HOW OFTEN TO WASH HAIR: THE SURPRISING TRUTH

- HOW OFTEN TO WASH HAIR. is washing your hair twice a week enough or is that bad if you have no hair loss your scalp is perfect you do not have excessive oil and all in all your hair feels really good then twice a week is just fine and that is the minimum that I would recommend for most people however if you are losing hair if you have itching burning scalp conditions if you have psoriasis of seborrheic dermatitis then you should be washing your hair daily and washing your hair daily is going to actually.
improve your overall scalp condition cause it's gonna remove debris and oil on the surface of the scalp as well as it's gonna overall make sure that your scalp is exfoliated this will improve your hair growth overall and definitely if you are again losing hair due to scalp condition wash your hair daily and make sure that you have a very very clean scalp on a regular basis

Once a week is good for me. If I wash more my scalp and hair feels dry. I guess everyone has to find out what's good for them.
Same here , my hair is good 👍
Yes different
That's gross 🤢
@@AKIL996it's not gross for me. It never smells, feels, or looks dirty to myself or anyone else. You do you and I do me. To each it's own. Have a great day and peace to you.
@@lorivandertholen5026 I have never heard someone be so nice LOL
I have 4c hair, and stating today I am washing my hair every 3 days now, when I did in the past my hair grew faster. Love this video, thanks for the reminder. My daughter washes her hair twice a week and her hair grows fast and she has afro textured hair like me
Im 4c too. 10 years now and can’t go past a week. It’s nice to know I’m not alone. 😊
I am an African American with Afro textured hair. I have been washing my hair daily. I live in an extremely arid environment and my hair needs hydration everyday to thrive. Yes. I use a very emollient rich condition after every shampoo. It is common in the African American community to not shampoo hair very often; sometimes not shampooing a month or more. I have never been able to follow what maybe customary yet . . . My hair thrives and grows to past my butt.
I always thought you wash less often because shampooing washes your natural hair oils away. But I do see the point
Yeah, sometimes what's good for the scalp isn't what's best for the lengths of your hair. But I also wash once every three days, because washing daily would dry my scalp out like crazy. That it's good for my hair is a byproduct. I don't think washing daily is really good for everyone regardless.
If your scalp stinks, wash it. Even after one day.
that explains why i got the most amount of hair growth when i used to wash daily!! i have super curly hair with extremely uneven texture i am getting blood work and possible hormone tests to see why my scalp and hair are insane but now in the mean time i will be washing my hair every single day instead of once every two days
I’ve noticed this as well, extreme hair loss from not washing daily.
I got dandruff and oily scalp, even though I shampo once a week using a sulfate free shampoo. Should I shampoo more? I got hair loss BTW @kyliek.9481
@@randomfellow1483try a sulfate shampoo.
@@randomfellow1483start shampooing daily cuz
@@randomfellow1483 you should definitely not use a sulfate free shampoo, it does not clean your scalp that's why you still have those issues, for oily scalp wash every other day
My personal hair growth success, I adhered to this routine:
Take morning sunlight every day for essential vitamin D. Consume veggies of various colours. Using paraben and fragrance free shampoo and gently massaging two times per week with hair oil from litttleextra cocooonion oil. Important to keep in mind that hair growth is affected by overall health as well as circulation and diet.

@@kittywang5158I have fine, straight hair and washing it daily with shampoo is what saved me. I tried training it but it gave me hair loss and itchy scalp. Honestly since I wash it daily I have long hair and it looks great. I use Loreal Elvive shampoos ( resistance or dream length lines ) , I follow up with a conditioner, I apply a hair mask twice per week, I use a clarifying shampoo once / twice per month. I also blowdry it daily on low heat. My hair looks great. Just try what works for you and dont follow trends.
As a former men’s barber and salon owner of 38 yrs, I cleaned up more scalps and facial skin concerns than most Dr’s. Truthfully Male or female, if you do not keep the bacteria off the scalp, (including beard, mustache areas) then the scalp & facial hair will not only stink… smelling sour but will cause all kinds of scalp / skin concerns. Wearing baseball caps / hats continually without allowing your scalp to breathe also causes issues. Shampoo w TWO Sudsing’s, with tepid water. The first lifts it off the scalp, the second removes it out of the hair.
Experience has proved to me, 90% of Dr’s, and dermatologists truly don’t ’get it’s… but William Gaunitz certainly nailed this 100%.
I dont have an oily scalp but i live in a very polluted city so i prefer washing my hair twice a week. Once with a gentler shampoo and with a strong claryfying shampoo the second time. I have incredibly dense hip length curly hair.
If you have a scalp condition please see a dermatologist or a professional. Washing your hair daily can, in many cases, do more damage.
Indeed
yes please go to the doctor for medical advice not youtube people
It depends on your hair type, if you have oily hair then you should wash everyday atleast
The guy in the video is most likely a certified trichologist and the scalp should be treated like your face or body, you wouldn't go more then 2 days without washing your face or body it's the same for your scalp. I wash my scalp every other day, because I would have scalp itching and flaking, now my scalp feels relieved with cleansing every other day. I'm a hairstylist and the clients with the thickest longest hair wash daily or every other day, and some of them just use drugstore hair products🤷♀️ like pantene, dove, suave
Thanks for the tip I'm sending this to some one
cold water, rosemary oil spray. none of that supermarket shampoo shit.

washing your hair daily can stop haifall or it increases the hairfall?
@@anandkumarak2694 it stop my hairfall

I started to wash my hair only twice a week. It has helped immensely. My back hair has never been so bouncy, lustrous and manageable.
May i ask your hair care routine
This advise DOES NOT work for coily, tightly curled African American hair. Most black people can not wash their hair daily regardless of the condition of the scalp. Even twice a week might be to much. They won't have healthy hair if this is done because most black hair is naturally dry. Moisture and oil is needed daily to nourish and hydrate black hair. Otherwise, it will break, tangle, knot, and other issues which is not good.
Oh ok. Thank you, i was confused for a second.
Honestly I wash my hair every 5 days & use no oil on my hair. If my scalp feels dry, I just wash it. I don’t even think we have carried our hairs long enough to even know what works judging that many of us are used to extensions. Lastly investing in a good shampoo is everything not even the times you wash.
This is facts
When I had natural hair, I was washing it daily or at least 4 times a week and that was the happiest my hair and scalp had ever been.
I wash once a week and I was starting to feel bad about that because a hairdresser said to wash hair every two weeks. By about day eight or nine I can tell my scalp isn’t happy but my hair did prefer 2 weeks
I wash with shampoo twice a day. Just make sure u get natural shampoo without many chemical. I use a selenium sulfade shampoo, it really clears all my oily, dandruff, itch etc. My hair is so oily, and it work best for me. Hair so thick n healthy now. Before it was brittle and i was losing hair a lot. Also dermaroller twice a week regrowth my hairline!
I wash as needed. Winter is once every 3 to 4 weeks. Summer is once every 1 to 2 weeks. HOWEVER, i have a bristle brush which I use daily to brush out dirt to keep my hair clean. I also dont use commercial shampoos. I follow Catherine Sewing. She has amazing hair. Its long, thick, and healthy.
doesnt that frequency of hairwashing itch like mad? anything more than 24hours of washing hair and i go nuts
@@paulsamuel3226your scalp gets used to it, so when you start washing less frequently it also produces less oil
Me too. I have very long, very thick hair and only wash once every 2 to 3 weeks. It's never itchy, smelly and very little oil. But I wonder if it's not oily, is that bad? I dunno.

Love this! I have dermatitis and I wash my hair every other sometimes every day. My doc said I should but my hair dresser told me once a week or twice Max. I started washing my hair twice a week even once a week when I worked up to it, my scalp got so bad, it was unbearable. People think one thing works for all but it just doesn’t!

I have really bad heat damage.. what should I do for regrowth? It’s never grown fast but just last year it was the longest it had been and the more heat I put I feel like I’m back at square one.
Washing daily only with water or with shampoo ?
I live by a gorgeous spring fed river (crystal clear and ~0.5mi from the headwaters). I love jumping in for a quick dip in the afternoons but I can’t figure out how I can do this daily without needing to wash my hair every time after I get in. Are there any apply-and-go products I can put on after I get out of the river that’ll help my hair cope with the exposure without a full blown wash?
If a workout can I use shampoo twice in summer
i’m experiencing hair loss due to trichotillomania. I’m trying to regrow my hair with an oil treatment (rosemary + diluted with neutral oils). I do that treatment once a week and leave it for 4 hours before washing my hair. Then i don’t wash my hair the rest of the week, and i just oil the ends of my hair.
Is nizoral shampoo with ketoconazole 1% everyday good. for washing ? can I add rosemary oil too?

You might have fungal dandruff. You can get over the counter shampoo that treats all kinds of dandruff.
Hair is as unique as the people it's attached to. Washing hair daily does not apply to MOST people. It can actually cause dandruff. You may need to do more research

My dermatologist recommended every 4 days, not more often than that!
I have a lot of dandruff even thought I use dandruff shampoo. How often should i shampoo or rinse with water or just use conditioner
Hi! Persistent dandruff can be frustrating, even when using dandruff shampoo. Managing dandruff often involves a combination of the right products and a proper hair care routine. Here are some tips to help you address dandruff effectively:
1. Use a Medicated Dandruff Shampoo: If over-the-counter dandruff shampoos aren't effectively managing your dandruff, consider trying a medicated dandruff shampoo with specific active ingredients. Common active ingredients in dandruff shampoos include:
Zinc pyrithione: This helps control the yeast that can contribute to dandruff.
Ketoconazole: An antifungal agent that can treat dandruff caused by yeast.
Salicylic acid: Helps exfoliate and remove dead skin cells from the scalp.
Coal tar: Reduces itching and flaking associated with dandruff.
Selenium sulfide: Controls dandruff and prevents its recurrence.

Daily hair wash good?
Doctor should i wash my hair daily with shampoo or conditioner or normal water?
Shampoo and conditioner without oils
i wash my hair daily otherwise my scalp smells really really bad and the dandruff omg...😢
If I wash more than once a week, my hair turns to straw. If I condition it is like i dipped my head in a vat of mayonnaise. I can't win
You are using a shampoo that is too strong and stripping your hair too much. You are using a conditioner that is too heavy and do not put it on the roots. only the ends. Look for a gentle sulfate-free shampoo or a co-wash with a surfactant. Do not use a normal conditioner to cleanse. Look for a volumising conditioner or conditioner for fine/thin hair...it will be lighter.

Nope daily will burn my extremely dry hair. Its very bad every other day very coarse. Hairdressers are telling me to shave it off it still grows. My scalp is scarred from psoriasis and being bald will make the psoriasis worse. Being extremely skinny and bald would do a number on my confidence.

Wash every alternate day- Just oil your hair and massage before 1-2 hrs of hair wash would be great. Use mild shampoos followed by a natural conditioner. Avoid harmful chemical infused shampoos. Also take care of yourself- take good protein, mutli vitamins, Water and avoid spicy, salty, junk foods as much as u can for better skin and hair.
I've never washed every day, even before I had issues with hair thinning. I suppose I could try more often, but am concerned.
Should you double cleanse using shampoo even if washing daily or every other day ? Also is eating breakfast important for hair fall and hair growth ?
With shampoo?
Everyday for me
Wash only with water everyday or shampoo?
Washing your hair with just water every day or using shampoo depends on your hair and scalp condition. Generally, over-washing with shampoo can strip your scalp of natural oils, leading to dryness or irritation. On the other hand, washing with only water might not be sufficient for those with oily scalp or hair. It's important to find a balance that works for your hair type.
