I’ve always love how diverse yet cohesive Trivium has always managed to be. Basically evolved into a hybrid of prog, thrash, metalcore, and classic metal while still experimenting with other styles on top of them. Ridiculously talented, consistent band.
@@mootkickee I mainly listen to prog, and if you’re too much of a snob to recognize the prog elements in Trivium’s work esp in Shogun then I feel bad for you
I didn’t say Paolo writes everything, I said he writes majority of both music and lyrics nowaday, he did whole songs like Catastrophist, i think a couple of riffs on What The Dead Men Say song and much more on the album, he had so many riffs on all albums since Shogun. Yes of course, both Matt and Corey write amazing riffs, chill guys
@@vellayah mostly if anyone writes an entire song its Matt. Paolo and Corey are mostly just riffs, bridge parts and what not. They may well have written some entire songs but not nearly as much as Matt did. Which is totally fine. Its about working together. And they do that like a well oiled machine
Trivium may be the best band out there at writing their music within a style, while also blowing the lid off the box and creating “outside the box” stuff. Its truly incredible just how good they are at being the same band they were as teenagers, while evolving with every new album
Dude, I will also add that MKH’s guitar style includes some classical and Japanese elements. You are spot on that his style is so unique, he’s probably one of my top 3 favorite musicians out there. Also loved that take on how they are so big but are not afraid to go back to that aggressive style and try less “mainstream” or “accessible” things like the proggy stuff. This song is just top tier for them.
I like every trivium album they all have a different feel to them. I like your input it seems that Matt has been studying on what most of us would like to hear. HARSH VOCALS
LET'S GOOO! I was waiting for your reaction to this track. I really dig it! The song definitely has an oldschool Trivium feel to it like a more mature Ember To Inferno. I hope they'll continue to go in that direction with their next album. Btw Phinehas also finally released a new track. Hope you'll react to that aswell. It's worth it.
First off, amazing video as always! Secondly, watching this video made me realize how much of a personal accomplishment this song is for Matt in particular. After his vocal chords were fried, that was such a hard journey for him and I’m sure he still is mindful of it to this day. He absolutely took control of his career and did not let anything stop him. Amazing.
Hey man.. great reaction. But would like to point out here that the riffage is not just Matt. Paolo and Corey write as well. Corey plays it as well. The first solo in the sequence is Matt, the shreddier one is Corey. It's not fair to not give them any credit, if you're mentioning both Matt and Alex by name for their contributions and not the other two for theirs.
bruh this man said they're not really advancing themselves musically... have you heard in waves, vengeance falls or silence in the snow? thats basic ass trivium, like you can literally play any song from any of those records and realize is mid af
Opinion time: Honestly I don’t get all the hype. The song is alright. But there’s no memorable riffs at all and the only time I was surprised was with the blast-chorus, which was cool. Pretty ‘typical’ Trivium song and I think they’ve done it better. But don’t let me rain on your parade, glad most of you seem to like it!
I’ve always loved trivium the last two albums are probably some of their best but this new song for me just wasn’t it, I don’t know why and I don’t know how I can explain it but it just didn’t hook me like how trivium usually does
Agreed. After TSATS it has been downhill for me. Alex needs to take a chill pill and stop taking up the whole song with blast beats. Also the mix is pretty shit too. Sounds like another song off WTDMS.
@@mutatednut i don’t really get what you’re saying did you even listen to the albums? cuz Alex is clearly doing a tremendous job on his phrasing i seriously don’t get what you are talking

trivium really said fuck it and wrote one of their best songs ever
@Prentice Jones “one of their best”
@Christian_Metal Head 89 the title tracks off of the last 3 albums are all better than Shogun lmao. Grow up and stop living in the past
@Prentice Jones I prefer shogun but it still got some flaws like the soft part (with the acoustic guitars) that sounds too cringe

Where is the prog?
@@amandussvanstroem8906 the entire shogun album
they have a lot of death metal influence too. the first 2 minutes of this song is straight death metal.
@@ghostofmoredishesmorebitch1507 lol shogun is a bunch of singalong songs. if you actually think that’s prog, I feel pretty bad for you

Matt Heafy is just the most productive guy ever, it's insane.
Phinehas and INK dropped their singles and structures dropped their EP!!! What a fantastic Friday!!🔥🔥 Also happy birthday!! Finally 21 right🤣🤣
Matt and Corey are arguably the best guitar tandem out there. IMO.
Fun fact: Paolo, the bass player, writes majority of riffs nowadays for Trivium
Yeah he wrote the intro riff. I wouldn’t say the majority but he does write a lot. They all have a hand in the songs
Not the majority. Matt still writes the majority. But he did write absolute bangers

Trivium ALWAYS misses with me on the first listen on EVERY new song, and by the time it's the 3rd listen I'm fucking locked in every time.
Same. Listened to it first time, thought "meh", then listened a few more times because I knew I'd end up liking it. And I fucking love it now
It's called being tone deaf
@@HijoDeDios999 I appreciate your effort on a burn but I have a good feeling you don’t actually know what tone deaf means 🤣
Because they have quite long and complex songs, so it's hard to "understand" them on the first listen
Absolutely loved it. They did do something new which was blast beats in the chorus all the way through. That was a nice touch.
