Vince had done two of the most iconic electronic albums when he was 22 years old, being Speak & spell and Upstairs at Erics. Not to take away from Martin or Alisons contributions but he was the main songwriter on those albums and probably also did much of the production as well. What an amazing talent. Ice machine, Photographic, Any second now, Only you, Two pieces, Situation to name a few is absolutely brilliant songs and the production on these albums is also fantastic and very much underrated. I'm 55 years old and still cant make even one song that would fit on either of those albums. It's so crazy to think about how an album like Speak & spell is made by a bunch of 20 year olds some 40 years ago.
As a side note you name the greatest miracle of all: Vince, Martin, and the other guys were in their early twenties when they made those monuments of synth pop. 40 years later, I'm still wondering how this was possible.
DEAR VINCE AND FAMILY WE ARE THINKING OF YOU ALL AND PARYING FOR YOU GOD BLESS YOUR TRACY SHE IS SAFE IN PEACE AND WILL GO ON IN YOUR MINDS AND HEARTS BLESS YOU ALL R. I . P. TRACY X
I was there for this great event on Sunday 19 November 2023. Truly great night. Got to meet Vince at the signing and he was so wonderful to meet. Amazingly humble and down to earth guy, yet he’s a hero to me and many others for over four decades now. I’m always astonished at how much he did at such a young age, and still doing great work now. Thank you Vince.
I've been listening to the music of Vince Clarke for 34 years. I still can't believe the success he had when he was barely out of his teens! The new album is amazing, and I listen to it daily. Like him, I've come to really appreciate ambient music as I get older.
What’s humbling is that he was very open about learning to use the modular synth rack. When actually to most laypeople, he is one of the kings of synth music! Great guy.
Loved this so much - never underestimate how fascinating the details are to us fans... It gives colour and background to the music we love - more of this please Vince and Daniel - loved it
Very interesting interview thanks for posting - didn’t know Martin Gore and him were so much strangers in 1980/81 - yes interest for ambient music comes with age : of course there’s Eno but also many other fantastic albums like Sigur Ros’ Liminal Sleep - I agree with VC : Blade Runner 2049 is even better than the 1982 movie ! Will now listen to VC new album…and one again Erasure’s Wonderland and Chorus
I followed Vince since dot. I have the same passion for Synths & a avid collector .Still a Futurist. All the best Vince. Thank you so much for your music 👍
Vince Clarke watching UA-cam synth tutorials. A lesser man would have thought that's beneath him. But the master never stops learning. This is inspiring and endearing.
A legendary Vince from DM - HELLO! ) Was glad to hear your mind and voice.. Your Speak & Spell is one of my favourites albums. It is so energetic, especially Photografic. I like experimenting with sound from my youth, thanks to you. First I created Moog like synths, then samplers, and nowadays I stick to programming and softsynths. I highly recommend you the Flowstone VST IDE.. It's a paradise for experimentators like we are. It's much more simple and intuitive that Max For Live. And also greets to Mute and Daniel ! I called my software company MuteByte in your honour, hope you don't mind)
Did Daniel mention something about Alan Wilder releasing an album next year? Sorry haven't watched the full video but someone commented this in a forum... If that's true it's huge!
How humble he is to mention things like '' learning '' - '' watching youtube tutorials '' when thinking he is a synth guru, its true that technology is developing fast and everyone has to keep up with it, but if he was an arrogant person probably he would not talk about that euro rack learning process
Just imagine being a synth geek who posts on UA-cam, maybe explaining how this great man created something and then the man himself uses your knowledge to learn something. And you would never know who was watching and taking notes 😊
I remember seeing Erasure, must have been 86/87 I guess (?) at what was then North Staffs Poly student union. It was a brilliant gig, but we were very early and Vince and Andy were just milling about - you could have gone up to talk to them if you'd wanted, not that we did. Great days.
I've commented elsewhere that I thought his new album reminded me of Edgar Froese's solo albums & definitely Vangelis. Also very much reminded me of a recent album by Zavoloka with Nata Zyzhchenko. Also regarding using old folk sounds & incorporating into electronic music, I'd say Onuka from Ukraine are currently the perfect example (Nata Zyzhchenko) - the Ukrainian equivalent of Kraftwerk.

Could not agree more! He is a legend and the nicest guy you’ll ever meet! What a treasure we have been able to be a part of all these years!
@@russburton725 That's for damn sure 🍷:)

100% agree ❤
The music of Vince Clarke is pretty much responsible for who I am!
Were you conceived with Only You playing?
@@Phil-1 😂 No, I was born a few years before it was written
me too! Chorus and I Say I Say I Say are my favorite albums of all time
I dont have a lot of hero’s but Vince sure is one.
Both Daniel and Vince are looking well. So fortunate to hear this conversation!
👑💜 Vince Clarke is like a contained fireworks display that lights up my life Yazoo, Erasure, Depeche Mode and more, actual royalty

Had to go and listen to Songs of Silence at 6 mins into the interview. Absolutely brilliant. My kind of music
Great person. Everything. A pleasure to hear his music and him talking. The music of this album is just beauuutiful! ❤
Celebrating you Vince, and I see no ego at all. How refreshing. Thank you.
Loved this so much - never underestimate how fascinating the details are to us fans... It gives colour and background to the music we love - more of this please Vince and Daniel - loved it
Absolutely love this album. Play guitar mainly and recording just at home has got me into keys and synths. This is on my wavelength.

This man and his music has touched my heart and mind and ultimately my life in a way that is hard to explain. Thank you.

Vince - a genius and a legend..!!!
Thank you, Vince. Thank you, Daniel.
Such a humble genius ❤
Two legends...
Wonderful, thanks for sharing!!
I was a massive fan in the eighties of his. Aged 16 I shaved my head to look like him haha! My Mum hated it.
loved every minute of this, 2 legends on stage,
Thanks for sharing this amazing interview. Can you maybe subtitle the not understandable questions that have not been repeated by Mr. Miller? Please!
The GOAT 🩷
Please be a tour to go with the album i cannot wait to hear the album and see you guy's on stage again
I was at the mean fiddler at Harlesden 🙂 for the Erasure tour
Excellent interview, thanks very much 👍
Cheers for sharing this! 🤩

I only heard him say Andy was making an album. Wish it were true.
Couple of legendary characters from 43 years ago at the start of the UK synth pop explosion

Wow new stuff coming out from Erasure soon!!
Vince! Your new album is *amazing*!
Finally someone who talk about the new work .
I was at the Harlesden gig mentioned for Erasure
I once wrote to both of them for a job. They replied too! No job though. 😀
The new album made me think

Daniel Miller...the Godfather of electronic music

Is there a video of the visuals from the “Friday concert”?
Hold on. Vince did an album with Paul Hartnoll?! HOW AM I ONLY HEARING ABOUT THIS NOW?!?!
I think you’d Better Have a Drink to Think
True. Otherwise you could wind up Underwater.
Did Vince really sell all his old synths?
Miller spits on the working-class from his WEF tower.
Daniel keeps interrupting.
The first time he makes something he is proud of being free of trying to sell like jingle music for ads.
Does Vince eat? He looks so malnutritioned.
Please don't be silly pal
This be actual 10 years ago. 15 year ago Mute can sell it on DVD. For now this like sing of lame duck.
???
What the hell you talking about Vince is a legend as far as I'm concerned I adore him and Andy
everyone with their word salads in the comments. nobody cares.
Cheer up fuckles, you’ll get over it. Guess you read a few though eh 😂😂😂😂😂
