As far as music goes. It takes some serious dedication. Drive and hard work. I started as an adult I started with the flute and now clarinet I practice every day!! And watch the lessons on the I tube , like you !! But it is a real challenge to just be able to play. And finding people to play with, impossible. But. I love it and I will never give up!! Brings me so much happiness. Joy.

    Hi Gregory,
Well siad! There is a growing trend here in Australia... and seems the USA (based on your Vid) of a sence of Entitlement particularly in the last couple of Generations - where they believe that they really dont need to put the effort in as everyone is a "winner" and gets a participation award just for showing up! - Hell, even junior weekend sports games dont keep score on the basis of ‘keeping the focus on fun’ - completely absurd! We are setting our Youth up to fail if this continues.
On saying comes to mind.... "If they can't stand the heat.... get the hell out of the kitchen".
Oh, and I love how you are sharing your technical insights and Musicianship. Thank You. 🙇‍♂
    Regards Roy.

Thank you Roy for watching and for your insightful comment. This is such a complicated issue. I feel that there are so many people who are complicit in creating this reality. Ultimately, we all have to take responsibility for our own lives and community. I think change always starts by owning personal responsibility. This reminds me of saying my professor used to say, "Just because it is correct, doesn't mean its right."

It’s called the dumbing down of America. People can’t even get young people to work for their companies. They have had easy street. Everyone gets a trophy !! They have a , I don’t give a damn attitude, or , I really don’t want to work that hard. I feel bad for the teachers. But. I feel like they , and the parents have created much of this. Also. I am NOT saying all students are like this. Then there is. Kids go through college. They graduate and have no idea what they want as a career. No clue!!

Yes! When i made this post I felt guilty about focusing on the negative actions of students. There are so many wonderful and promising young people with unlimited potential in life. Entering life as an artist very different than being a doctor or engineer. There is no economic demand for the amount of artist entering the work force. Even if you are the BEST, sustaining yourself financial is going to be a challenge as an artist. This is a very different reality than going to school to be a doctor there will always be a job for these graduates. I think institutions and professors should be more open and honest about how it is to make money as an artist.
Thank you for your support and contribution to these discussions!
