My goodness Ancient Rome was magnificent and full of grandeur. I can just imagine if she never fell... What would the future of mankind look like?... Awesome video!
It's very interesting - reconstructions of the Basilicia Iulia always seem to show it as a fairly empty shell (3 story nave) but this reconstruction shows it with floors for example at around 4:55... fascinating...and curious!
A dream of a lifetime. I think the biggest issue is money and the lack of knowledge in infrastructure from 2000 years ago. So much knowledge has been lost over the years, many of those buildings are still a mystery how they managed to build it. "While the colosseum stands, Rome shall stand. When the colosseum falls, Rome shall fall. When Rome falls, the world shall fall" - Saint Bede.

HEAVEN AND EARTH WILL PASS AWAY , BUT MY WORDS WILL NEVER PASS AWAY . JESUS .
Very well done. Visited many years ago, my favourite Forum buildings are the Basilica of Maxentius and the Temple of Venus and Rome, when I visited, the Temple was not open to the public, wonderful to see it now even in its ruinous state. Must have been utterly magnificent.
the only other thing I'll say is that in antiquity many to all of the statues and buildings would have been painted in quite bold colors. We often forget that many things were painted in what we might even consider even gaudy colors.
I actually find the colors of some of the reconstructions to be very well suited to what the ancients were applying it to. All the colors on the buildings and statues were natural, so there wouldn't have been many "gaudy" colors in the way we know gaudy colors, in my opinion. Also, if you look at the ancient statuary and buildings, the ancients believed in balanced proportions and having colors that complement each other in their artwork. You see this in the wall decorations at Pompei for example.
Yes, but bear in mind that we don't know the exact colours of most of them. And the ones who got their colour from using marble... well, maybe that is a bit too much for the poor 90s 3d modeling program they use on historical reconstructions.
this is from a CD that comes with a book of ancient Rome, which you can buy in Italy. So it folows the text inside the book, I supose that is why they didn't label it. Sure it would be better... But, you can also find these information and the maps on the internet :)
+Jane Eyre , thanks for the taking the time to get back to me. I thought it sounded like Karl Jenkins, the British composer; but alas, I've had no luck so far in searching through some of his compositions.
Definitely the Forum, and the ruined parts should be reconstructed, and look like you show it. It is unrecognizable now even though together with Athens/Greece it is the cradle of the Western world. The buildings and temples should be used to house the Museum of Rome city/empire.
I truly wish some of these ruined structures were physically rebuilt. The video reconstruction is very interesting but I long to see these buildings in their original glory.
Tu regere imperio populos, Romane, memento. Hae tibi erunt artes, pacisque imponere morem, parcere subiectis et debellare superbos! Rome is not just a city, it is also an ideal and a CULTURE! Rome did not fall in 476, but only in 1453. Rome was, and it still is, a "synonym" for power, glory and order! In 476, took place the POLITICAL fall of Rome, but not its CULTURAL fall! Rome is an ideal! Constantinople is also an ideal! As Virgil stated: "Tu regere imperio populos, Romane, memento. Hae tibi erunt artes, pacisque imponere morem, parcere subiectis et debellare superbos" ("You, Roman, govern the nations with your power, remember this. These will be your arts, to impose the ways of peace, to show mercy to the conquered and to subdue the proud").
Bella ciudad!.
unprecise reconstruction. Nerva forum is present but not augustus forum which was previously built. Lacus Curtius is not mentioned at the center of roman forum..
Through the centuries the inhabitants of Rome used the ruins as a source for building materials. Thus many of the buildings disappeared, while others have been partially de-constructed like the Colosseum.
Just imagine what kind of machines builded such a constructs its beyond our technologies Ecclesiastes 1:9 What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.
Why was Rome built on 7 hills? And why are all the monumental important buildings built on 2 meter high podiums? Was Rome at that stage water logged? Did it experience frequent torrential rainfall and flooding?
Not quite sure, but in the case of the Roman Forum, it was built in a valley and originally had a stream running through it. I imagine that might have had something to do with it, although in general Roman temples were always built on pedestals regardless of location.

Keep in mind, this was almost 2000 years ago. Absolutely incredible.
You didn't use the word "awesome". You need to use this word all the time, as in "WHOA, DUDE! THAT WUZ **AWESOME**!!"
Was 1000 years ago ancient?
Or considered ancient? Wb 500 years ago
@@teachandfunnstuff3127 Yes, the fall of the western Roman Empire in the 5th century, is considered the end of antiquity
I went here years ago and found it hard to imagine what it looked like back in the day. This video is amazing thanks.
If u want to visit it like it was 2000 years ago, lucid dream it lol. Btw i was going there in last year in 2020. But man way to go Covid!
It was beautiful and still is!
The Forum, where these buildings are, is one of my favourite places in Rome. I have spent many happy hours wandering here.
Awesome. Just wish there were labels for which building you're illustrating.
My goodness Ancient Rome was magnificent and full of grandeur. I can just imagine if she never fell... What would the future of mankind look like?... Awesome video!
+Mr54nomore I've read that our technology today would be 300 years advanced if the Romans would have maintained control of their empire.
ttraderjim Agreed!
Seriously. We would probably be living on Mars right now or something. Would love to travel back in time just to experience Rome
Quid ergo mali, qui non sit? (So what would be wrong with that?) Lol.
ttraderjim I doubt it.
Wow! Amazing! Incredible & beautiful work! congratulations.
Man the eternal city was glorious, it has really taken a pounding though over all those years 😣
this is something they should rebuild in Rome
It's very interesting - reconstructions of the Basilicia Iulia always seem to show it as a fairly empty shell (3 story nave) but this reconstruction shows it with floors for example at around 4:55... fascinating...and curious!
Absolutely stunning. Music and visuals.
Makes me sad to see what we have lost 😢
Outstanding Jane Eyre! Thanks for this. Also, great musical score.
Do you know what song or score is it?? I want to find it so badly!
superb....nice presentation...
Rebuild Rome!!!
If something lay in ruins, first thing you would think of is to rebuild.

Several asked about the music: Andres Power, called Cosette (Ferty Remix). All according to Shazam.

Omg so intresting!!! You help me to score a good mark in history. Thank you very much!
Fantastic👍👍👍👍
The buildings had color
Yes, but bear in mind that we don't know the exact colours of most of them. And the ones who got their colour from using marble... well, maybe that is a bit too much for the poor 90s 3d modeling program they use on historical reconstructions.
Fantastically done thank you all the time used for research and to do this.
ottimo lavoro!
Nice job done, make all around the world wonder 7
Una ciudad increiblemente hermosa.
Oh to step back in time and see it.

I don't know :/ There is no information on the CD, nor in the book...

Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
absolutely fantastic !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I was little, the statue of Augustus' head terrified me
Whats the purpose of the drum-like building
Absolutely Magnificent! Grazie mille!

I truly wish some of these ruined structures were physically rebuilt. The video reconstruction is very interesting but I long to see these buildings in their original glory.
Wonderful.
It would have been nice if you could have identified what we were looking at during the tour
Amazing!
It's probably Duke Elington, and "a small vice like object."
Beautiful. Someone knows what music is this? Very interesting.
great job
Name of musical score please?

REBUILD!!
Where's the great Pantheon??? Now I'm upset :(
Very nice. Thank you. We need something, like a man, to show scale.
fascinating!!
This music is very good! Does anyone know who's it by?
Great motiff indeed. If You figured out what music is this please share. Thx

I went to Rome once....once.
Before and now, that would have made it more interesting. Now it’s for most of us a lot of buildings from a loooong time ago!
Bella ciudad!.
unprecise reconstruction. Nerva forum is present but not augustus forum which was previously built. Lacus Curtius is not mentioned at the center of roman forum..
thats a lot of stone, how did the city get so destroyed in the first place?
Through the centuries the inhabitants of Rome used the ruins as a source for building materials. Thus many of the buildings disappeared, while others have been partially de-constructed like the Colosseum.
SUPERIOR
Thanks
The visuals are great but the music is too loud and distracting. Narration would be welcome instead.
when was this done? early 2000s by the looks of it
You mean, like, **NOW**? We're still in the early 2000s...lol
I'm lost, where's the Forum Romanum?

Say what?
whath is the song
Sounds an awful lot like "Eleanor Rigby" covered by the London Symphonic Orchestra
Nah
The music totally ruined the impact of a lot of amazing creative work
i dont find the song
Roma eterna.
Not a single tree or shrub - is this realistic?
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍🔝❗️🎈
this is the real empire Rome...everything you see today is copied from the mother of all empires..
the romans were excellent engineers, I think one day this will be the same fate in the united states one day in the future, at a much faster pace.
Not with Biden.
True but not great thinkers

I'm pretty sure the real place looked nothing like that... The 3D is so dead and lifeless

Need to revise this with name and date and an arrow pointing to the appropriate structure. Turn down the pointless background music. It adds nothing.
