Love the way this one turned out! We’ve used vinyl stuck to a piece of clear acrylic before to change the colour of LEDs but like the way you used that thin strip of film. The orange makes this really stand out. Fantastic job!
Wow, Cristiana! I have such admiration for your artistic vision and creative gifts, Watching you design and build the many beautiful pieces for your home has been a genuine joy that warms my heart. This light is a stunner. As always, thank you for sharing.
That is a wonderful style; you cannot be faulted for taste. I've found that flame polishing acrylic is possible with a kitchen butane torch that you were using. You need to sand the edges to 600-800 grit and then run the torch over it. There's less rough material for the torch to melt so it happens quicker without melting the edge completely. It turns glassy smooth and looks so neat. Brasso would also polish up the edge since you sanded it so well.
I love everything about this project! Now planning on making one later on as a mood light subbing out the white strip for an two rgb strips, one for the top and one for the bottom. You rock and keep having fun!
Absolutely beautiful Cris! The mash-up design aesthetic is so successful - mid-century modern meets Art Deco! I wish I had one hanging on my wall. I’d better start saving up for an xcarve!
Wow! That is beautiful! I liked your use of the gels to get your desired color on the bottom lights. Probably also cheaper to use white LEDs than RGB lights
Very cool-looking! Love the idea of using gel scraps to color the lights. Should be highly resistant to the heat and last a long time. Will have to remember that for later. I happen to have access to such things.
Wow that light fitting looks amazing, modern, and absolutely stunning, I really love your work and have been binge watching your videos. I hope you don't mind me saying, meaning No offense whatsoever, but you look so young to be so professional with the job you are doing. I think it would be very hard to find someone double your age, with the skill sets you have. You are a mighty impressive young man.
WOW! That's cool. I love the 3D cutting (routing? carving?) that the X-Carve did. I was hoping to see some of that 3D on wood too - maybe in the future? I'm sure. And thank you again for leaving the sounds of your hammer, drill, sanding, etc. !!! I LOOOOOOoooove those sounds - they're so cool! The lamp is beautiful and modern (I love modern design). It is a joy to watch and hear you work. You do such high quality work! Keep going! :-D
This was an awesome project. You can try 5v addressable LEDs which are used in the computer industry. They don't have that weird tint. You can use a standalone controller to cycle between different colours of your choice.
Really like how it turned out Cris :) the cool tiny detail that took me by surprise was the "amolador" whistle in the background. It was an instant transportation to my childhood being a kid in Portugal in the 90's :)
That is a fantastic piece! Very nice idea to have that asymmetry in the design! Can't wait for the next piece - it might as well have some introductory shots from São João in it :-)
Great project! by the way, to heat polish the edges of acrylic you need the oxygen torch welder's use (or something that creates a flame way hotter than a portable torch), I learned that after ruining a good amount of acrylic 'cause I was too stubborn to let go ;) greetings from Mexico.
Nice love it. Have the perfect wall for it only the tools are missing. Any suggestions if you can order a acryl glass design for a reasonable price in Germany?
LOVE this project Cris! Turned out sooooo good.

Thank you Sherrill, so nice to read your words! :)
Woooow !! Chris, this is the coolest lamp I've ever seen. I like how the light spreads in carved lines on acrylic glass. You are awesome!!
That came out great - it has a sort of 'mid-century-modern-death-star' look going on
Paul Jenkins Ahaha best description! Yeah, I also felt like it reminded me of death star after creating the offset design lines. Thanks Paul!
Yeah! I didn't think of that until you two pointed it out - but it does resemble the Death Star! Nice!
what about a sunset over a just plowed field from a porthole? :)
Hans Brkkenbakken - are you a photographer? If not you should, you have a good way of seeing things others don't. I like your point of view! :-D
No, I'm not a photographer, I'm only somebody who likes to joke with reality :D
Singly the most stylish maker light I have ever seen. So good. Thank you.
This is probably my favorite project you have done so far. The lighting aspect is awesome!!!

Absolutely gorgeous.

LINDO PROJETO, Cris! Ficou incrível!
Very very Beautiful! Super look

Well done Chris! It was great to begin with but the yellow gel along the bottom lights really put it over the top!!
Mais uma vez a abrir o livro 👌🙏
Excelente trabalho

That a really beautiful mood light! I think the gels are absolutely the way to go because you can easily swap them out!
That’s a BINGO! This is such a lovely piece.

I love it..it reminds me of the Duality of the white Moon & yellow Sun...Great job
Nice. I didn't think of that, but you're right - it does look kinda like that duality.
