To do that, you do quadrat + line transect. Place the transect line across the area, and at a fixed interval, place the quadrat to do the counting.

What type quardrat is used for beach measurement?

It depends on what you want to find out: if you want to find out the abundance of one species in that beach, use random quadrant sampling. If you want to see how a species changes from shallow water to deep water for example, you need to use systematic quadrat sampling. So it is up to what is the aim for the investigation.

Basically it is just one, but there are many ways to use it. You can use it differently when you want to collect different types of data. And also whether you want a random sampling or a systematic one.

Line transect can't tell you the abundance, belt transect allows you to count the area between so you can get the abundance too.
