I mistakenly said that the Grand Canyon Conservancy operates the Lookout Studio and Hermit's Rest when in fact they are operated by Xanterra. The Conservancy does operate Verkamp's, Desert View Watchtower, Kolb Studio, the Visitor Center store and the Yavapi and Tusayan Museum locations.

Of course. I hope enjoyed and can get there yourself someday. Videos never do the scale of these places justice.

Planning to make these stops on my way to California over winter break this year. Thanks for the video man. Very informative!

The south rim is an amazing place. The videos and pictures can't truly do the vastness of it justice, but I'm glad I can help and inspire some travel ideas.

Make sure you check the weather before you go, it can snow there this time of year. They say the trails get slick when it snows.

Thank you for doing our home movie for us, LOL we were there Oct. you did a great job with your video, we did not get as good of pictures as you did. We took the train up from Williams and were only there for 3 hours. we plan to go back and stay longer the next time. your advice on here is helping us. Have a blessed Christmas and again thank you for posting this video.

Yeah there is a lot to see. It's difficult to really take it in even if you have a whole day, If you plan to see anything below the rim at all you need at least two full days to visit. Of course hiking to the river and back is different matter which took me several days (separate video)

My family and I are taking the train from Williams, staying the night at Bright Angel Lodge and taking the train back to Williams on our way to CA. I am disabled and use two canes but can only manage a couple hundred feet at a time without sitting so looking for info on what's accessible. Planning on taking a wheelchair so your video gave my a lot of insight on the rim. Needless to say I won't be climbing the Deserts View Tower so thanks for the view!

Good news is all the park busses are wheelchair accessible and it's a great way to get between lookouts along the rim. Not the fastest way probably, but it's free and convenient

Hi could I do the south rim desert drive in 6 hours?

    • @getlosttrails
      @getlosttrails  4 місяці тому +1

Cameron to Tusayan (or visa-versa) is 60 miles. You shouldn't have a problem doing that part and hitting overlooks along the way in 6 hours. If you get side-tracked or want to continue west deeper in the park you might be a little pressed for time.

    Question?
Do you think okay to drive regular 4 doors midsize car 2019 none 4 wheel drive to South Rim from Las Vegas around Middle December 2022?
My concern is snow or ice on the road it hard to drive.
What’s your thought on that thanks.

Could be hit or miss. Sorry I can't give a more definite answer. I have been to the South rim several times in the winter. Once I canceled a trip because roads were bad, but generally I have been fine, with no road condition issues. If that's all you have to drive I would say make plans, hope for the best, and check before you go www.nps.gov/grca/planyourvisit/weather-condition.htm

Thanks for the feedback. This is one of my earlier videos and I hope my narrations today are better. I also now have better audio equipment.

So monotone. Like a robot. Sorry man but for such a fascinating topic you’re hard to listen to.

You're absolutely right. This was one of my earliest videos. Unfortunately at the time if didn't have the equipment or skill to narrate it as I went so it's mostly voice-over which isn't great. If they would let me update it with a new version I absolutely would. Unfortunately that's not how UA-cam works and somehow this has become one of my most watched videos and the algorithm would likely never favor a new one.
