I have started reading the Laws, I must say I am enjoying it as a sustained argument which is welcome after the wandering around of the other dialogues. Also it is very relevant to our present times.

Also notice what Socrates is saying about Alcohol, then correlate it to the prohibitions of Islam ;-)

    The qualities of Eros:
    a) Flow (in all forms)
    b) Connection - tying - binding (see Oxygen atom in 3d view)
    c) Direction (from A to B & vice versa)
    See Raman spectroscopy?*
    Heraclitus said:
"Everything flows and nothing abides, everything gives away and nothing stays fixed"
Obviously he meant that "Eros rules everything" + "War is father and king of all things" = The unity of opposites..
Strife is justice, and war common to all!
the Symposium is essentially a way of Initiation into Eros, it gives us the necessary information so that we can ask the relevant questions and find the answers ourselves..
Once you understand the nature and the function of Eros, you will be able to see the "structure" of all things!
