I used to work for a company that set up concerts for major artists. The Janet Jackson Madison Square Garden NYC concert tour, we used Eastern Acoustic Works Speakers. And the Madonna concerts in NYC also used Eastern Acoustic Works with EV's speakers. As far as music consoles, I love the Neve 88RS console for orchestral and film production audio. And I own the Neve 5088 and a 6-bucket Avid S6. I worked on the Euphonix System 5 console back in the day before Avid bought them out then trashed the company, and also SSL G series in studios I worked in. Other concerts and fashion shows I worked on, we had the harrison consoles.
I had always insisted on using l acoustics or d & b pa's but recently I used a nexo geo m12 pa and I was very surprised by how good it was. Goes to show most of the time we're not willing to give anything a go other than what we're used to
So interesting that a guy sticks a wall of gear and equipment directly in front of his face in between himself and the PA he's supposed to be mixing on.
I think when you are dealing with a large outdoor venue, that the near fields are necessary, since the majority of your audience is far closer to the speakers than the audio engineer mix position. It allows them to fine tune the balance of vocals and band, walk around the venue to hear the overall balance and energy from the system.
@@RocketBrothersBand Plus those neumans would be linear AF , so for virtual soundcheck and making sure the rig is doing what you want nothing better. I love that he's using the SSl bus comp over the main outs. Very slick. Sound would have been great!
It baffles me that db tech got the software and plywood cabinets on point but for the price the fact that the drivers are stamped baskets compared to their sister company Rcf, if they going to call it a professional line they should use better drivers , the job that 12 l acoustic s218 subs would do , you need 24 plus db tech 218 subs. I’m guessing they know if they use higher quality drivers that they would affect Rcf sales . I will admit the l610 is by far one of the best out there . Just my opinion
well....looks like you know nothing about dBtechnologies VIO system, do you realize, that they are using RCF woofers right? and they are definitely not cheap stamped ones, but the top line of woofers RCF have. And compresion drivers, they use B&C, which sounds much better than RCFs.
@@19deadmeat87 lol bro I owned the vio line , fun fact rcf makes drivers for majority of the brands out there , db technologies uses stamped baskets , if you own a any open them and see or do you want videos . I can also do side by side comparison with db technologies s218 or even the s218f vs l acoustic dual 18 or even eaw 218. And just to be clear I know they use rcf in the s218 , b&c in the 212 but it’s a stamped basket , even in the vio c
@@MixmasterMegz767 I am working with VIO speakers fot severeal years, I have opened some of them either, and woofers they are using are modified version of RCF LF18X451 and for me it doesn't look like a stamped basket
@@19deadmeat87 the s318 is stamped , the s218 and 218f isn’t stamped , the vio 212 , 210 , 208, l610 is stamped , the wedges and curve ones are stamped , I’m not bashing db technologies as I said the 3 way l610 is one of the best out there , I just find the subs lacking , even compared to the eaw rxs line , tho I will admit the s218f (flyable ) is slightly better, it has the internal design of the old dva S30N dual 18
With all our knowledge of electronics, acoustics and delivery of sound, the over the top ear drum shattering power of amped music has not changed in 50+ years of concert going. At what point will a sound engineer create a better way to deliver sound quality that will not destroy our ear drums ?????
I am personally aware of many mixers who rise well above that low bar you describe. db audiotechnik allows me to do my best. Other mixers have their preferences. Assuming a correct install, it is really up to the mixer to work at a level that makes sense for the artist.
The dB Technologies systems I've heard didn't sound very good. Poor sub-bass extension, what bass there was was boomy/spiked, poor upper bass / lower midrange transient response and harsh upper midrange and treble.

@@zumazmusic Thank you!
Great interviews. awesome info. Nice to see what approach people are taking to pull quality mixes these days. Subbed!
Much appreciated!
Many quality brands and models. Not just 3 or 4 of them. Well done. ✨✨👏🏻👏🏻
Nice job! I'm sure running a show in the middle of all those buildings can be challenging acoustically.
Definitely!
Nice work. well done!
Thanks a lot!

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us!
Thank you so much ❤❤❤❤
You're welcome 😊
How much does it cost for a typical show like this, with the array and subs featuring (time-aligned) setup$$$$?
i wish people would put away their phones and just watch the show
i wish to work with u

What do you mean? He has monitors to hear PA and legs to check real sound from time-to -time ))

I don't know. Sadly I think it's just one of those nonsense things that is what it is...
