I agree with Paige. Your 6 seemed very generous indeed. Based on looks before you started eating, the pie looked dry and the veggies seemed undercooked. Add that to the forgotten items and a ridiculously expensive bill, that's a 3 at best.
2 litres of Aldi's Pepsi Max copy is 55p and tastes very similar. Your lunch bill was about £10 more than my weekly food shop for 3 of us. No wonder hospitality is on its uppers.
The Fox & Hounds here should be renamed The Bull & Rhino... Because they certainly know how to "charge"... Dry Steak & Ale Pies... Cold Undercooked Vegetables... Ordinary Looking Chips... Thin Watery Gravy... Missing Vegetables... Missing Cheese... Expensive Soft Drinks... And by the looks of their menu... Everything is way overpriced... For instance... On the Side Dishes list they're charging... £6 for French Fries... £6 for Garlic Bread... £9 for Cheesy Chips... £5 for Coleslaw... £6 for Onion Rings... I'm sorry Lee... But Paige got it spot on here... They didn't deserve a score any higher than a 3/10... There were so many red flags here mate... And to give it a 6/10 score is extremely generous on your part Lee... The issues you both had... And the unwarranted high prices here... Means i'll only give it a 2/10.
As soon as you showed the plate I could see where the pie was cut it was burnt. I can only think they warm up slices. That burger looked like one out of a tin.
With the greatest respect, why would you give a 1 year old a whole cheese burger? Some of your pie and the veg would be far better as alcohol in the pie would be burnt off. Sorry to comment in a slightly negative way as I just love your blogs.
Hi Lee ,Paige if they get less custom because of this they deserve to ,its good that you reviewed it because that was a blatant ripp off ,you have saved many people wasting hard earned money on average food
Coincidentally I passed here the other day and thought must try this….home cooked food…..Thank-you for reviewing it before I went back…..saved me wasting money. I think we all now know the reason why they told blond angel on her past visits they’re not interested in you reviewing them etc.……overpriced, not good quality cooking for the price and ripoff on the drinks….dash of lemonade…what a joke🤣😂
Just watched the video. It was good to see you two out and about again Ok, my opinion as a Yorkshire man HOW MUCH bloody daylight, robbery. The gravey was way too thin Veg could have been frozen. Pie didn't look that good I agree with the 3 you were too generous with a 6 Lee. Thanks for another good video. 👍
Here is my scoring: Lunch with you daughter and grandson always a 10. Location a 10 a beautiful location. Food - the steak and ale pie plenty of steak but it appeared dry. The gravy was very thin, it resembled more closely au jus than gravy. Chips and veg generous portions so food score 4.75. Value for money - 4.0
Sadly high prices for food you can cook yourself better at home for way less, if you're going to charge high prices then you need to set and maintain high standards, sadly the vast majority are ignoring this basic principle.
The pie looked drier than a nun’s chuff, chips looked like scrag ends. Gravy looked more like stock than gravy. As a former publican I know that soft drinks are the biggest money spinner out there. Your £3.30 drink probably costs no more than 20p to make. £1.20 for a dash of lemonade is scandalous. The shame of things like this is it send people into the arms of the likes of Neverspoons.
Overcooked dry pie, undercooked cold veg, thin gravy. Rip off prices. 4 from me. I had the same problem as Paige with my phone, so now keep an iPhone 14 just for my vlog and editing. I think the iPhone 15 is out very soon Lee. Enjoy.
5 is being kind, and that's only because of Paige, the location & the proper car (MG) in the car park. The cost of the lemonade "dash" is taking the P!
I recommended this place back in March after having a family birthday meal there. Yeah I know it’s not the cheapest but all the food was spot on 👍. Glad you went. Based on this, the chip shop I suggested a few weeks ago will get a review next March 😂. You must have a long list Lee…
Way too expensive, but the real problem is the size of the menu: At least 80 items, many of them supposedly "home made". Impossible to expect decent, let alone fresh, food when they've got that much stuff sitting in the walk-in fridge/cooler for who knows how long.
Blimey we had 3 starters,3mains ,2 deserts ,1 diet coke,1 half of lager,1 pint of lager and lime ,a bottle of tap water and paid the service charge at Casa restaurant on Parliament Street in Nottingham for £92. Which was really nice and a great place. I recommend you vlog that place some time Lee .
The pie looked awfully dry and you paid £48 and they had the nerve to give you gravy made with instant granules, you can tell by the odd gloopy texture.
The Fox & Hounds is very very expensive, we’re in Rainworth & visit most of the pubs around the area but honestly we now keep away from the Fox & Hounds, more expensive than London Prices. £17 odd for a burger, crazy, crazy prices & Beer prices 😮😮😮 ridiculous
First sign of trouble at this eatery is burgers £16 to £18. How much!? Nice drone shots! Dash of lemonade £1.20 - pi** off! Frozen veg.? Excessive amount of veg.? Gravy boat filling the plate. £48.20! Blimey. And no booze. Thanks for reviewing. Time to debate how to hold a knife and fork. Any comments?
I agree frozen undercooked veg, prices were astronomical for what you got…9quid for a babies burger, are you serious??? At these prices they really don’t deserve much custom, and for food served cold, food burned there’s no excuse
Hint. When you pull into a pub car park & it's full of flash cars, reverse back out! Love the repartee with your daughter. Food; pie no complaints, gravy insipid. 5/10 cos of price. Splash is usually bar person discretion not to charge for.
Love watching you two. I have relatives in Sutton in Ashfield. They are all reserved and quiet speaking just like you’re daughter. Where as my dad who moved to Leicester when he was young. Had me who is the complete opposite. Not seen my cousins in a while. Reminded I need to organise something.
While you are pouring the gravy on, and before you mention anything. The pie was cut from cold and then cooked wasn’t it? You can see the flat cut beef at the side of the pies, and after heating, the beef has stayed in place, and not moved with the gravy inside the pie. That’s a bit odd, don’t you think?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ PLEASE be nice to Paige I am her number 1 fan. Thanks Lee. 😊😊😊😊😊😊 Looks good but I have seen better pies giving a 7.8 for looks and they messed up the burger order as well. To much money for all of that food.😊😊
Wow that's almost $100 Australian for 2 pies and kids cheese burger no cheese I'm always amazed by the prices charged in the UK Iand I thought Australia was expensive
Rating 2 out of 10 at a push Gravy watery meat in pie looks dry Veg looks overcooked Cost way to overpriced. I’d be complaining Only decent thing is the chips look nice
Most pubs and restaurants do charge a lot of money for the soft drinks. I think they have such a high mark-up because it's one of the ways to make an easy profit.
Great having Paige back on the channel it’s always refreshing to see a younger face, no offence Lee lol😄. Those steak pies looked humongous however steeply overpriced and the burger without cheese, how can they forget that? Not one for lashings of gravy myself I personally prefer my pie with lashings of mustard, but what an outrageous bill for three meals. As for charging for a dash of lemonade how dare they. I don’t think I’ll be rushing there too soo Lee. Nice vlog however.
I knew you wouldn't be happy with that place before you got there I have been before it was overpriced pub food that's not particularly good. That pie is not homemade it's identical to the pie served in a pub just past Stanton Hill I think you will find it in the Brakes Catering Trade Catalogue
Interesting theory. Clearly the pie had been heated after being cut into quarters, hence the burnt edges of meat. Something definitely wasn't right about it.
Hi from Scotland hope you're all safe and well my friends... Am a chef & I would have asked for my money back & went else where...the dishes would never have left my kitchen like that my friend...i,d give it a 2 out of 10 🏴👍😉✌️🏴
I do wonder why people order food for very little toddlers ? We either took something or had of our plate definitely not a massive burger chips and massive bowl of veg ?
Highwaymen used to wear masks , maybe they didn't want to be filmed because they'd left their masks at home. Daylight robbery that mate and for that reason I'd give this place a BIG fat zero....totally unacceptable practice this profiteering 😡
Hi great to see your lovely daughter Paige back with you for this one. Paige's reviews are spot on and she is such good fun to watch. Yours are not bad either !!!😂😂 I see Sharon & Martin 'Butlers Empire' have invited you to the Ragged Apron for breakfast. Maybe something for the future that would be great👍.
I was in the 3-4 range. Steak and ale pie, you really shouldn't need gravy imho. The veg looked like it was a bag from birds eye. The prices were outrageous. 9 quid for a kids meal???
Can't score that as it looked awful for the money you paid. I would've got a refund and gone elsewhere or bought ingredients to make a much cheaper meal. 👎 Great to see Paige back as she tells it as it is. 😁
Like a lot of things, the consistency of gravy is a personal preference, I prefer it the way you had it there, except I would have poured it all over the vegetables to keep them warm 🙂
love the interaction between you guys , awsome , xx thats a good dad and daughter vibe love it and she is pretty but funny too , dad daughter time love it
Hi lee its no wonder people eat at home expensive and not good quality only a 3 from me. Nice to see paige she looked nice and relaxed the bub too ❤❤😅😅
I wonder if, and how much cheaper it was prior to the energy prices increases. The splash of lemonade charge is possibly an attempt to recoup some of that back. Even a chippy meal isn't cheap these days. Places will be forced to shut as a result of energy costs, IMHO. My local chippy, I've noticed are having to be extremely economical with regard to their use of power.
Hi Lee I didn't know you had a drone, nice aerial shots of the English countryside nice vlog the food looked like average pub food, the steak pie looked like the highlight take care
Lastly the mixed veg was from frozen I had too say it Lee new iPhone announced tomorrow out on Friday online only in 🇺🇸 USA so the IPhone 15 comes out on the 15th
I asked my wife who is from Farnsfield (Farnie) about the local pronunciations. She said she's always called them Southwell, Blidworth and Rainworth. She believes it's the older local generation who pronounce them Suthall* Bliduth* and Renuth.* *spellings sorry. Anyway, food wasn't great looking tbf. Veg looked like it was Birdseye frozen stuff. (other frozen veg are available) Pie was pre cut and warmed through for a guess and as for the gravy. Looked like an instant type.
Just catching up on videos as I've been away, that food looks horrendous, pie looks dry, veg looks old and the gravy is like water, I'm glad you reviewed it as I'll not be off there 😂
Initially I thought it looked ok, but closer up the pie did look a bit dry although it did have plenty of meat in it. The chips looked ok but I'm not sure about the veg whether it was well done or half done. At those prices though, I wouldn't be visiting anytime soon. Crazy. Nice video though.
Lee £42 for food and soft drinks that’s a rip off sorry that’s taking the Michael. That pie looks very dry and chips look like the frozen ones. The vegetables look over cooked, and £9 for a kid’s cheese burger and chips for that small size they could have given it to you free. Sorry on looks and price I’d give it 4 👍🏴
Yes your right these places are constantly creeping prices up. I remember when i first started drinking at 18 the price of a pint was10p now if your lucky you can pay £4.00 heaven knows what they are charging in London it will be nearly double that.. but i thought the steak pie looked meaty by the way. And £48.20 was far too expensive
@@ronrichardson3103 there is a pub in my town charging £5.50 for a pint of cider and I live in the north east of England, and all I get how can you charge that for a pint and all the replys I get is the cost of living ( no it's not the cost of living it's greed ) yes the cost of living is going up but not that much them are just using this as a excuse to rob people dry there will not be any pubs left soon because people will just stop going out so them are just cutting they own throats in the long run.
So who comes up with the prices it's obviously what they thought they could get away with not what it was worth, homemade does that mean it was microwaved in there kitchen chips frozen looks can be deceiving not worth the money
I agree with Paige. Your 6 seemed very generous indeed. Based on looks before you started eating, the pie looked dry and the veggies seemed undercooked. Add that to the forgotten items and a ridiculously expensive bill, that's a 3 at best.
I feel Paige is more honest, I also feel macmaster already knows what score hes going to give beforehand sometimes.
Yuk ,you can always tell if foods going to be naff if there’s a mass of choices and quantity over quality.
My thoughts entirely. A pub should just stick to 3 or 4 core meals. Stay basic, stay focused on quality.
2 litres of Aldi's Pepsi Max copy is 55p and tastes very similar. Your lunch bill was about £10 more than my weekly food shop for 3 of us. No wonder hospitality is on its uppers.

Brilliant summing up

Hi Lee ,Paige if they get less custom because of this they deserve to ,its good that you reviewed it because that was a blatant ripp off ,you have saved many people wasting hard earned money on average food

No wonder they don't want you on the premises filming. They know fine well they are over charging for substandard fayre.
Just watched the video. It was good to see you two out and about again
Ok, my opinion as a Yorkshire man
HOW MUCH bloody daylight, robbery.
The gravey was way too thin
Veg could have been frozen.
Pie didn't look that good
I agree with the 3 you were too generous with a 6 Lee.
Thanks for another good video. 👍
I thought the veg looked frozen as well.
Here is my scoring:
Lunch with you daughter and grandson always a 10.
Location a 10 a beautiful location.
Food - the steak and ale pie plenty of steak but it appeared dry. The gravy was very thin, it resembled more closely au jus than gravy. Chips and veg generous portions so food score 4.75.

The pie filling looks dry
Id rather be old and remember The Price is Right also that gravy pouring was almost obscene 🤣🤣
The most generously stuffed steak pie I have ever seen, reasonably justifying the price
If your spending £40+ plus for 2 meals you shouldn't be being charged for splashes of lemonade.
I agree but it's the brewery who usually set the prices. Even for a dash it's very excessive though.
Overcooked dry pie, undercooked cold veg, thin gravy. Rip off prices. 4 from me. I had the same problem as Paige with my phone, so now keep an iPhone 14 just for my vlog and editing. I think the iPhone 15 is out very soon Lee. Enjoy.

Lee your daughter comes across very well.... very likeable and down to earth young lady
Won't be going to Scamworth for a frigging meal any time soon.
Jeepers 😬
Way too expensive, but the real problem is the size of the menu: At least 80 items, many of them supposedly "home made". Impossible to expect decent, let alone fresh, food when they've got that much stuff sitting in the walk-in fridge/cooler for who knows how long.
Looked ok, surprised you both ordered the same though. Won’t be rushing to sample the food though.
Another shafting you got there mate that's unbelievable! I don't know how these businesses survive! 😢
Lee, they can hear you in Leeds when you are in Mansfield, Paige is just quietly spoken😊
Just as a women should be
Softly but deadly😆😆
I was happy enough with my Chris Higgits £1 burger at the weekend thanks to your recommendation.
Looked dry and over cooked frozen veg lack of gravy would have sent it back 4/10
Over $30 AUD for very average looking pie, chips and veg! Outrageous! I wouldn't be happy paying half that!🥵
First sign of trouble at this eatery is burgers £16 to £18. How much!? Nice drone shots! Dash of lemonade £1.20 - pi** off! Frozen veg.? Excessive amount of veg.? Gravy boat filling the plate. £48.20! Blimey. And no booze. Thanks for reviewing. Time to debate how to hold a knife and fork. Any comments?
You know its going to be a rip off when the menu doesnt display the £ sign on the prices
Like you’ve previously said’places are not just increasing prices due to the cost of living they seem to be pulling in lost revenue from lockdown.
1 year-olds should eat for free🤬🤬£9😮even a 3 is generous🤬🤬
lee lol, "you are only here to show your feet" made me chuckle.
I agree frozen undercooked veg, prices were astronomical for what you got…9quid for a babies burger, are you serious??? At these prices they really don’t deserve much custom, and for food served cold, food burned there’s no excuse
Should have brought your own 2 Liter Soda Pop from the grocery store to avoid the drinks receipt boosting
OMG London prices 'up North' 😮 bet they don't get many return customers.
Hint. When you pull into a pub car park & it's full of flash cars, reverse back out! Love the repartee with your daughter. Food; pie no complaints, gravy insipid. 5/10 cos of price. Splash is usually bar person discretion not to charge for.
Pie dry---needs gravy within it to give moisture and flavour. Then add more if required. Not that impressed Lee.
Pie looks dry, thin packet gravy with lumps in. I agree with your daughter. Over priced and not impressive quality.
3 shows the disappointment. About right.
Exactly, the meat was very dry on the sides.....but, I did not see ANY gravy in the pie: What happened to the "ALE" ingredient?
HOW MUCH! 😲! That 1.20 for the splash of lemonade was criminal. Robin Hood Country, for sure.
I agree with paige didn't look nice gravy to thin pie looked dry so 3 a decent score

Gravy watery meat in pie looks dry
Veg looks overcooked
Cost way to overpriced. I’d be complaining
Only decent thing is the chips look nice
Those prices are disgusting! Food definitely not worth it !
Are you single Louisa?
One 20 for a dash of lemonade I hope they go out of business
Most pubs and restaurants do charge a lot of money for the soft drinks. I think they have such a high mark-up because it's one of the ways to make an easy profit.

Wy not go all out and add a £ 3.50 parking charge too! 3.3
Hi Lee, I agree with your score of 6, those prices...omg! That kids meal was more expensive than your mega breakfast at O'Neill's lol
I do wonder why people order food for very little toddlers ? We either took something or had of our plate definitely not a massive burger chips and massive bowl of veg ?
Agree, waste of money buying a toddler that amount of food. Bit of parents would have been adequate.
She took some home for her other son.
It was because she had her dads credit card.😂
Highwaymen used to wear masks , maybe they didn't want to be filmed because they'd left their masks at home.
Daylight robbery that mate and for that reason I'd give this place a BIG fat zero....totally unacceptable practice this profiteering 😡
Looked a bit dry to me and chips looked reheated very expensive, Come to my cafe could of had the same, All biodynamic or organic…£20 plus drinks
Makes London look cheap. Total no.🌹
Lee for me your daughter was spot on with her review on this meal ❤ and the price excessive 🙈
Way too expensive for the quality. Great to see Paige back!
Hi great to see your lovely daughter Paige back with you for this one. Paige's reviews are spot on and she is such good fun to watch.
Yours are not bad either !!!😂😂
I see Sharon & Martin 'Butlers Empire' have invited you to the Ragged Apron for breakfast. Maybe something for the future that would be great👍.
I was in the 3-4 range. Steak and ale pie, you really shouldn't need gravy imho. The veg looked like it was a bag from birds eye. The prices were outrageous. 9 quid for a kids meal???
No gravy in the pie with the meat

Like a lot of things, the consistency of gravy is a personal preference, I prefer it the way you had it there, except I would have poured it all over the vegetables to keep them warm 🙂
love the interaction between you guys , awsome , xx thats a good dad and daughter vibe love it and she is pretty but funny too , dad daughter time love it
Hi lee its no wonder people eat at home expensive and not good quality only a 3 from me. Nice to see paige she looked nice and relaxed the bub too ❤❤😅😅
I must admit the food looked great but no way was it worth that price paid, also the drinks, they are taking the you know what, cheers Lee.
Was that really gravy or just some water scooped from the nearby river ?; 5 for me.
To be fair Mac I would of complained about 1.20 lemonade that to me is not right 😮👍
I wonder if, and how much cheaper it was prior to the energy prices increases. The splash of lemonade charge is possibly an attempt to recoup some of that back. Even a chippy meal isn't cheap these days. Places will be forced to shut as a result of energy costs, IMHO. Lovely to see you back page but great see dad has well let's go❤
We even think about price at our local chippy sit in fish and chips. peas and drink for £6.20..your meal was priced at gold plated.,😀
Bit expensive but great to see Paige back again.
Outreagous prices !! Pie look dry, ok with gravy. Veg looked like frozen ones. Overall a very ordinary meal, 4/10.
1/10 max...
The vegetables looked terrible - overcooked and probably lost most of their flavour. Nice location, but the food didn't look great.
Paige is gonna be next now having her picture up in the food places around there like it happed to you Lee in Whitby, wanted dead or alive 😆
I asked my wife who is from Farnsfield (Farnie) about the local pronunciations. She said she's always called them Southwell, Blidworth and Rainworth. She believes it's the older local generation who pronounce them Suthall* Bliduth* and Renuth.*
*spellings sorry.
Anyway, food wasn't great looking tbf. Veg looked like it was Birdseye frozen stuff. (other frozen veg are available) Pie was pre cut and warmed through for a guess and as for the gravy. Looked like an instant type.
Pie home made you have to wait a while as it's done in oven . Raindeer in edingley use to be good near farnsfield but not since it was taken over
Pie was home made. Just over cooked. Which is a shame as the pie would have been lovely.
Are these towns area of Mansfield such as Southwell & farnsfield and blidworth as I live in another county and don’t know the area
People saying this is expensive yet you paid around £25 for burger and chips 😂😂😂😂
That was daylight robbery too!
Just catching up on videos as I've been away, that food looks horrendous, pie looks dry, veg looks old and the gravy is like water, I'm glad you reviewed it as I'll not be off there 😂
6 a bit generous considering the price, you can get a similar meal in Shipley market for £7:50 pie chips or mash and fresh 3 veg.
Sorry on looks and price I’d give it 4 👍🏴
On price alone, Zero out of Ten. I don't like being ripped off being a Northerner.
Sadly the price is what it is many places are far worse for less
I live by myself and the price that you paid for that meal that's 3 weeks shopping for me from Aldi Lee lol
Yes your right these places are constantly creeping prices up. I remember when i first started drinking at 18 the price of a pint was10p now if your lucky you can pay £4.00 heaven knows what they are charging in London it will be nearly double that.. but i thought the steak pie looked meaty by the way. £48.20..............I almost fell off my chair. At 16.54 you said £6 pound's worth. I thought that was the price of the pie.
LOL! Just a bite.
Scandalous prices for soft drinks. Food didn’t look good.
So who comes up with the prices it's obviously what they thought they could get away with not what it was worth, homemade does that mean it was microwaved in there kitchen chips frozen looks can be deceiving not worth the money
10+ for bringing Paige along 👍🇮🇪
I went a few years ago, flies everywhere. Food was average.
what a crap meal, pie was dry, definately frozen veg, gravy,,,,,,,,,1tbsp of granuals to 1gal of water, scandalous price. 3/10
