- On Saturday 7th August 1955, accompanied by photographer Eve Arnold, Marilyn was invited to visit Bement, Illinois as the town celebrated its centenary and Marilyn was to be the focus of nationwide publicity just by showing up.

She just was so photogenic, the way her mouth sits & her teeny tiny waist !!!! Women this era no longer have that tiny waist - it’s what really accentuates her sex appeal & all her dresses were cut to show that tiny waist & female curves. She was rare beauty
Hi Katina, you are very right 👍🏾 and it seems like she still will not be Marilyn Monroe if with all her physical shape and contours she didn’t have the added poise, the way she carried herself, her mannerisms and overall Magic. Those were the attributes that made her an astonishingly ‘Stand-Out’ beautiful woman. You see there were other shapely women in her era and also now but they don’t possess the mannerisms, the cuteness and the ‘Monroe Brand of Magic’. So she’s unique and unmatched 💫🪄🌪️🔥💎👑
My parents were fans so I remember the shock when she died. I think that she was universally loved, men, women, young and old. I was nearly 13 when she died and though I don't remember where I was when I heard the news it was a tragic event in my house.
We must be the same age as I was 12 and a half when she died. The effect it had on me was similar to the assassination of JFK the following year. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing. My parents were watching the TV news when her death was announced.

Oh gee! Even old ladies liked her! Marilyn was that rarity who appealed to women as well as men, owing to her utter innocence. And why do modern movie stars dress down instead of looking their best, as Marilyn did?
There are no longer any movie stars. Some excellent actors, but no stars. At least not anything approaching the calibre of stars from the 30s thru the 50s. Or the 70s to be generous.

She had a splendorus personality. So unique. So perfect. Her face, her body, her legs, she was beautiful all over. And she had a sweet voice, an lnnocent ,yet sexy smile, very charming and classy, never vulgar. MM had a talent which was not recognized as she deserved. She could have interpret other roles.But producers were fixed on her sex appeal and did not allow her to do so. Even with that limitation, she became a fulgurant movie star. Her star still shines and will continue flashing for years to come. MM is an eternal icon , a legend, a myth. Her fans are transgenerational. And when we remember her passing, her suffering since childhood, a very long, deep sorrow makes our heart ache.. She evoques feelings of admiration and compasion . Baby, may you rest in peace in heaven. You will always be remembered.
My mum RIP said exactly that, that people like Marilyn and Elvis appealed to both sexes. She said a man could take his date to a Marilyn Monrow film but NEVER a Bridget Bardot film.

I know that whilst in Bement Monroe visited the Bryant Cottage where she gave a speech about Abraham Lincoln and looked at furniture and artefacts.
