The only time I’ve seen Uncle Jesse get lied to was during the 18th episode of season 5 where Jesse loses his sight during a robbery and Coy, Vance and Daisy lie to him about going to help Mr. Reubottom because of how prideful Uncle Jesse is about running from trouble.
Growing up in the 70s and 80 this show was a huge part of my childhood. Loved the show and the theme song as well. First concert I ever saw was in February of 1980 My dad took me to see waylon in dothan Alabama. He was a waylon fan and we all watched the show on Friday nights. I didn't know who waylon was as a 7 year old at the time just knew he sang that song. Watching it now Can tell the first few episodes were geared more towards adults or had more of an adult theme to them. More riske they would say. It came on at 9pm on Friday nights and turned to more of a family friendly show as it went on. Later I learned it was created loosely on the the movie moonrunners. That movie had waylon as the balladeer, an uncle Jesse, the boars nest and was about moonshiners. Also some of smokey and the bandit was incorporated into it. Even heard bo and luke talk about bandit in an episode. What would the bandit do in this situation they said? Mostly The driving and cb. They wanted a blonde to play Daisy. Originally Daisy was going to be played by Dennis Quaid's girlfriend. Dennis had the part of one of the Duke boys but would only do it if his wife could play daisy and that all fell apart. Some didn't want bach as daisy. Said she was too sultry. Also in order for her to wear those daisy dukes she had to wear panty hose. The car was going to be a chevy, forget the actual make, wasn't a camaro, maybe a chevelle? but it was too expensive so they went with the dodge and each car had a 1500 budget at the time. Several cast members quit the show over time. James Best early on over contract dispute and dressing room issues. Said they would hose him off between scenes when he would always get dirty, falling into mud and clay and would use a water hose to hise him down. That and his dressing room was basically 2 old crates that would be drug around. On the show they said he went back to the academy for training when that was happening. Also Bo and Luke over a contract dispute and merchandise money. Sold lots of duke stuff, t shirts, lunch boxes, toys and wanted part of the money for that. In the show they went off to race in the nascar circuit and the other 2 cousins came in until they got it worked out. Also cooter had a dispute, can't remember all the details but his beard was one of them. When he came bacclean-shavenshaven. That show was great. All of us kids acted out the characters and our bicycles then go-carts were the general lee. Older kids who had cars and could drive had those Dixie horns. Sad it's taken off tv over the paint job or flag painted on the car. Nothing racist about the show. Was funny and entertaining. That same era had all in the family, the Jeffersons and Sanford and sons which had way worse language and dialect yet are all still on air. All of those shows were funny to us and a high part of our childhoods growing up.
Need to make another show like this. I grew up on Duke's of hazzard

Awesome shows
The thumbnail though - good lord.
I have EXTREMELY fond memories of watching this show with my dad... I now have all the seasons on dvd... I think I’m gonna watch it tonight
I do too and love it
Since Bo, Luke, Daisy, Coy, and Vance are all 1st cousins of each other, my guess is that Jesse Duke had five brothers.
Isnt it so weird how they were all big into cars and driving when all of there parents and uncle Jessies brothers were all killed in a car crash
That so beautiful love
Dam dood looks like arn anderson
It looks like this interview was done in santa barbara
