- Some Standard Characters are always going to end up better than others, but it's abundantly clear that Kuro is playing favorites when it comes to their standard banner. What makes Encore so great? What makes the other standard 5-star DPS feel worse?

EVERY OTHER DPS on the permament banner is dogshit in comparison to encoure, that is the problem. If they were all good thats fine, but they arent.
The delusion is real. Let’s just ignore Lingyang and Calcharo sitting in the back. Encore will be pushed to irrelevancy in time. Game hasn’t even been out a year yet.
My Encore deals so much damage it's not even funny. She was my second 5* after Verina and I got lucky with getting damn good echoes for her. Her damage is absolutly nuts. And now that I have Changli, her outro makes Encore even more busted.
And she's just adorbs. BTW I’ve been playing since launch & just figured out how to change Rover’s element. I was laughing at myself so hard.
i gotta disagree on the changli part. its 10x harder to play and does still less dmg than just using sanhua. investing in changli kind of messed up my account
@@delta6855 changli works better with chixia than encore esp since encore relies more on normal atk as opposed to ult dmg.

Also worth noting that Encore might be the best standard 5* to teach players the more intricate parts of combat without punishing you, she can teach you, animation cancelling, swap cancelling and quick swap, all that without being overly difficult to get her damage across, now compare that with Calcharo and it's a big difference

I actually prefer Chalcharo.
Decisive attacks for parrying and very dangerous attacks. His playstyle matches my own quite nicely. I have Encore, Varina, and Chalcharo. I am only missing one of the standard five stars and I don’t really need him. I also don’t have any limited characters yet. Trying to change that.
I use Chalcharo as my main dps and have a team that suits him pretty well for what I have.
Chalcharo, Varina, and Havoc Rover. Rover will be replaced in due time.
Completely true I never knew about quick swap and wanting to use her more I found out and now I love it so much

I'm confused - could you elaborate on why encore's situation correlates to calcharo? (not sarcasm, genuine question)
@@5daydreams Calcharo got sidenerfed because of the way dropping buffs work when quickswapping.
The reason Calcharo used to be incredibly strong is because you used to be able to quickswap his long animation times with a yinlin swap to avoid him dropping his combos and still deal max damage with the yinlin buffs while his ultimate is still on.
When the game got updated to drop buffs after swapping, his main source of damage got nerfed to oblivion because now he can't afford to:
1: Get hit in the middle of his combo string.
2: Dodge in the middle of his combo string.
..... And therein lies the charo problem. He even got the duration of his ultimate nerfed which makes an ultimate 3-full combo (his total damage would get cut by almost half after just losing 1-full combo because of reactions i forget sorry.) need near pixel perfect timings to do, when before the nerfs you could at least afford to dodge once or twice within the ultimate and still deal a 3-full combo string within the timeframe.
..... Sorry. I know it's a wall of text but even if I didn't have charo I felt bad for his nerfs.

I'm assuming since calcharo fell off a cliff during the nerfs the sephiroth mains are taking it to heart maybe?
Also, Encore didn't get nerfed too much with all of this even with the aforementioned nerfs. She got slightly hit with the basic attack damage but all in all it ends up being roughly a 15% dmg loss compared to calcharo's massive dps loss due to how his forte+ult works.

as a pgr player, it's no such thing as "Too good for standard" in terms of Kuro's meta design, even in PGR the A-Rank fills in 60% of Meta than thhe S-Rank so if anything, it's highly possible that future 4-stars could be really good if not outright broken. Especially since Kuro didn't just release new 4-stars each patch
Wtf r u on? Literally NO A-ranks are in the meta. Instead of spreading misinformation, focus on how easy it is to get meta S-rank chars EVERY PATCH!
sure you can get Luna and Selena easily for a dark team, but before that if you are running purely budget before getting those 2, Astral is one good example of this
Luna really does overpower Astral though, very easily even, even when it comes to just how using her kit is easy to Astral's 3-ping to Red ping

Well Calcharo's going to be fixed and that fix is called Xiangli Yao, So I guess that solves the standard electro character issue.

I pulled Changli on her first day, planning to main her. Two weeks later I got tired of maining her and I demoted her to parry sub dps. I went back and rebuilt Encore to main her again and I'm happier with her now! 😭

When CN tier list first release for 1.0 they put encore above jiyan without sig in T0 spot. I shocked.
CN was right she is underrated back then when on release where everyone wants calharo as there first dps rather then encore.
Look what happen now, encore is now better then calharo.

CN tier list is way more reliable than any western CC tierlist. They are compiled through intense testing by skilled people that aim for min maxing everything, and willing to vocal against the mass when something they know are right. We literally have the word: Chinese shaman for the insane thing they cook out.
That is more because Kuro removed the quick swap viability of Calcharo and YinLin.

What is a problem now however though is that most people dont realise encore is the strongest dps in the game lol. I still feel jiyan for his aoe grouping is better but jinhsi is nowhere close to those 2.

Both Encore and Jiyan sucks against Heron, Aix and Jue in comparison to her.

I actually got encore on release, but never built her. I was saving for changli, however after changli's trial I realized she's just not for me. But the problem was I had prefarmed a near perfect fusion echo set. I already had sanhua built and maxed out from jinhsi's banner. So I realized this was a sign, to finally build my encore. And my god does she slap! She was easily able to 3 star and this was with VARIATION Verina's weapon, not even a 5 star. Insane. But I am going for zhezhi and her weapon will be Encore's new best weapon even stronger than Stringmaster! Cant wait
I've been maining Encore since day 1 and I absolutely love her playstyle, I'm still using Encore, Jinhsi, and Verina as my main team even though I have Changli and I absolutely love it because Jinhsi nukes everything and then encore cleans it up with pow pow pow pow pow lol
I was pretty much destined to be an Encore main, I wanted her so I made 2 accounts and played them both at the same time one on pc and one on mobile to have a better chance at getting her and I got her on BOTH ACCOUNTS at 50 pulls, then I selected Verina's banner and got her on my 2nd 10 pull, and I got Yinlin's weapon on my very first limited weapon pull at 1/80.
My luck continued for Jinhsi at 34/80 but her weapon was like 63/80... then for Changli I lost 50/50 to Encore again and had to go to pity twice for Changli. Basically I have an E2 Encore now because I also bought 1 copy from the shop. I used my standard selector ticket on Verina for her E1 too or Encore could be E3 rn but I kinda wish I got the panda girl I never remember her name.
Jinhsi M4 gives a damage buff on her outro. You would be set if you had that.

While almost everyone at the start was glazing Calcharo, us Encore players were having fun killing everything on sight with our Cute Faced Encore killing machine

Well, not exactly. The thing about Fusion characters is that they all punch harder than their supposed role/rarity should be when it comes to raw damage numbers.
There seems to be a theme for each element:
Fusion is high raw damage.
Electro is rapid hits and vibration damage.
Aero is CC and utility.
Glacio is damage avoidance or mitigation.
Spectro is friendly to off elements and generalist.
Havoc is quirky specialist.
Right now Jinhsi is top DPS, but that is only because what Kuro envisions as the first phase meta teams don't have all the characters yet. Future Havoc and Fusion burst DPS characters are the ones likely to out damage Jinhsi, but may not have Jinhsi's flexiblity. Even if a Fusion burst DPS character only ties with Jinhsi, Changli will be a huge tie breaker. Havoc is more of a wild card.
Havoc just does whatever the hell it wants.
Changli is also likely better in hard content due to her ability to ignore defense values, giving her a significantly higher damage floor than every other character in the game.
Hell, her S6 is a 55% defense ignore. Depending on how that's calculated, Changli might have the best DPS of any character in the game for a long time when it comes to hard content and enemies at later SOL3 phases who'll naturally have higher defences.

Havoc Rover is a much better match-up against many hologram bosses cuz he can parry with ease, deals lots of damage and is agile af.
Easily a tier higher than Encore.
@@arthurgeier2545 if Havoc-Rover truly was a tier higher than Encore, you would be able to do tower with them, but you can't, you need to rely on someone else to carry them.
It doesn't even need to be Encore. Even a lot of the 4 stars are very good on their own. For example, Chixia and Danjin. These two can be invested easily by F2Ps to S6. Their BIS weapons aren't hard to get either. To me this is more of Kuro just being generous with the whole thing. Of course, if you do pull Encore, she's very useful in quickly bursting down targets.
She doesn't "quickly burst down target" She gets most of her DPS from the AA chains of her lib which are sustained over ~10s. Shes pretty bad for overworld for that reason.
As an Encore main, I agree. She just feels so good and fast to play and her quick-swaping style gameplay and animation cancelling is really fun!
been an encore main ever since her appearance in 1.0. stole yinlin weapon, quickswap gameplay with havoc mc is very nice. now i need that 3rd dps that is not a male...

I think Encore is generally underrated. She's not going to be doing Jinhsi levels of damage, but she's flexible enough that you can use her if you built her right.
A lot of people jumped on the Calcharo bandwagon due to his design and potential damage output, but his kit proves that even if you have a higher DPS-ceiling if you aren't fun to play, no one will bother. I'm not saying you can't like his character, but it's clear his kit is rather clunky to use to get the most out of it. I'm sure Kuro was aware of this considering a certain free 5-Star Limited character is going to take that spot real soon. LOL
While Encore is still a standard 5-star DPS and will also be powercrept to hell and back, she actually scales well with Sequences and if you give her a decent build for quick swap teams, she's a monster. Her kit does have some clunkiness to it, but unlike Calcharo, you aren't as heavily punished for messing up arguably.
She's very cute, fun to use, and if you get her at S6, she'll be a decent DPS for a good while at least. Supports obviously age better and if I had to choose between Verina and Encore's S2, I would've gotten Verina's ASAP in a heartbeat, but I'm lucky that the game gave me both. LOL
Actually at high skill develoment, Encore's team have higher dps than Jinhsi.

She gets like a 25% DPS up from S0 to S6. I have her fully built at 90 and cleared most of the endgame with her, but she's objectively a terrible dupe project
For reference, limited 5s gravitate around a 100% DPS upgrade from S0 -> S6. Standard pull sequences are so bad they actually get more from an R5 weapon
Something that i miss in the game is more universal outro skills. Like, changli buffs fusion dmg and liberation dmg, it feels that just encore can extract her full potential cause she heavily benefits from both buffs. I think that's cause we don't have many chars in the game yet, but i really hope that in the future they get rid of elemental damage buffs and focus more in being more diverse with the outro skills. I don't know why, but elemental damage outro skills are so boring and standard.
Edit: of course that with being diverse i don't necessarily mean that outro skills needs to buff all chars, specially if isn't a support, but i think its more about buffing only one attribute you know? Like, the chars that are getting the best of changli's outro are specifically fusion, liberation dmg based characters.

Standard characters are just temporary filler until the limited version of their role/element gets released, then they get powercrept hard.
Encore is very fortunate that Changli came out early as a Fusion sub dps. But it's also quite likely that Scar will be released in the next few patches. If he is Fusion, then RIP Encore.
As per scar skill set, I don't think his a main DPS charactee but definitely would be a broken sub-dps.

You can tell by her outro skill. She gives a Fusion buff + Resonance liberation buff to the incoming character. That's identical to the buffs Yinlin does for an Electro team.
Jiyan and Jinshi are both main dps for Aero + Spectro. You can tell because they don't give any buffs to their teammates.
That's why Encore outdamages Changli. Changli is a subdps, Encore is a main dps.

@@darkheartrif No it's quite clear that Changli is a sub dps. She has short amount of field time, does high damage in that window, then buffs the main dps with her outro ability.
That's why Encore can outdamage Changli, because Changli is a buffer unit for the Fusion team.
Her outro is identical to Yinlin's, except it buffs Fusion instead of Electro.
Coordinated attacks aren't the determining factor behind a character being maindps/subdps. It's whether a character brings team buffs, or if all their abilities just buff their own dps.
Awesome video, thanks for your hard work. I fully agree, I use Encore with Changli and she is one of my favourite characters in the game. She is so fun to play, very flexible in her team compositions due to her quick-swap nature and she is just damn strong. I currently use the battle pass weapon for her and am eagerly awaiting Yinlin's rerun, just so I can get her weapon for my Encore. xD

I was (a bit) disappointed to get Encore instead of Calcharo on the beginner banner. I had actually obtained Yinlin in a reroll on this account and wanted Calcharo for the synergy.
Now that I know more about team building and that I play her with a S6 Sanhua, she's my favorite character (I find her easier to use than Yinlin/Jinhsi for whom I do not master the rotations well)

Just to add up, last TOA was with Fusion buff and encore was doing great (this is what Prywden said also) but right now for example, with the Glacio Buff and Zhezhi that buffs Glacio also Lingyang is doing great, i myself with an lvl 90 fairly geared Ling Yang cleared all TOA floors with Glacio buff
Encore and Varina were my first 5* from the initial 5* selection pulls.

Which I could trade my Calcharo for Encore. I need a Fire dps and Morterfi is not enough lol.
I was planning on making Encore a dps with my Changli, but my Changli is too strong as main dps, so I built Mortefi to provide quick concerto Moonlight echo buff and extra fusion dmg.
Would it be better to add Encore to this team?
you honestly should try the double dps route for encore, if you have the resources to go for 2 fusion sets. changli's downtime after using skill twice is why people go for double dps with encore/chixia.

absolutely love my daughter Encore, i have a soft spot for small and adorable characters (Nahida and Klee in GI, Huo Huo in HSR), these games just love to play on my motherly feelings man
after her appearance in 1.0 story quest i was like “YES, I NEED YOU, I’M PICKING YOU FROM THE SELECTOR”, never regretted it since, she is cute, she is strong, she is fun to play, what else do you need?
i don’t have Yinlin’s weapon sadly, but i’ll definitely pick it up on rerun, everything to make my little princess stronger
I only got Encore as my free selector (after getting Verina) because she’s pink 🗿
And now she’s an absolute monster on my account with a standard 5 star rectifier, an E1, a Verina also at E1, and a Changli S1. Meanwhile my Calcharo from the other gacha selector is rotting.
(Edit: I also have a Stringmaster I could give to Encore whenever my Yinlin isn’t on her team)
i lost my 50/50 on ylinlins banner and got encore, i don't even want to build her even if she is currently super op, i got Changli E2+Weapon, c6 Mortefi+5star gun and Chixia+5star gun, maybe in the future i'll run her for fun with Aalto in a team and someone else from the black shores, we will see

I literally made a new account because of how badly I was burned by choosing Cacalro. That along with Xiangli Yao really burned me man. Luckily I got encore with my beginner pulls and chose Verina with the selector. Gosh darn it Calcharo.

I chose encore on the beginner wish AND got her c1 with the Free 5 star voucher not because i knew she was good, but because cnnuy T_T
In new release gacha games, you dont pick charas for their stats, you pick them based on if you like then visually or not lmao
dmgwise calcharo is stronger but much harder to play
I knew choosing her as my first 5 star was the best choice. She being able to attack both long range and melee is just cherry on top

I love encore so much! Lost two 50/50 to her but she’s my favourite to lose to! There were quite a few people complaining about her being “clunky” but I really don’t feel that at all

Encore is my first five star (after Rover) and the least priority on what I'm building probably because the lack of Stringmaster. No regrets though because I like to play Aalto, Chixia, Yangyang, Danjin more than her because I always die on her, I know her fans will surely criticize me as skill issue, I know whatever lol.
Encore was the ome I got in the 50 pull beginner banner. I was originally pissed but she carried me before I got Jiyan lmao
It seems every gacha game I start, the first 5 star from beginner banner somehow carries me to mid game
The best decision i've ever made in wuwa is i picked encore over cal, i picked her only because she feels better to play than cal lol
I lost my 50/50 twice and she's on S2! My main worry is that Kuro Games may decrease the effectiveness of her combat at some point, as this is a gacha game after all. I'm not very knowledgeable about games like this, so I don't know if characters will become weaker as time goes on.
Chinese VG companies rarely nerf chars in gachas, since downgrading a paid service after purchase is illegal there. Usually it leads to so much backlash on top of legal actions that it's really not worth it

I'm working on finishing her build too, having Yinlin's weapon made this easier it was such a big investment being able to build 2 teams thanks to 1 unit and her weapon.
i recently built her as well and shes pretty damn strong even with a blue weapon. I dont have better options so its really bumming me out.
you can animation and swap cancel calcharo's skill and forte circuit tho... his skill ceiling is weirdly high for same payoff as encore tho idk why they made it that way, if I like a character mastering them is fun so it's not too big of an issue, good luck to anyone playing him on mobile tho

As an encore main I can completely agree. I beat all hologram 6 bosses before when she was level 70 with encore sanhua verina with gigamax everything forte circuit. Well i used encore danjin verina for mephis but at level 80 because that boss is cancer.
I pulled 2 Encores in my firs 20 pulls in the first day, I was never that luky in a gacha game, I didn't like her that much before that, now is my favorite character

I really dislike this little pink gremlin, so no matter how good she is, I will never build her. Kuro should've given good support for all the 5* standards from the beginning, which is not fair.
I skipped on Yinlin but could not pass up her weapon and so glad I didn't! Amazing choice for my Encore no regrets!

i pulled for yinlin and her weapon cuz i wanted to main calcharo and yinlin and when changli came out i was like ‘oh man i need her and i need to make a team for her’ so i decided to build encore and her synergy with changli and yinlin’s weapon is absolutely INSANE. like i dont even use verina on my encore/changli team, i use baizhi cuz no jianxin, and they’re STILL better than my yinlin/calcharo team 😭 i hope i can get more usage out of yinlin when xiangli yao comes out though cuz i love playing her even if calcharo is.. to put it lightly, mid 😭
Not related to gameplay but I appreciate Kuro didn't make Encore an overly clichéd "mentally unstable girl with plushies" archetype and nothing more. Yeah, there is a hint of that archetype to her, but thank Kuro she's a lot more wholesome than her appearance/lore suggests and also way more badass😎

yeah i got calcharo, then encore and yinlin. so encore was left in the basement.
but when i decided to use her i was lv 70 in that moment, but encore was lv 50 with no ascend, and i see wait wait calcharo do900 DMg, and encore lv 50 does 1300 DMG? what? calcharo is in the basement now.

For everyone commenting abt encore x changli teams, they are ok but chixia is better unless you have s4 encore ( which is possible if you picked encore for your selectors and got her from standards etc. ) as it buffs fusion dmg for the team after heavy

Me, who uses Encore simply because she's cute: oh, ok then...
The funny thing is this a nerfed version of the previous Encore (CBT2) which was a nerfed version of the previous version (CBT1) which was a nerfed version of the 1st iteration (tech test).
So no Kuro absolutely knew how strong she was, they just failed to nerf her adequately.
Reminds of Kid Buu in DBFZ, Luke in SF6 and Dragunov in Tekken 8.
Very funny that I genially wanted to get her on release when no one bet an eye on her but got Lingyang instead lmao. Now I spend all resources on limited chars and probably won't be able to pull on standart 5* banner for another 2-3 months. *Sigh*
I've been using Encore from the beginning and she made me lose any interest in playing any other 5 star 😅
I only got Jinshi because toa requires at least 3 dps, but if it wasn't for that reason, I would have skipped every banner until Camellya

yeah.... seing calcharo was originally the reason for me to start wuwa. at some point close to release she grew on me kind of and i was hesitant to decide which one to go for. i decided to go for my love in first sight, calcharo. i still love his design but man oh man. then i lost 50/50 on jinhsi banner to encore and slapped my stringmaster onto her. damn did i have regrets ever doubting her and choosing calcharo over her.
now encore/changli is by far my most fun and also strong teams.

Encore is absolutely adorable and has honestly one of the most engaging gameplays I've seen with her ability to switch from a ranged dps to a melee bruiser, she just needs a good team and weapon
Yay Encore is strong, I am happy as Encore main. Seriously though, at first I thought she as gimmick that make her weaker when i learn about the charged attack, until I realized we can switch during that time. slowly but surely, with experience, Encore kit as a whole feel so good. my improvment to TOA was actually to remove changli and put in Sanhua back in her team. I love Encore, both her character and her gameplay.
You should build Yuan Wu (level 90 required) and you'll see he is in the same class as Encore in terms of power level, though he's a sub dps so he doesn't shine as bright as others. And he is unconventional to build. But he has all the tools.

So so good, every end of my rotation theres always a free 50k+ that hits the boss because of her heavy attack, make sure shes still in liberation mode.
I'm not going to lie, I initially picked her because she was cute and reminded me of Nahida or Klee from Genshin Impact. I didn't even consider the meta, but to my surprise, she turned out to be amazingly good. I only realized how strong she was when I started building up her echoes and looked for guides online. You can imagine my shock when I discovered she was one of the strongest DPS characters in the game at that time. I did not complain one bit, now shes with her big sister Changli absolutely obliterating anything on sight.
Feel like shes just nice because of the fusion damage buff in the Towers right now
Everyone glazed Calcharo at the start too when Electro Damage had a buff there as well and then he fell down a peg when Yinlin’s tower buff came
I have her s2 with stringmaster. She's an actual demon. Encore does sooo much damage in a short period of time when paired with sanhua. She's also very consistent with her damage since all my other dps are burst reliant (jinhsi and havoc MC)
I didn't get Encore until my 5th standard 5*. Lost 50/50 for Cal S1 for my second. Verina and Jianxin were prioritized for supports. She remains unbuilt and probably will be forever. Not that it's stopped me from clearing end game with relative ease.
Funny how this video appeared right after I had just built encore to a above- average build since 1.0 (some echoes still need some work but I need to regain my sanity and waveplates).
Was suprised that I managed to clear the first TOA and stage 3 holograms even though Girl is lvl 70 on a lvl 40 Jinzhou Keeper, with 6/6/6 talents with an underleveled Sanhua and Verina.
Now just waiting on Yinlin's weapon and she'll finally be complete.
