I remember playing this game with my cousin when I was 9. He guided me through my entire journey, always at my side when I needed him. I still wish he would be at my side when i start my new character in Demon's Souls Remake. But the demons got him first.
I will always find the original Demon Soul’s superior to the remake, and not just for reasons of blind nostalgia. I do think the remake has vastly superior graphics and it really lends something great to the atmosphere. But that is pretty much where the improvements stop for me. Also, i understand that QoL and technical improvements are always much welcomed in a remake, but I am only attempting to compare the design and gameplay elements of the two games, as I think these are the two most important elements when determining how well a game matches the original design ethos and vision. I will not try to make my entire case here, but I will provide a few items from the opening cutscenes alone for a brief comparison, as I believe these opening scenes exemplify, if only in miniature, the main differences and underlying problems with the remake. My main issues with the remake revolve around its many departures from the original game’s design ethos and vision. I think the developers of the original stuck much closer to these as underlying goals and priorities. Also, we know the development team of the original weren’t trying to bring the house down with popularity and console selling appeal, while I highly suspect these were strong motivations for the developers of the remake. Below are just a few examples, from the opening cutscenes alone, which I think displays the original game’s commitment to the designer’s original ethos and vision. I think this is readily apparent when compared with the opening scenes of the remake version which seems to be trying to appeal to a much wider audience with a strong expectation of action ARPG tropes and modern gameplay features. In the opening cutscenes of the original Demon’s Souls, one will notice the slower, deliberate, and calculated movements and choices of the “player character” vs. the confident, fast, and basically reckless decision making of the player character in the remake. Another example is the slow shambling movements of the undead enemies in the original vs. the aggressive and seemingly determined behavior of the undead enemies in the remake. Also, in the original version there is only a slight and subtle emphasis on npc assistance vs. the remake where it is like a dang Avengers Assemble moment, and two of them at that. There are many more moments like these throughout the remake and one can tell these new design choices bleed into the very feel of the combat and enemy behavior throughout the entire game. As far as the remake goes, aside from the amazing graphics (I love them, especially the bosses), the remake version seems to be filled with changes aimed at making the gameplay more appealing to a wider audience, the speed of action more appealing to an action oriented ARPG generation, and the pacing of the moment to moment gameplay more appealing to a far less patient player base. All of these changes, along with many others, depart from the original developer’s dogged commitment to a much different ethos and vision-a vision built around patience, isolation, fragility, futility, extreme difficulty, and desperation-a vision which has managed to deeply influence most soulsborne games to date. Ultimately, I wish the Demon’s Souls remake would have stuck much closer to the design vision of the original.
The problem with your long winded essay is that the remake is literally a 1:1 remake. So everything you’re complaining about is nonexistent. 🤦🏾♂️ even the coding is the same so what are you complaining about?
This and King's Field is what got me into these games. King's Field was my first From Software experience and I was addicted yeaaars ago. Still own them on my ps1. I was so addicted to this game, especially that opening scene with my favorite starting class the Knight that I lost many hours of sleep as did alot of you haha.

@@benireges I find bloodborne's dlc,Midir and Gael and most of all Dark Souls's 2 dlc harder than Sekiro. No falling damage, open level design with little to no traps, reviving even twice, forgivable parries...its only hard at first but not that bad, also the firecrackers absolutely destroy the entire game.

This Remake is NOT Demon's Souls!!!! It's a Chopped up copy of Demon's Souls. I played the OG Game when it first came out in 2009 for over 1000 hours... The OG game Musical Score has been removed - None of the NPC's or Bosses are the same, just a slight resemblance, the areas are not the same, some areas seem to have a 'bright daylight Sun appearance". I do not recall NO AREA in the OG game that had bright sunshine. For the most part, all the outside areas were dreary/greyish tone. Not to mention how they TOTALLY destroyed the atmosphere of "Latria Tower"....SMH!!! Gaming has come down to GRAPHICS... Just because you have NEAR HUMAN looking Graphics does not JUSTIFY you will have a GREAT GAMIMG experience. FromSoft or whoever own's the IP Rights to the OG Demon's Souls should file a Lawsuit against BluePoint for Plagiarism - using the Title Demon's Souls when in FACT this is NOT Demon's Souls
I totally understand your feeling dude and I played OG Demon's Souls this year and I totally think the same you do, Demon's Souls remake is not Demon's Souls, look at it wherever you have to, it's more of a Dark Souls wannabe than Demon's Souls. Unfortunately for us, Demon's Souls is Sony's trademark, not fromsoft's... Sony were the ones who gave the remake project to Bluepoint Games, so, even tho we don't recognize this remake as even Demon's Souls, there's nothing we can do for that 😢
The fact that people thought this was the PS5 version two weeks prior to launch where there has always been a massive embargo on game footage for almost every game for the last decade is astonishing xD come on guys.
I'm assuming you're playing this on pc since it's in 4K, but my question is: are u using a controller or keyboard? How does the inputs work if using something other than a dualshock?
