know, alcohol does not have any odor. An alcoholic beverage has an odor.
@@gw3598 the alcohol i use for cleaning definitely has a smell to it but ok

How to make yourself look guilty 101
First time I have ever seen a law enforcement officer place a spike strip device down preemptively like that. That is pretty awesome!
Should ALWAYS be done on a "routine" traffic stop.
This officer seemed very switched on
@@IFBBJacked I've seen it done a couple of times just recently so it might be something new.
Dude forgot he had the right to remain silent
There is no right to remain silent when asked questions in regard to the reason the stop was made. That right begins after you have been arrested and told the reason for the arrest. At that point, the police officer will read you your rights, and you can then choose to answer questions or not answer questions.
You always have the right to remain silent. You can be silent and wait until your lawyer is present if you want to. One google search is all it would have taken. You can’t be arrested for not answering. The cop can, however, detain you under reasonable suspicion (in this case, driving under the influence of alcohol.)
@@grayaz7130 Wouldn't not answering be seen as obstruction? Which is certainly an arrestable offense.
When they say HONESTLY I'M NOT LYING, THAT'S WHEN YOU KNOW THEY'RE LYING 😅😂
