    Toughing it out in aviation isn't a good thing to have it's a sign of weakness not strength. Major red flag for the work culture and overall poor airmanship. Pilot condition is a major contributing factor when it comes to incidents.

    57 years ago at the age of 23 I did my first flight in a DC3.
    Coming strait off light aircraft like Dh82 Tiger Moth bi- planes & Cessnas etc with no experience of twin Engine Constant Speed Props, or Retractable gear & 10 hours night experience it was a big jump into the deep end & I was only one of 5 in our group with the same experience. ( We prayed the Capt wouldn't drop dead for the first year - after that he was fair game.) :o)
    Six years on the DC3 & 1,600 hours later I went on to all sorts up to Airbus.
    BTW Nearly all my DC3 flying was with Cyclone R1820's 9 cylinders (same power as the Pratts.)

    What I dont get is you get trained pilots comming to buffalo and then not flying for months because they have to drive parcels about the place. So their flying skills get rusty. Surely you want a current pilot to fly. I dont get their philosophy at all!!

    • @kiwidiesel
      @kiwidiesel Рік тому +5

      A Lot of the time it is to weed out the wannabes and overnighters. The cost to certify a pilot on type is significant and many over the years at nearly all places have got there ratings on the company and then promptly left to work for some one else. I have seen it alot before so places like Buffalo use ramp work as a way to teach the ground operations and then hopefully anyone still around is the real deal. Joe said it himself in one of the clips, he needs 6 months minimum from them if he is to give them a check ride.

    • @markclark-lewis2600
      @markclark-lewis2600 Рік тому

      @kiwidiesel yes that makes sense but can really understand how the rampys feel. Maybe they should be told they have at least 6months ground work or have to sign a contract that obliges them to work for at least 2yrs.

    • @kiwidiesel

      @@tabstabs1204 so, was Joe's visit to The Mayo Clinic in Arizona covered by the Canadian health care plan? Or, did he have to pay for that himself? I know that many Canadians cross the border daily and come to Detroit (and other U.S. cities) to pay for their health care out of their own pocket, due to deficiencies in coverage and treatments in Canada.
