    Love it. Love seeing you succeed. I’ve watched your ups and down for years and you are such a motivation and inspiration. I think the biggest step in all of this is preparing to do this one your own. I did it the wrong way, jumped in with no security backing me and I’m constantly torn between going all in because I can’t afford to not get paid. And let me tell you, that constant feeling of drowning will stop you dead in your tracks.

    Pete - at around 1:00 in you talk about having nobody to tell you what to do, this is the biggest thing I have struggled with until this point. I have recently taken on smaller jobs locally for friends with business clients and events with filming, and the issue I find right now is asking myself "Is this any good?". If I had guidance from an industry veteran, it would be easier, however there would be no way to develop my style as I would only be mimicking theirs.
    Its an interesting discussion and you've given me perspective, love your work mate - thank you for dropping this video!

    Haha jag håller verkligen med. Märker att jag fastnar ofta i "vad är bäst att ta tag i först av alla saker" och det är ju skillnad mot när man hade ett jobb där det var tydligt.

    All you said is very true Peter, for many years I worked for a large corporation until I moved and started my own 'thing', from the outside people tend to see the good side of things, and there is many and the adventure is great but... doesn't come for free... as you said... but well done for what you have created 👍

    I read this as Business Trips for Beginners and clicked so fast. 😂 I mean I speed-click all your posts--and this video was nonetheless great, but if you ever happen to want to make a video like that... 👀
    All that being said, was sucked in fast as you addressed some of the things I've been struggling with since going full time. The discipline aspect has been tough---my focus goes all over the place, always focusing on the next and bouncing between projects and goals.

    Hey Peter, I started my videomaking business more or less when you started youtube, I have a huge problem with evaluating costs and rates, It's a skill I really lack and don't have the sense of quantity... but still it's all well when you become that person that they call all the time. I've sent 0 work proposals for the past 2 years and this makes me cry with happiness
    Thanks for your thoughts videos

    Being an entrepreneur doesn’t require discipline, but instead passion. If you’re passionate about something, it’s just going to be work. If you’re passionate, you’ll obsess and do it without thought

    Great video. Very good advice. Can you do a video about budget and pricing your work if you do make videos for clients? Like, as weddings, corporate, commercials, etc. for local businesses and for people starting out. I know I would benefit from something like that as it is so hard. I would love to hear some actual numbers too, like 40 Dollars an hour, or 1,000 Dollars for a finished pizza commercial, etc. I know it is hard to use numbers as we are all at different stages, but maybe share how you did it when starting out? 🙂

    This community and these comments are what I hope to accumulate down the road once I start uploading. The support and genuine interest of everyone for YOUR channel gives ME energy.. I could only imagine what that could be like if it was DIRECTLY to me. People can be frustrating, but overall, people are amazing and mostly wanting/trying to bring positivity to this world. They just need an outlet.
    Looks like i’m gunna have to start an “outlet” business 🤙🏽

    So many people complain about their job, but do nothing about it. Either route you go it's going to be hard. If you stay at a job you hate, it's going to be hard because you hate it, but if you want to go start your own business, that's also going to be hard. You have to choose which hard you want to pursue and figure out which one is going to bring you the most fulfillment in life.

    My current situation is exactly what you mentioned.... I am so confused between continuing with a 9 to 5 job or start my own photography business.... Because working 9 to 5 for five days a week is so draining and boring....but I also found that starting a business is also so much work as well.... You have to manage everything.... And consistent work (income) is also not guaranteed...there are pros and cons for both the things.... In a regular job you crack an interview and you are done you don't have to worry about finding a job but in business it's like finding a new job almost every other day...

    • @Joakimcomicscenter
      @Joakimcomicscenter 6 місяців тому

      If you don´t have anything to sacrifice, you don´t have anything to gain.
      I try to go by that, when I went from working 75% down to 50% on my "9 to 5"-job. Still enough time to earn a paycheck for bills and saving/investing, but less for fun reckless spending. But to then gain more freetime developing and networking my own business. I have not regreted a single day making that decision. To be able to work with what I actually do have a love and passion for and want to learn more of, whilst getting paid more than my 9 to 5 ever could on a similar day.

I am also in the camera space BUT I am a horror filmmaker/vlogger....I am currently doing a 100 vlogs in 100 days challenge to try and find my audience but it is NOT easy, I wish I had some professional feedback on what to do next or concentrate on.
