Awesome, Klause is one of the greatest electronic music pioneers of all time. I'll sometimes jam on my keyboards and sequencers then get out of my chair to take a drink or do something quick and get back to it!
.. R.I.P. Klaus Danke für deine Musik..by the way .. a visionary .. sequencers are beautiful..in 60's - 70's ..did you imagine.. right now .. in year 2024 .. we are dancing on these beats/sequencers "stuff" .. you just created a "revolution" .. 60-80 min sets .. etc
Somewhere up in the sky there's a bunch of old German geezers (and a not quite so old German geezer) tooling up to give the heavenly choir a run for their money. Eternal sequences Klaus!
It is like listening to and watching J.S. Bach performing centuries before you could have known you were witnessing something timeless. For me it's like living 500 years in the future and having a flashback to this moment. Uncanny, enlightening, transcending spirituality on an individual level. It's this kind of music, that aside from the one being called classical, should be put into spacecrafts sent to explore the borders and outsides of the Solar System, to represent the timeless creative power of humanity and be a part of its legacy.
I love his stage presence.... because he totally does not care about stage presence... he is just relaxing in a chair like he is at home working on a track. Then he talks to the crowd over the song, I love the non-showmanship of it!
What I like best about Big In Japan - each piece of music ends differently. The fade out - the crescendo - the obscure - the sudden stop - the grand finale. What's more, he actually plays with his hands - I find modern synth players don't know what to do with their hands once a sequence starts. What's more, 95% of the time Klaus only actually uses 2 keyboards to work with and just listen to what he creates, the different tones, techniques and textures he brings in and the ease in which he does it. Truly remarkable. Often, I see many new modern synth players with about 8-12 keyboards about them but they hardly ever play them. When I look back at early synth - the 60's 70's and even the 80's it's amazing to see how good the synth work stood out when only one or two synths/keyboards were actually used. I still await a stylistic keyboard player that can wow us just with his hands - the way Wakeman, Banks, J Lord, Vangelis, K Emmerson - the keyboard player from Goldfrapp and many other memorable synth artists did and still do. I live in hope.
While watching this DVD for the first time just after it was published, I noticed a few small, involuntary movements in KS’s back and shoulders during this piece of music (clearer in the full performance), and was fairly convinced he’d been suffering from hiccups for at least ten minutes before he stands up and walks off stage while his ‘band’ plays on. This looks dramatic but I suspect it may have been more functional; he probably needed a glass of water to get rid of the hiccups.
"Klaus is not dead. He just moved to another place in the universe" according to his site. O, I so much hope that is true, as then there will be a place called heaven. I guess the Gods wanted him back.
Ruhe in Frieden, Klaus. And thank you for "Xylotones" in "Crystal lake" from the Album "Mirage - Eine elektronische Winterlandschaft": ua-cam.com/video/GpllI5g1UyI/v-deo.html
I would love to see him do some work with the current Tangerine Dream line-up. I'd certainly be front and center for one of those shows. (But it would be more fun if the chairs weren't empty. :D )
R.I.P. One of the greatest musicians of our generation.
Rest in peace Klaus … sequencers are beautiful 🙏🙏🙏
The great Klaus Schulze is not dead. He lives in his music, in our self experience whit his music, in us.
I love this moment, casually walking off stage so his music can have the full spotlight then walking back to praise it, sequences ARE beautiful!!

Die Erhabenheit der elektronischen Musik - auch und gerade wegen der Abwesenheit des Musikers, der doch diese Musik kreiert hat - superb!

A master who knew its machines and treated them as collaborators with a soul.
