Evangelical preacher Joe Kirby from Off The Kirb Ministries hasn't listened to secular chart music for around 10 years so decides to see if music has changed by listening to Lil Nas X.

Very true. Lately, I have upped my spiritual life with praise and worship songs, as well as prayers. Two days ago, i decided to watch TV with my sister. A music channel was on, and on it was a worldly music video. I really felt disgusted at it.

The stuff I listened to was tame compared to this stuff.
I still listen to this kinds of music even tho i don’t fully agree with the lyrics or whatever. The way i see it is i know what’s right and wrong with this stuff but it doesn’t mean i can’t enjoy it because i know i won’t be influenced by it.
@@n30n__ra1n In some regard our minds can be thought of as computers, in the sense that what you put in is what comes out. Subconsciously it gets recorded, so one must always be careful of what they allow into their eyes and ears.
@@RVRV-mz8yw Yes but i’m fully conscious of it so it’s different. I have been stopping listening to songs i really like purely because the lyrics have started making me feel uncomfortable and i am conscious of the music i listen to. I won’t stop listening to it fully because no matter where you go there will be sin, it’s unavoidable, so even if i did stop listening to sinful music i’d still be hearing and seeing many other sins take place around me regardless of whether i listen to it or not. Plus, I’m autistic and NEED certain songs to cope because of the sound of them, and music is the only way of me blocking all other noise out.

Music is unbelievably potent to reach the human soul deeply. I get where you coming from, but still I think it's very wise to listen to Godly music instead :)
I listened to “Montero” by Lil NasX because my aunt bought it to my attention and my spirit was so uneasy and upset. I felt myself getting dark. I had to pray after that none sense because it was VERY dark indeed. I thank The Trinity everyday for their grace and mercy. Definitely just finished doing some Bible Study and breakdown.

I don't think so... why will God then waste his time giving people the talent to entertain, if this would only be to the benefit of satan's kingdom? I know Christians who sing secular music, their music isn't vulgar or demonic, they simply express the human condition. I am an artist, I create art to entertain people, I don't see how this could be a substitute for joy.

Music isn’t demonic, there’s more things that are worse than music and this video is laughable about it.
I can relate to this so much. I was going really well in my walk with God though I still had some subtle sin areas that needed work. Then I started listening to secular music and it was the beginning of a big backslide. I ended back on drugs and in sexual immorality and a lot of other sin. I wondered how did I get here and racked my brain and realised it was the music I was listening to! It’s like it puts spells on you. That’s why I deleted all that music and will only listen to praise music. I never want to end up like that again. Thank God he saved me from that pit and He has also worked on all those little subtle areas that I was still in bondage. I don’t even take medications anymore. I am a new creation in Christ and 5 months clean from alcohol, methamphetamine, cigarettes, meds, and marijuana. I don’t watch tv anymore. I am working on my swearing and how I interact with people. I study the Bible daily and have joined a church. Everything is going really well. Of course everything is not perfect. Following Christ is not about a perfect life it’s about a perfect God. I had to remove a lot of things and a lot of people from my life that were hindering my walk with God. We have to make sacrifices for Jesus just like He made the ultimate sacrifice for us.

I have a good playlist in my channel of modern hip music. Many of the artists make christian songs not all of which i have listed. Moby is another good artist he has songs like 'god moving over the face of the water' that is phenomenal
@@derekstaroba you can't have hip hop Christian music. Back in the day the pilgrims didn't even use instruments, then the organ, then piano, now in churches its like a loud concert hall and I don't agree with that. And bringing in worldly "genre" like rap metal rock and trance into the churches is a BIG no no to me, as Satan is HEAVILY involved with these genre as they're the most popular today with the gen xers down to the gen zs! That's a lot of people being influenced by devils and their pawns! It's not a game!

one of the easiest ways to get sucked back into the spirit of this world is through our eyes and ears; tv and music has been almost completely taken over and is being used as a weapon against everyone, especially kids.
I can spend a lot of time in the word and in prayer and then if I turn on the tv, I just stand there like a zombie and I lose all discernment.
I got rid of Netflix and subscribed to Pureflix and Faith Now TV, because then I can have some down time and not be worried about what gets snuck in.
Let God almighty strength you indeed the journey is not easy but God is always on our side every step of the way.

Im a 15 year old Christian. I dont really listen to secular music, i try not to. Its not easy to do so, especially being a teen in this day and age I was doing a fast from secular music, only listening to gospel and tbh ive never felt more connected with God. You my good sir, just encouraged me to try to continue that fast onwards with no end. Thank You.

Just continue to do what you doing now! The music they make and have been making for the last 10 years or so is just satanic , I myself never wanted to think about it that way but if you listen to the words and look at all the signs in the music videos you clearly see they worship the devil and mock God! I know it's not easy but stay on the right path with God you will have eternal life.💜 I made the decision to turn from all music made from any artist about a year ago as it really influences your feelings

@@guanedits6349 it’s alright to pray a prayer for less than a minute you were nervous. Never stop doing what God wants you to do like going to a church. Because He wants you to get to know Him better and if you want you can try reading the Bible to help you with God’s words and there is prayers in there too. Praying for you to find a church that helps you in your walk with God. Remember it’s not just about going to church it’s about getting to know Jesus more

I don't even turn the radio on in my car anymore, I use the time to pray. I usually end up wiping tears from my eyes when I think about the one I am praying to. When I arrive at my destination I usually have red eyes and smudged mascara and that is ok.

You know, I turned 63 today. I grew up in the 70s and what awesome music and what great memories. I gave my life to christ in 2015 and I listen to praise music. The thing is, I love classic rock but I get to thinking about the memories tied to that music, drinking, smoking weed and women. I expect that of a young guy who doesn't know any different. Now I DO know different and even at my age, or maybe because of my age, Satan never cuts me any slack. The old rock is kinda like a call of the wild, I go back to younger, more selfish ways. All I can do is put my faith in God, move forward and when I stumble, remember his mercy.
I am a Christian woman , 57, been saved since I was ten yrs. old. I got sucked into secular music when I was in my teens and young adult hood. It does lead you to contemplate sin. I had to cut up many of my CD's. Throw them away. Nowadays all I listen to is Christian Music. I keep it set on my car stereo. It keeps me grounded in Christ and living for Him. It keeps me plugged into the Holy Spirit and God. It makes me yearn for Heaven and want to be more like Jesus.
This channel is new to me but I can't get enough of it!!! This Off the Kirb ministries guy is so refreshingly honest and enthusiastic about Jesus. I want to thank this ministry for letting me hear something real, honest and to the point witnessing in a time when all seems to be going down in a handbasket. Thank you Off the Kirb.
Lil Nas X is so scary. I'm 53 and grew up hearing how evil rock music was. It was nothing like the horror show that's going on now.

When I saw that video it made me realize living as a homosexual could never be accepted by God. I was coming around to the truth of Christ at that time and had a lot of confusion surrounding living as a homosexual until that point. Since that video I’ve completely left behind that lifestyle to become born again to follow Christ and serve the Creator.
I spoke up against that video to the other gay people I knew in my life and I was surprised at how I was the only one of them that could see how obviously Satanic and demonic that song was despite having no real beliefs at that point. I was actually worried at how younger kids considering if they were gay we’re gonna be influenced by it, and saw how that video being released the week of Easter was gonna kill any tolerance the gay community had worked for. But the other gay people I knew stood behind the video and didn’t have a problem with it. At that point I knew I had to leave that life of sin and willful rejection of God to lead a life of indulging lust behind. I have not regretted that choice once since.

@@rosagorskikh9825 yes I noticed a big difference in my attitude on my looking life and I learned the hard way that the music was corrupting me not only were the people around me corrupting me but it was the music as well and I fell down into a deep pit of despair but finally Jesus reached his hand down and I am being pulled out of that hole finally and I am so grateful I completely stop listening to that music too I'll listen to secular music every now and then if it's nice and it has a cute message and stuff like that

I tell you the last year I decided to get rid of secular music and enjoyed it so much, my spirit and relationship with God were better, but after some months I was back into it due to I got bored of Christian music. I did go back listening to secular music specially kpop with the excuse that I'd use it to study and practice Korean cuz I'm learning it. I absolutely relate to things mentioned on this video, they can be only songs, but they get stuck in mind badly that eventually oneself realizes and feel guilty and incapable of letting them at one side (or at least that's my case). I'm trying to go back and appreciate if whoever's reading this can also pray for me so it's easy to stop listening to secular songs again 🤍🥺
I find as long as you dont over obssess and dont listen to any of the songs that are sinful like sexual songs for example its okay, but also have christian music and worship songs are good. I have trouble finding christian music that i like if i'm honest but i found out earlier that prince has a lot of christian songs actually, one of my favourites being 'The Cross'. The song uses cross as a metaphor for jesus and states in the lyrics not to die without knowing him. (i dont remember the exact lyric) If you dig into the older music you will probably find more music that isn't full of sin but nice and wholesome as society was still much more religious back then and wouldn't accept anything else.

I canceled my subscriptions to popular services and joined Pureflix, Faith Now Tv, and Klove, but I know it’s gets boring because there just isn’t much content out there. I’ve watched The Chosen shows on repeat and am praying desperately for new shows to come out.

I used to be a hardcore metal head (Atheist/Anti-Christ), I've got a full sleeve tattoo on my right arm, holes in my face and ears, etc. After turning to Christ, becoming truly newlyborn, God released His Spirit into me, I've thrown away all my metal paraphernalia, my wife and I stopped watching movies, series and for the most part don't listen to any popular music - It sounds boring, but the reality is, when you know Jesus, He truly is all you need to find joy. Not everyday is a walk in the park, we've been through horrible situations after becoming newlyborn, BUT, with God and without God, I will gladly give up everything in this world for Jesus, as I know He is the only TRUE source of happiness and comfort in this life. When I became a born again Christian 30 years ago I could no longer listen to secular music. It always had a way of taking me back to a time and place where I was living in the "world". When I was lost. Memories of a time I would rather forget. So I no longer let secular music take me there. 🙂

When I was non Christian I watched Rodeo by lil nas I told my friend let's watch it together and while we watch the whole thing I was terrified barely had any sleep that night felt so uncomfortable then I showed it to my mom and she was Shocked then a couple of days later we turned to the Lord because we felt a emptyness and our life was meaningless without jesus but I use to listen to alot of music that was demonic and use stay up as if the Devil himself was there Glad I serve God now.

For someone who grew up on music and as a new believer; I had lots of genres on my playlist except for today's music. I have sugarcoated for a long time thinking "it's just music." Your video convicted me (James 4:4) and I too notice when I listen to non-Christian music it effects my Spirit. I literally just deleted all 500+ songs except my worship songs. I think the lyrics are the message more so than the beat. I had my mother, a strict,conservative and devoted Christian listen to "Unity" by The O'Jays (after 20+ years of persuasion) and she truly listened and enjoyed it.She's gone now and have been for 10 years at the age of 92. Yet I'll never forget that shared memory. Gospel is my favorite and preferred music. Yet there is a message in music and song like Eddie LaVert said.

Please, just know that Christianity is not an umbrella term for "sub-religions".
Catholics, Mormons, Jehovah Witnesses, Orthodoxes, Methodists, etc... are not Christians. Each of them have different beliefs, teachings and ideologies which are not in the Bible.
You are either a Christian or a Catholic, you can't be both.
A real Christian is someone who follows Christ and His Word (the Bible), and ONLY the Bible, not a religion.
Also, real Christians should read the King of (KJV) of the Bible because the rest versions change, add and/or remove from the Bible.
