What is Subaru STARLINK?

The term “STARLINK” comes up a lot in modern Subarus, but what does it refer to? There are actually 3 different systems all using the Starlink name, so knowing what they are and how they work can make it easier to utilize them.

New subscriber. I’d love suggestion for CAR WASHES. Seems, number of things that should be turned off (why no car wash mode??). 1st time I went to drive thru, my back wiper was torn off (they replaced it next day).

As of today it is a dead app that shows up as and inactive grey on my ‘24 Impreza RS

If you download the STARLINK App to your smartphone and enable "STARLINK" from the page that manages devices, it will light up and function as it does in this video. Most simply use their CarPlay or Android Auto software instead of the STARLINK App.

@@BaxterSubaru thank you. I didn’t realize it was an either/or setting, obviously Apple CarPlay offers more functionality - I thought the Birder app might be fun while on a road trip though, maybe I’ll still try that out sometime.

Avoid subaru’s at all cost! I have a Subaru Legacy 2018 and that starlink screen wears with time and it looks as if it’s got spots of water in it even though you haven’t wiped with a wet cloth. It freezes and you can’t change anything on your screen. If not freezing, it goes into ghost touch mode and just makes it’s own commands, and while it is connected to Bluetooth, it just starts dialing people on my contact list. It’s scrolls itself all the way to settings and changes language from English to Spanish to French. As if that’s not enough, it just continuously beeps.
Very UNRELIABLE.

STARLINK is incredible unreliable. Navigation is very poor.
