- Most car enthusiasts would hold onto a mint E46 BMW M3 for dear life, right? Well, we chatted to Portuguese automotive engineer and writer Joana Fidalgo to find out why she’s selling hers and to talk over an eclectic collection of other cars and bikes, including her ‘forever car’: a Suzuki Cappuccino.

Finally a calm and down to earth car person who doesn't start by shouting "hey guys!!" - The calm zen of watching this... Would enjoy all and any content like this.
Imagine having a youtuber with actual car industry knowledge and education. She represents the real car people you meet at car meets. Quite understated encyclopedias with real passion.
Spot on!
Joanna is a top petrolhead, great engineer with fabulous taste in cars.. happy to know her
Joana
A Cappuccino forever car and saying that the Sera is perfect for a rainy day when you can hear the rain hit the glass roof… it’s just cool seeing other people who are the same kind of weird as you…
Good job, this was a great interview
This will save your channel, focused interviews with Women in Automobile Industry. It's something we need. So glad she has her chance to tell her story, Joana is amazing, a gem.
Brownnosing corporate diversity is one hell of a thing 😂
@@bazinga-tt9pj That or they're a woman like Joana and they enjoyed seeing themselves represented. Grow up
@@bazinga-tt9pj Diversity? It's called representation. But for some representation is the same as oppression. This channel was founded by a brown guy.
@@bazinga-tt9pj 🤣
Save the channel?… oh shit when the hell did I stop watching their views died
CT - hire this woman. She'll save your channel.
Totally agree with you
Yes
ive seen this sort of reaction before - best example being with madison on LTT
it doesnt work mate
she makes far more in her current line of work
Nothing can save this channel lol
A breath of fresh air. I could happily sit over a cuppa with this gal and chat motors for a good few hours. Good choice in motors. I’d happily entertain both of her current rides. Very different but equally engaging in their own way. Would be nice to see more content like this.
Proper gear head who knows her stuff. Respect.
The fact she started her passion from motorcycles made her 110% cool
Great taste!!! I had a red Cappuccino in the 1990s as my everyday car - it would do 250 mile motorway trips for my job, no problem. Love that you've rescued this one from the tin worm!
The way she is talking about the cappuccino very well describes my thoughts on it as well. I have a 1997 cappuccino. Like there are faster cars or ones that have better options… but NOTHING comes close the smile on my face in the cappuccino. It’s just that good to drive and throw into a corner.
She was watching Initial D... it's enough, she's in, she's one of us!
What an incredibly lovely and charming young lady. No doubt she will go great places by following her passion. Well done.
That M3 is absolute daily-driver goals, great colour, perfect wheels, MANUAL.. love it
Those are theabsolute baddest ass rims I have ever seen on a Cappucino. Can relate - I've been through a whole ton of cars but the biggest smile I ever had on my face behind the wheel was my humble red 1991 MXx5. Which was, of course, restored and tastefully modified with a bit of a 1960s vibe on custom offset gold Enkei RPF1s. Nobody ever got mad at that car, ever.
Best CT video since you F’ed it all up. I’ll remain subbed for now, more of this.
I like her passion and knowledge for cars and bikes. Shes beautiful too.
she is a female chad
Receipe for success: beautiful, knowledgable and passionate. I can watch her talk about cars all day long.
Absolutely love your attitude. It's about you first, not anyone else.
Actually the Cappucino makes a lot of sense, even with the funny roof.
I also like to feel the drive more than anything, prefering some perfect corners over too much car for the road.
Such a cool & charming lady, a credit to the enthusiast & no doubt Engineering community 👍👍
I have had multiple Skylines, mitsubishi VR4 galant, VL turbo with forged motor and more, and now have a 1996 Cappuccino and i can honestly say this is my favourite car EVER, the most enjoyable car to drive. Have doubled the power output and done a tone of interior, suspension and exterior mods and its awesome. Am yet to find someone keep up with my through the hills, im sure there are lots that can but yeah, its heaps quick in the twisties.
I challenge you with my sister's Mitsubishi Mirage. Friday Midnight at the abandoned warehouse.
As a ex cappuccino owner myself i can confirm, she has got an awesome taste!!! What a dream women
Instant crush, this girl is sooo cool!
Great interview. Loved to hear Joanna her story.
Awesome interview! Fantastic follow on X too. Saving and restoring that Cappuccino is next level love for cars.
Excellent taste, great presentation. Very interesting person. Really enjoyed watching her walk us through this.
Not going to lie, the Sera is probably the coolest of the three of Joana's cars, following by the little Suzuki. It says something when an E46 M3 is the least interesting out of a three-car garage...
Parabéns Joana!! I share the same love for E46M3 and small cars, and you share your name with my young daughter!!
I get the fascination for a car like the Suzuki Cappuccino. The Japanese car makers have had this ability to create cars that capture our hearts, even in small capacity and small foot print packages. I have a forever car and its a 1983 Daihastu Handi (L60), an Australian delivered commercial version of the L55 Daihatsu Mira. There is nothing special about the car to make it stand out in an engineering way but they way it sounds as you drive and the way it has made me feel when I'm driving, makes it a car I don't want to stop driving, owning, modifying and hot rodding.
Love Joana's passion! nice video!
Very interesting lady from my country, but clueless about the portuguese car scene apparently, I belong to several classic car clubs, do a lot of track days where "Max tunning" cars never ever get close to and that are super chill with great nice older blokes, true gentlemen drivers, there is a huge offroading scene as well for both 4x4 and bike enthusiasts and lets not forget that 800 thousand people, mostly portuguese and spanish came to watch the WRC rally of Portugal this year, I doubt we have that many Max tunning "chavs" over here... Interesting interview and would love to see her presenting more stuff tho. Wish her great luck on her endeavours.
Hey, I was specifically referring to the modified car scene. I’m from the centre of Portugal and close to the Caramulo, so I’m familiar with the classic and rally/hill climb events, but those weren’t super welcoming communities back when I was a teenage girl, nor were they super into JDM 😄 I joined my fair share 2CV events, though, which were a bit niche haha
I haven’t lived in Portugal for 14 years, so glad to hear it has improved since!
@@joanafidalgo6610 Lovely story Joana! Did you ever participate in Formula Student when you were in Oxford-Brookes? When I did Motorsport Technology in the UK, doing Formula Student was the best thing.
@@skpro_jectshi, yes, I did!
Yep,nice older blokes, true gentleman...think see does know your scene...she's a female!!!!!
Those wheels are just so right! Lovely owner, would make for a good presenter on here as others pointed out ❤
What an incredible lady, I'd love to drive my AE86 with her in the Cappuccino, that is if I ever get it running again
The story of how she bought the Cappucino and the place she was in... So encouraging to hear it.
Ive also had some cool and fun cars and thought my cappuccino was perhaps the most fun car ive owned. I often tracked my lotus exige daily driver, owned an R32 GTR at the same time, initial D garage :) and a 73 2002tii. All are fun in different ways. But the Cappo was the most fun. It even got 40mpg full throttle everyday. Fill ups were less than $20 (USD). Top down, 8000+ rpm, RWD manual, turbo noises. Took it on a 10hr trip each way to Miami. Baby S2000.
It's a tough choice - The E46 M3 is a big favourite of mine (although I've never even driven one, it just looks so right), but I have driven a Cappuccino and it was a hoot! I can see why, on modern roads, the 'baby Viper' might be the more enjoyable of the two.
Shame she has an illegally spaced plate, though...
With the only exception of the Audi, we got the same taste for cars. Got an e46 m3, consider the NSX my poster car (together with the S2000) and as a missed opportunity (kick myself for it), not so much into minis, though. My favourites forever keeper cars are my RX7s (both FC and FD) and my ultimate keeper will always be my SW20 (MR2). I also hold close to my heart my Alfas, I really think you should consider them as driving an Alfa is definitely a me moment, with so much emotion and character, with the alfa querkiness they have a nostalgic, drivercentric x factor, that no other car brand has and puts a smile on your face every time, in a sense it is as Italian as a pasta. Inital D, yeah I agree, my favourite manga of all time.
My wife is terrified of driving my turbo’d Miata and she has a pilots license for ultralights. This lovely woman needs a permanent place on the channel. So cool, composed and knowledgeable!
Being an engineer for OEMs must pay really well. Even with an average engineering salary you can't afford such an extensive car collection.
A true petrolhead.... The wheels on the Cap are perfect!!
Cappuccino, S660, Copen L880K and LA400K, Beat, they are all great cars.
I own L880K.
Really interesting interview. All the best petrolheads start with Minis. I can totally relate to getting more expensive or more refined machinery, but always going back to the small and quirky cars.
Senna was the man!
Could have traded on her looks as a model or actor, instead followed her passion and became a down to earth motorhead, to the point she's had a Manual Conversion done on the M3. This is what the world really needs, less money chasers, more Dream Chasers.
You go girl! What great taste in cars!
I firmly agree that if you're worried about reducing the value of the car simply by driving it, it's not a good car. A work of art, yes, but a useful and fun car, no.
What a great Girl you are Joanne, so ture to yourself. the world needs more people like you. Love and happens from Ireland 😎
Nice to see people liking cars for other things other than performance and cult following
Looks like a miniature '84 Corvette C4 with those wheels. Love it.
I though I noticed a Portuguese accent. Vamos grande 💪
great interview
This might just be my perfect woman ;)
"I just sat down watching Initial-D that morning ..." confirmed
I wanna see her drive an E46 M3... :( I would happily marry this girl. I love my E46 M3!
i would pick the suzuki cappuccino to drift in the Initial D arcade game
Fantastic video, really good interview with @joanafidalgo!! She lives and breathes automotive and you couldn't meet a nicer person, and I'm proud to call her a mentor and friend! Well done Joana!! 🎉🎉❤
Cappuccino is my dream kei car.
Og car throttle fans remember readers rides thanks for bringing it back
Awesome video 👏🏽 a real car enthusiast
The e46 M3 has one of the best ever naturally aspirated engines.
She is actual gem💎❤
Wakes up and watches an episode of initial D before going to her big girl job of automotive engineering and has a nardi steering wheel in her cappuccino. I hope she finds true love and wish her all the best because she’s awesome. 👏🏽 🎉
She just got engaged I believe. Her partner has an F12 and seems like a cool guy. She’s doing well :)
What a list of cars, excellent taste
What a good story, an inspirational lady. Love the cappuccino as a JDM fan. Would like to see the next journey of what she'll replace the BM with. Hopefully something cool and JDM
She looks beautiful
Absolutely beautiful woman. For all E46 M3 owners out there, my advice as former owner before doing any stupid teenager mod to the car, do the con rod bearings, then after that you can enjoy the car….I didn’t do that when I bought mine and I nearly lost the engine…
The title checks out, I would love to have her M3. thats my poster car. :(
Did not think she could get any cooler and then she mentions watching Initial D 🤯😭
This was a good interview
Thought I watched Gears and Gazoline. Good job!
This woman has got great taste in cars !
She's awesome looking and petrolhead - her man is happiest person.
“I remember sitting down one morning and watching initial D and it was the episode with the Suzuki cappuccino…” ummm, did we just become best friends? YUP!
What everyone forgets is that car culture is not monolithic. Everyone has different preferences. Some like effortless cruising, while some likes to wrangle their cars like a rodeo.
You might like "Sarah -n- Tuned"'s UA-cam channel. She does reviews, but also her own rebuilds / restorations... she's an ex USAF tech with OCD that loves doing her own work on her cars. Enjoy.
It's not always about power and speed.
Remember it’s just her opinion😊
There are many other experts that have other favourite cars 🚗 for me personally it’s the Miata ❤!!!
P.S.: Senna Sempre 💪
I think i'm in love !
She brought up initial D ❤.
M3 - 9,000 RPM gauge
Suzuki - 12,000 RPM gauge
She seems so cool!
Loved watching this, real journalism at its best more of this content please. ❤
More content like this please!
*Why haven't we seen Joana before now? Why isn't she my wife to be? Seriously though, I could listen to her for hours!*
Um Mulher Bonita e com Bom Gosto!😃
Tudo o que um homem Deseja!😉
E com uma garagem de sonho!😌
Great taste in cars
The wheels are awesome!
she seems like my ideal car girl, so cool and cute!
Seen her on Becky Evans channel where she picked the m3 up after some work
Great video. It only leaves me with one question: How can I marry her?
I’m in love 😅😅
Poor woman, probably inundated with marriage proposals after this video went up.
Lol. Line me up. She had me at 6:37. “…watched Initial D and its was the episode with the Cappucino…”
Lovely. She's beautiful, intelligent, passionate and very knowladgeble about cars and the technical part behind them. The video was great except one thing:
BUT, why did she had to "fell" in the words trap of "every successful woman in a male-dominated industry"?... I'm talking about minute 5 onwards.
More of her & the cappuccino please 👍
Great to hear more of your story Jo, keep up the good work 👍😎
Wow, what a lady ❤️🔥🤯
Tuga Power🇵🇹
She's Gorgeous, and a car lover, what more do you want?
I suspect she is the result of a lab experience where they mixed Vicky Butler Henderson genes with a little bit of chris harris. Definitely the type of woman that car enthusiasts really are hoping to see on the screen!
What a cool chic. ❤
buy e36 m3 cabrio - bam! problem solved :) Cappucino is cool, but too small 4 guys, just like Miata ;) Great CarPerrson! thumb up!
